I need some good new stuff. I like stuff that is "different" and less generic. For instance, I don't care about stuff like Parkway Drive, Veil of Maya, Oceano, etc. Where it's breakdown after breakdown.

Anything else is fair game. Any kind of metal/metalcore/heavy music will do, though I prefer something energetic, at least a little melodic, and on the faster side. I hate doom/sludge/stoner metal for the record.

Same here.

I got Parkway's new album. Not bad. At least they stick to what they're good at.

I you like August Burns Red, Luigi, Texas in July are good. Not sure if that's exactly what you're looking for, though.

But, Youtube comment: "if ABR had a little brother, it would be texas in july."

Need more stiff by The Abscence, they're quite similar to Arch Enemy and The Haunted, but a tad more melodic. I dig it.
Decapitated are amazing. Spheres Of Madness is brilliant brutality. RIP Vitek.

Been listening to a lot of Behemoth and Strapping Young Lad of late. Behemoth's album Evangelion is soooooo goood. Can't stop listening to Ov Fire And The Void and Transmigrating Beyond Realms ov Amenti.

Anyone listen to Eluveitie?

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iijKLHCQw5o'

Friend just got one of their Albums, Slania and it is pretty **** awesome. They are one of the few folk bands who don't use keyboards for any sounds.
Been listening to Eluveitie since their album Spirit. New album isn't half bad. If you're just getting into them, I'd recommend Quoth The Raven, Your Gaulish War and Bloodstained Ground.

Sounds like you're looking for Between The Buried And Me. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8ZYJHel-mgM

Believe me, I saw them live a few days ago, and they can deliver everything, be it heavy, melodic, noisy, or extremely technical. It took me a while to get past the harshness of their growled vocals, but once I got past it, it was worth every second. They can play virtually anything flawlessly. In the song I linked to, Ants of the Sky, there is a melodic section followed by a country bluegrass section. So yeah, they know their stuff.

Try Skeletonwitch if you're after blackened thrash/death metal. They're pretty good. Have a little bit of a Southern feel to them. I recommend the song Crushed Beyond Dust.

Alestorm if you want Pirate Metal. It's as epic as it sounds, and makes you want to pillage and plunder. I recommend listening to the tracks Wenches & Mead and Captain Morgan's Revenge.

The Berzerker are a great Aussie band. Fusion of heavy industrial, death metal and grindcore. I recommend listening to Corporal Jigsore Quandary.

And in the metalcore section, go for The Agony Scene. Relatively different in comparison to others in their genre. Songs to listen to: Old Scratch, We Bury Our Dead At Dawn, Prey, Will To Bleed, My Dark Desire, Predation.

Woops. My bad, then. At least you already have good taste.
No worries. I always like coming across fellow BTBAM fans!

@ Vermy

Thanks dude. Alestorm is pretty awesome!

Corporal Jigsore Quandary is a Carcass song, not Berserker. Oh they do a cover. Sounds pretty cool, unique vocals, but I like the original a little better though.

And sorry but Agony Scene is exactly the kind of band I had in mind when I said generic metalcore. And dear God, they ruined Paint it Black so bad

I love Sabbath, they are a classic.

A7X new ablbum is out this week, I for one have pretty high hopes for it.

Nightmare is a pretty bad *** song IMO.Mike Portnoy has done well.

Also Pantera's "Great Southern Trendkill" has been released for Rock Band 2, which my friend got a few days ago. It's ****ing amazing.

I love all the classic metal stuff. Sweating bullets and 2 minutes to midnight make GH5 worthwhile.

yeah but now they have Mike Portnoy who is twice as good as Rev was.

Not that that makes the band any better but still.
Wow, I didn't realize that's who they picked up as there drummer. It MIGHT be good then

edit: listening to it, it's way better then there other stuff by adding that drummer

Digging TDEP's Calculating Infinity recently, for some reason.

Also on the border for Converge. So critically-acclaimed on Sputnik, but the vocals almost ruin the awesome instrumentals. At the same time, they also add to the complete intensity they put out.

I've gotten into Coroner and Dark Angel lately. When I first got into metal, I thought Slayer was the heaviest thrash could get, but it seems I was wrong. My only regret is that I somewhat wish they had better recording quality, although that's part of what makes them sound better at the same time. Even so, Masked Jackal and Darkness Descends are rocking my world right now.

I've been listening to Cynic's Traced in Air a lot. Something really bugs me about Cynic. Musically it is orgasmic, but what the hell is up with the autotune vocals on every single song? It's a neat effect but not cool to hear it almost nonstop during the entire album.

Eh I don't like autotune much myself,It takes away the natural talent.

Maybe, but just know that most artists use pitch correction in the studio, at least to some extent. Auto-tune is basically pitch correction pushed to the extreme limit. An artist should ideally have the singing chops to not have to rely on it though.
