I've been listening to a lot of Septic Flesh lately, frick they're good. O_O

I recommend listening to Anubis, Lovecraft's Death, Sangreal or Persepolis off their most recent album.

I'm going to a Cynic concert on Monday It's gonna be so awesome.

EDIT: This concert was the best I've ever been to in my life and I've been to quite a few I got so close to the band members like I could see exactly what they were playing and it just blew me away and I wasnt much into Cynic until this show. Fully blown away at the talent of everybody in the band if you get the chance SEE CYNIC LIVE ITS SO GOOD.

Cynic isn't very prolific. Two albums in 15 years? wtf

as far as metal/core concerts, my two favorites would probably be BTBAM in late 07 supported by Behold, the Arctopus and August Burns Red. August Burns Red was fun, Arctopus was kind of annoying but unique, and BTBAM played all of Colors, only pausing before Informal Gluttony so Blake could bang on the giant gong that was behind him. Then they encored with a Sepultura cover and ended with Mordecai.

then my number one is the first time I saw HORSE the band, as that is what cemented me as a total fanboy. So Many Dynamos and Heavy Heavy Low Low opened up for them and both bands are awesome and different so it wasn't a very typical metal show. HORSE decorated the stage with fake plants and stuffed animals for their set. This was before their Natural Death album so they only had two albums at that point, so they were able to play pretty much every song I wanted to hear. Then they played Murder which was totally new and unheard then. It's not one of my favorite songs but it's a fantastic live song and got me super stoked. I must have lost like 10 pounds in sweat because I only stopped moshing and dancing when they weren't playing. The only bad thing was getting punched in the nuts during the end of Cutsman.

that was my favorite metal show also! it was that same tour too cuz it was with those two bands. august burns red was cool, seeing them that time was what got me into them. and yeah behold, the arctopus was weird as hell. i could dig them sometimes but oftentimes it just sounded like they were jamming, lol.

one thing though,

THEY ONLY PLAYED HALF OF COLORS HERE!!!! >:O but they did end with mordecai, and went out with a bang. and they also had the huge gong haha, which was ****.

That sucks! Which half? Was it just a short set or did they play more older songs?

actually, they did like 3/4ths of it. they started at the top but i remember them not doing white walls. but they did do prequel to the sequel, so yeah i guess they did do more than half.

yeah aside from that they only played mordecai.

ahh man, time for another btbam marathon :]

Cynic also has an EP which is pretty good also, they broke up many times thats why they only have 2 albums but they are writing a new album that didnt take away the fact that the concert was amazing!

Good Mourning/Black Friday and Five Magics were always two of my favorites by them, personally. Although all of KIMB and Rust In Peace were packed with awesome stuff in all the songs. The intros to Skull Beneath The Skin and Looking Down The Cross were two of my absolute favorite moments out of all their stuff.

megadeth sucks
Says some guy who listens to creepy opera music.

Anyways, I find SFSGSW underrated. Songs such as Into the lungs of hell, In my darkest hour, Set the world afire, and 502 are some of the greatest megadeth songs ever.

I agree it focuses more on the vocalist which doesn't have that good of a voice anyway, but I love listening to This godless endeavor.

i dont know if anyone is into atmospheric black metal, from what ive seen, i doubt it lol. but i found this new band called kuldvas and they are pretty cool. heres a link to the page

http://www.youtube.com/user/bulbamonster

i would start off with a song that isnt beyond the horizon cuz that song is much different and more mellow. i like them. my favorite genres of metal are folk and power and prog metal. favorite bands- equilibrium, kamelot, blind guardian, sonata arctica and much more from that kind of stuff

I feel he was getting a little stale. Same with Petrucci. The worst thing about this whole thing is that Portnoy seems to be leaving to tour more extensively with Avenged Sevenfold

Octavarium is pretty decent. The last album I can listen to.

but something always bugged me about it

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zXK9oTOPGWc Dream Theater "Never Enough"

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XPYLIy3FWpk Muse "Stockholm Syndrome"

and it's not just the beginning riff, the whole song is super similar.
I never noticed that, but then again, I've never heard "Never Enough".
That is pretty similar. I love Muse, so I hate to see that happen to them. :urg:

Muse's B-sides are great. They're too underrated.

Edit - Actually, the band as a whole is pretty underrated. I think they deserve more than they get. People just know their popular songs, and nothing else. Their unpopular songs, like Escape, Glorious, and Eteranally Missed are great songs.

er, Muse is one of the biggest modern rock bands around dude.

I used to be completely obsessed with them, before Black Holes and Revelations came out. That album was a little disappointing. The Resistance is one of the crappiest things I've ever heard. So I guess I've grown out of them or something
