Lol amazing Nana save at the beginning. You should work on instant throwing her items back at her though. It stops most of her item comboing.

Bonk :popo: vs Esoj :diddy: 3

Match 1 wasn't saved. Vids from a tourney match yesterday.

I would really appreciate any critiques since I am unfamiliar with the match-up. Tips on banana control would be helpful as well (Like how do you practice without an opponent). I also think you guys may see something I don't.

I lmao'd at that SoPo charged fsmash KO.

Anyway, pretty much he knows that when you're in the air that you'll either airdodge or throw the naner when you have it. You can switch it up some by dropping the banana and have Nana catch it. That also allows you to put major pressure on him since you can desync, have Nana throw the naner at a good time and at best, get a grab or get some nice damage out of it. Overall you did a pretty good job about not letting him get too much control with the banana's. One thing you can practice is getting that instant throw back, that can do a lot for you in some situations.

When you edgehogged his second stock, a way for you to avoid getting hit is when you bungie jump. (assuming you have tap jump on) whenever you drop to belay move the control stick back towards the stage as you move it upward. They'll use their double jump but when Nana tethers Popo will be above and over the stage. That'll keep you from taking damage from those recovery moves.

I'm not the best at nitpicking so I'm not going to try and go into super-details and tell you something wrong.

EDITS:
I know, I don't have tap jump on so I just pressed the jump input too early (during the beginning of invincibility). So that was just me choking when trying to bungie jump. Just assume I know the techs....I just suck at execution when it comes to tourney time. (Like getting a side-b when trying to desynch a nana IB >_>)

Thanks for the ideas on banana control though.

Oh. x.x My bad. Tourney shenanigans.

Match three you were cruising along pretty well, until last stock. How you get back onto the stage is bit too predictable. Most times you jump from the ledge and I think he eventually caught on and started getting extra damage on you. I know at some points he had banana's on the edge making it a liability to get up, but look for a way to switch it up and throw him off what you're going to do. Instant throwing would've done a whole bunch for you this match too. A lot of times he would throw the naner and charge at you, instant throwing after catching his naners would definitely put that into your favor.

Personally I feel you could use squall a bit more, it'd be a good way to throw him off with as sparingly as you used it. Especially at times ya'll were close together and he didn't have a naner.

You have item desynchs. Use them.

If diddy has a naner and you are unsure what to do, just shield and look for an opening. Also ib > blizz in this mu. Ice blocks stop bananas cold. Learn Z catching. And diddy dash attacks should never hit you. if a banana is infront of you and a diddy is running just shield and see what he does. If they dash attack, grab.

catch with both Z and nair, depending on where diddy is

also learn to catch bananas on ground with just A because you CAN shield then catch it off the bounce easily but good diddys will wait for this an punish

also i dont think using the bananas to desync is very important in this MU, just use them for baiting and punishing something for a free grab

Everything that guest said plus watch out when Diddy has no bananas. He WILL run away and try to get more. That's your time to approach, get his naners, possibly get a hit during his lag. When he went to get naners, you just waited.
