Sparta Kick is on the same level as Ohio's #3-6 imo. And the only player I think he couldn't quite beat yet is Shugo. That's not MI biased either, its my honest opinion. Mikey Lenetia could also do really well in Ohio as he's about the same level its just that his character is a little limited. Y'all can disagree but when SIIS6 goes down you'll see. I'm determined to get my boy SK out of state so people finally realize we aren't just Lain/Judge.

But before you worry about that, our rising stars will be a threat to Ohio soon. You'll see ;)

Mannnnnnn........ I've been trying to get an OH/MI rivalry in full swing for over a year.

I know about SK. Dude beasts every tourney he goes to. He doesn't make it to alot of tournies though, does he? Either way, I'm glad some peeps are stepping it up.

Ohio is better. :)

Sparta has never been outside of MI for a tournament because he stays 4 Hours north of everyone else in our scene. I house him though to make it easier on him though. He's still beaten a lot of good people though. We're hoping he'll FINALLY be able to travel for this next SIIS. Its been a plan in the making for a while now lol.

And lol there has been a MI/OH rivalry for as long as I can remember...rofl.

So I heard about the PR thing yesterday and came to check it out for myself. I was hoping I had finally done enough to make the PR since it was my last chance to make this list. Sadface...

Why does it seem like every time I do something good, someone comes up with an excuse to make it seem like no big deal? "It's just because you play Lucario." "But you play that guy all the time." "You had this absence during this time." "You're moving so you can't be considered for PR." "You need a big upset or more big wins to be an HM." (By the way, did I even make the list when I beat Kel? I was wrecking during that month/season and was only losing to PR players.)

I'm not gonna argue though. I feel bad for the things I said in this thread a long time ago. Besides, it won't matter what I say after this list since I won't be eligible anymore after next week.

LOL that's what happens when you're on the top. One loss and you're "slipping" **** is stupid.

This is why the Midwest is bad.

Because we care so much about hanging wins over others heads instead of actually trying to help each other get better. -_-

Whatever...
Just wait, I'm going to **** ALL of YOU! Starting with shuggy! C'mere BOY! :yeahboi:

Actually, hanging wins over each others' heads isn't the problem. It's that our local scenes can't even get together frequently like the other regions do. Like I said before, Texas gets together all the time, all the time.

That and...we kind of don't practice the right way. Most of us just kind of play some friendlies (with bad habits galore) and that's the end of it. No money matches, no technique practicing, none of that essential stuff.

What KB says is truth.

When I play other characters I don't sandbag btw.
I legitimately try win or lose.

^ This.

There were some tournies that I doofed up on (Siis4..ahem), but I do believe that I've attended more than enough tournies to be qualified for this. Not to mention that aside from that, I've placed within Top 5 the DU series twice now.

Given all that being said, my peformance in my other tournies weren't exactly amazing, but they definitely were not terrible.[/COLOR]

I either block or don't read the messages of people who has stuff like that in there post... it's annoying.

I never sandbang when i play regardless of what character I am playing. I play to win... Swag!

You know, that may be the real reason the MW doesn't have any true contenders. All of our people play low tiers.

I remember when the god Kais were bad. And OS and myself were like "Ok serious business- you're ONLY playing high tier." Next thing you know the God Kais are decent.

If only everyone else did the same...
plus all of the good midwest smashers still play the good game

*name search ftw

Funny how you're all still as inactive and unorganized as you were back when I still played. One of the reasons I went and picked up the game I liked much less at the time.

Gotta love that Midwest Melee hype...oh wait. LOL

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The Midwest (both games) has always had this vibe of apathy to it, something that I can't quite put my finger on. I just know that I can't stand it and it feels like my passion for the game is going to waste. I felt so much better after playing people at HOBO 32 and Pound 5, but I never feel like I've improved after one of ours.

I'm not deliberately trying to slam our region, nor would I want to, but this lack of "fire" really bothers me a lot. We had it going on for a little while there, but then...people stopped caring, people stopped trying to usurp Shugo (excluding Y.b.M., Kel, myself, and even Clowsui), and people on here are actually arguing to be on HMs in a tone that seems like they'd be content with at least that...which is pathetic to say the least. This list is what it is, we will be working off of this one from here on out. GO HARD in brackets, aim for high spots in the list, **** everyone and take names...no one should ever settle for anything less than that. Wake the **** up Ohio!

Kind of with KB on this one.... The melee guys who came to viva Espana from Pittsburgh were extremely disappointed because....well...they WERE the melee tournament there :/

I'm with KB on this one. Settling should never be an option. Its alright to set realistic expectations for yourself, but it never hurts to attempt to exceed them. This is why I will never stop until Infern's money is mine. Yeah he's better than me, but that never stopped me from MMing him time after time again. It's just an example but you get the point. One day I plan on passing up Lain, no matter how hard that is. I am not comfortable where I am at now. There's always this itch to get better in me now. I had to really sit down and evaluate things after the last PR, and honestly I don't care what it says. I only care about surpassing everyone else on it. I'm tired of my state and my region looking sleepy personally.

How do you think PA feels? In reality we are still pretty decent, but since we are 1 of the "tri-state", which is NY/NJ/PA, so we are regarded as bad since the Eastern side of the state is next to the best region. :/

And since I'm from the opposite side of the state, West/Central PA got the scrub tag by default for the longest time.

I think PA when it was still active could take Ohio in a crew battle. The hillarious part would be even though I play you guys the most, they would refuse to put me in a 5v5 because they still think I'm bad. As a whole, East pa isn't too fond of the rest of the state for some reason, its stupid.
