LOL wow that's a cheap move.

Also I don't wanna buy a ps3 =(

I'll see how it goes though. If it turns out to be a good smash game I doubt I could say no haha, though I will miss my smash characters.

Awesome dude, maybe you actually blocked me this time instead of just saying that you did only to directly respond to one of my unquoted posts later, lmao.

Repetitively responding to quoted posts when you have someone "blocked"...just pitiful. only a philosophy major would be that gay(what was your 1st major, btw?).

And look, I know philosophy majors are used to getting laughed at and have an argument ready for anyone who challenges their useless subject. Great. That's wonderful in all, but it doesn't change the condescension in your tone while discussing this subject, like you are the only one who understands obvious *** ****. I mean give me a break lmfao. You are the most clueless mother ****er in this state. It's almost like bitterness that you devoted SO much time to something that ultimately won't get you far in this world(unless you count telling people that they're wrong BECAUSE they don't understand, going places). Idk what cave you have been taking refuge in for the past few thousand years, but the pinnacle of society's understanding is no longer rhetoric/philosophy.

Sorry for stirring the pot(everyone), but I don't get why I should take petty jabs from the guy referenced to everyone OOS as the ****** from NC. I'll pull a philosopher's card and say that his denial of this fact is because he doesn't understand.(maybe philosophy DOES have it's uses...lmao)

just because something is inherent to life, does not necessarily make it 'obvious'

gravity seems pretty obvious now that we already know about it. but it took that newton dude to really say "sup haters, everything accelerates down cuz the earth is big and stuff".

Calling yourself a logical/rational thinker while badmouthing Philosophy is like calling yourself a good driver while driving down the wrong side of the road with your emergency lights on; if you understood the initial concept more fully, you'd realize that your words and your actions are incongruous.

Everyone has their own philosophies, their own logical processes, their own beliefs about the way things are, with varying degrees of certainty and successful application. Regardless, it's so intrinsically part of thinking that saying "**** Philosophy* IS an anti-intellectual philosophy in and of itself. It's like saying "**** the air, it's irrelevant" while sitting there breathing.

EDIT: For reference, I can't see Jesse's posts and I don't want to. Regardless, I'm not trying to offend or insult anyone, rather just trying to explain how philosophy is inherently a part of day to day life, in varying degrees. So much misunderstanding about ubiquitously used and present aspects of life is frustrating.

Of course, the life's lesson are hidden like I quoted from the book before. =P

As for my logic, I never said that my logic was any good, i just do what I think is right. lol.

Clearly this whole fight between Dorsey and Josh has gone on for much longer than just this
But lemme put it to you this way

Your fight
is not important

Your frustrations with each other are similarly temporary
And honestly stupid. The chances to come together and learn from another [which you are doing right now, even if you won't admit it] are so much more important to grow as a person than to fight about useless things

The perspective of time as a useless subject makes life change remarkably, and the ideas of "problems" being useless makes things a lot more interesting.
I was listening to NPR and they were talking about famous issues

This was a while ago so I don't remember it word for word
But basically two sisters didn't talk to each other for FIFTY years because one of them one an acting award and the other didn't
Nothing should really come between family like that
Or even between friends

There were huge riots in Rome where many people were killed because one team won in chariot races than the other

I mean come on
In perspective, let's think about how useful your problems are
Any of them

99.9% of problems are inherently worthless
Simply a distraction from growth and personal perspective

So
shut up

2)
Kage
You should read this book [Points of Departure: Zen Buddhism with a Rinzai view] because I feel like you would really like it

/random philosophical rant

To make this really clear, there is no fight between Jesse and I. If you actually read any of our last exchanges, it's generally me trying to explain things and him ad hominem'ing at me. I admit I unintentionally seem to egg him on by continuing to explain.

Regardless, I consider Dave to be a good friend and an awesome guy, so awkward/bad interactions with his brother are genuinely undesirable.

I have him blocked and have been trying to avoid seeing the stuff he says. I only posted the picture earlier because of what he said, not who said it; it would have bothered me from anyone. You even made an entire post about how incorrect what he said was.

Also, you're correct about almost all problems/misunderstandings being psychological. It is a fantastic realization to implement to understanding because it greatly inhibits progressive action.

EDIT: DJ, I agree pretty whole heartedly about that description of reading Whitman, seriously amazing the way he expresses thinsg. I didn't know you were much of a fan of poetry though, that's awesome.

EDIT2: Zach, while you're reading this, you need to come play me. You live in effing Raleigh and I never see you. :[

Well that was for both of you
Whoever is being the staunchy one here

also
Someone talk to me about nihilism and why it's theoretically the best religion for random reasons
Or possibly the most exciting one

For the singular reason that life is life
is life is life

And that life is people
And people are manipulatable

Jesse doesn't hate josh one bit rofl. And we might not think the highest of philosophy as an academic subject, but mostly we've just been laughing at some of the unnecessary adjectives and SAT words (for lack of a better phrase) that have recently appeared in some peoples' posts that reek of someone trying to show off their vocabulary and sound smart to their peers on a gaming forum.

I may be way off base but this jumped at both of us and we found it humurous lol. Jesse just filters less thoughts than I do.

LOL, to me it's just random words that don't mean all that much more just to emphasize a small tiny other word.. ugh.. Too complicated for no reason.

It has nothing to do with self-esteem, and that seems like a bad general misunderstanding of the way conversations steer in some of our threads.

Then why does he really only target my posts if they appear in various "peoples' posts"?

Also, why is it okay to harass people because they use more words than you (or anyone else)? They don't harass you for using less. The whole issue seems really anti-intellectual for no real reason other than the words used being different than what might be arbitrarily deemed as "necessary".

The problem is this:

In your perspective, the words used are unnecessary or "SAT words".
In my perspective, they are words to be used to describe very specific things as accurately as possible.

I can't speak for everyone else but I just prefer to say exactly what I mean with the vocabulary I have and I happen to know a lot of words (I studied writing and am a writer). It just shows even more so when I'm trying to explain something.

I just don't even know, man. Y'all silly cavemen with gamecube controllers need to get on my academic level. :embarrass:

Frealz though, I like Melee and I like the people in our community. There's a lot of great intellects and hilarious characters floating about and I'm happy to get to talk, chill and learn from them. I don't know why word choice is a dividing factor
unless you post like mother****ing Keith used to oh my god **** that ****ing ****

it's not the words that's the problem... the SAT champ vocab words just assist with his typical post style; like he is just tying the simple minds of NC smash in a mental knot with his amazing knowledge. The word choice in particular emulate this, that is why my bro mentioned them.

written in the 3rd person because it's been re-iterated several times that I'm blocked, although I'm still skeptical. :>
