I would definitely go with Down. Crouch canceling is such an amazingly effective counter technique, and ASDI down can make you do some ridiculous techs and live at crazy percents.

EDIT:

Btw First! XD

Id debate up vs back due to chain throws, juggles, fox, and the shear number of more noticeablely better ups than back overall gannon fox pika(don't figure up b) marth/roy links samus bowser And a few maybe either side cases.

Also that order likely does a street fighter combo and that's where you got it.

You should ask Hax about this, he might have some information that can help you with this tier list.

i think what KK is trying to say is

-Crouch canceling *****
-not approaching *****
-DI up is good so you don't die like a newb when you shouldn't
-neutral idk
-approaching usually means you're disadvantaged (DEPENDING WHAT CHARACTER YOU ARE. Falco can easily get away with approaching thanks to laser mixups, and Fox is just really fast and also has shine. Peach has very little lag thanks to float cancel, and pikachu is fast and can randomly land behind with nairs. outside of these 4 characters, MOST benefit from camping as opposed to approaching.)

that's my interpretation of what he is saying.

My only problem with this tier list is Falcon's knee, Sheik fair/ftilt......

actually forward sucks for the most part, goddamn.

I meant for this to be a troll thread but M2K's post makes me sound smart so I'm gonna roll with that until something better comes along.

Forward. Depends on if the player uses their character aggressively.
Back. SDI in most cases. wave dash backwards to bait opponent.
Down. CC
Up. aerial advantage.
Neutral- don't approach

Back is only good for combo DI (which is give and take cuz u can get terrible wist di), sdi, and for Fox/Falcos back air. Everything else sucks.

Up has chaingrabs, survival DI, SDI, Up B, up smashes and upaerials which lots of chars have great version of.

up > back

You make many good points. But down defeats all. I'd argue that for many it's a lifestyle, not a direction.

Back enabled hungrybox's style as a whole. Think about it.

Back *****.

Also, WD back is a staple for like every character.

waht if u approach w/ bair
what is the dominant direction in that scenario?
C-stick back
Analog Stick Forward

These two vectors add and generate neutrality. In which case there is no direction.

Also, up is a horrible in combos. Getting that extra damage for getting hit by attacks holding back would have gotten you out of.

Well down gives you crouch canceling, spikes and meteors, shines, changes Zelda into Sheik xD, the rest, lets you drop off the edge quickly, drop through platforms.

Down is the best.

Back is also delicious because of WD'ing backwards, back airs, reverse needles.

So much to be said for each direction really.

We're talking about directions on the control stick and the C-stick. What about directions on the analog pad?

1. Up - taunting mad broken
2. Down - Fox calls for help
3. Left - Doesn't do anything, but think of the MINDGAMES
4. Right - Sux.
