Bit late to the party, but this seems eerily similar to the floating Morph Ball/Bomb hop thing I worked on forever ago. Remember doing something similar to "float" after falling off an edge. 'cept this might actually go somewhere. I'm bored enough to use this as an excuse to playwant to try this. Might find miniscule tidbits and whatnot.

The poll is dusty.

That does seem like an interesting AT though. I'll try it tomorrow in training mode and see what I can do with it.

I'll play you. Get used to not being able to find any Samus mains. >_> All of them are inactive/quit and I'm not good so yeah, but I'm trying to get back to practicing and playing wi-fi now.

And so the gauntlet has ended, the final player GasyNinja has finally realized that there exists no other samus players.
well guys, it was fun while it lasted. See you next smash game.

I forgot to say welcome, so welcome to the Samus boards and Smashboards! Yep, you won't find any Samus players really....you can always try another character? LOL See ya next smash game though...next one Samus hopefully won't be doomed to have drawbacks leaving her mediocre. </3

That is what they all say, but Samus is always going to be doomed. :/ She was one of the worst in 64 too by the way. You can also edit your posts, so you don't get in trouble for double posting.

The thing about 64 is that the game was so busted that even the bad characters were pretty good.

It's like Marvel 3 (coincidentally), if the system is broken enough, any character can be good.
Unfortunately, the way that Brawl plays seems like it should benefit a character like Samus but instead her jump sucks and her kill moves suck and everything is misery and love is over.

Gotta keep playing her though, can't stop myself oh god.

Once you main Samus, it's like you can't quit her. ;_; I stopped playing so much because I needed to focus on school for a while. xD 64 was crazy with the amount of hit-stun and Z cancelling making aerials lag-less. Too bad there was no side specials before. It's definitely fun to play with friends at least!

haha... I dunno. I feel like she's very, very easy to quit.
I played metaknight a few weeks ago and life felt so good.

But like... I dunno. It's a challenge among anything else. People that stick to samus aren't the ones who just want to win money and that's it, they're the ones that want to leave an impression on people I think. Which is how I am.

That's how I feel when I play Samus. Winning money is nice and all but I like the challenge of trying to win using a below average character like Samus.

Samus is very enjoyable to play, her relatively large toolbox never creates a dull moment. Lately I've been playing around to see what kinds of combos/strings/mixups I can get with dash attack and nair.

Funny, I felt the same way about the game itself. :troll:

Seriously, though, am I the only one here who just has no desire to play the game at all anymore? I think I got burned out on it when my group of Wi-Fi friends split and OTL went to hell.

I've had a lot less interest in this game lately. I can't play wi-fi without stupid things happening and me wanting to throw the controller or wii out the window. LOL Since that's all I got when the only venue close enough to me for tournaments closed down. :I

I dunno... I mean there are a hundred things I do first now (play fighting games, play Magic, play Brawl-, work) but I still enjoy playing the game.

I actually think I'm going to a tournament this weekend, if not just to hang out with the community. It's not a game I hate, it's just not my favorite game haha

samus is my one true love. and i use her frequently as a pocket character against players i know are unfamiliar to the matchup. My samus actually wins me a fair amount of matchs/sets against top players in my region.

Considering I also main Peach, I find Samus good for taking on MUs I feel I need to be more ranged in or deal with Toon Link without having to change too many gears in my play style mentality.

She also has the benefit of being the least played character in North America for four consecutive years, so no one has any idea of how to fight her.

Okay, so there is SOME advantage to having a pocket Samus. :p Do you think one day she'll end up second least used or no? LOL

I doubt she'll ever gain much popularity considering she still is called "Spamus" by some. I find her a good co-main with Peach considering the surprising amount of similarities they have in terms of attributes, strengths, and play style.

Luckily Samus is heavier than Peach. :p They do have some similarities though, but I guess we'll have to wait and see if she ever picks up on popularity.

I think we're at a point in metagame where new players (if any) are just going to pick up a top tier (if not metaknight). It's gonna be up to us to get samus popular haha

I've recently been compiling all of what I know about Samus into a word document so far. It's practically a mini-thesis right now that's currently 22 pages long.

Hitbox data we have covered.

The thing is, the samus' that are left are mostly new samus'. All of the old guard, the ones who would be able to largely contribute to stuff like match-up and stage info and etc. are all inactive (at least on the boards).
Except me and I haven't really played a lot in the past months so even what I have to say wouldn't be exceptional.
We're in a weird place where the character experience base has basically reset. Which sucks because we're X years into the game.

I figured hitboxes were covered at some point, I just haven't found a thread for it. I mostly was making the doc to see what I may need to work on and gauge my understanding of Samus as of now.
