They're funny offstage to be honest. I wouldn't mind seeing them live, either. But I don't want them to pull any of that stupid **** on me. I'd hate to see Gwar for that reason. If it weren't for that, I'd see them live.

I think it's good that they don't take themselves too seriously. Not many bands can put off the "we're so brutal" thing without looking ridiculous. I mean, Behemoth are either awesome or laughable, depending on the mood I'm in. But if you are doing it for fun and make it known, then it comes across live much better than being too serious about it.

I agree gm jack, some bands take it to the extremes too. Making them have that thatrical view instead of actually listening particularly for the music.

GWAR are Theater Majors. It's supposed to be a big farcical show, not mindblowing music.

edit: and Whitechapel's kinda lame. They have three guitarists yet have a vastly less complex and heavy sound with bands that have only one guitarist.

This is where I become confused. I thought you said "If you like the sound that comes out of the speakers, great!" So why does it matter how many guitarists they have to make up that sound? It still sounds the same, it just makes it easier on the band... Correct me if I'm mistaken.

So one of those bands who just invited all their friends to play?

Iron Maiden just about pull off the 3 guitars thing as one of them tend to layer harmonies or extra lines on their early recorded lines.

As for new music, i have just got Retraced, by Cynic, and it is mindblowingly awesome. I've also been listening to some Agalloch and really quite like their style.

Yeah, you don't need three guitar players to play "DUN DUN....DUN DUN...DUN...DUN"

As for Cynic, I heard that new EP has some "surprises". Is there a lot of stuff that doesn't sound anything like the last albums?

It's again a really natural progression, like TiA was to Focus. It's generally quite mellow and atmospheric, and the singing in all but Wheels within Wheels seems mostly clean, without the vocoder. It's not particularly metal, and closer to a Pink Floyd progressive sound. That said, I absolutely love it. It's a really intricate, but generally relaxed 20 minutes.

I'm a big deathcore fan, and my favorite band at the moment is Upon A Burning Body
Oh my God. They're amazing. Pick up their album The World Is Ours if you're into deathcore, but I don't recommend their pre-album songs.

Some of my other favorites are Born of Osiris

This song is from their upcoming album, and I think it's a lot better than their previous work

What do you guys think of mutiny within? I am not really into metal, only kind being epic metal but I saw these guys with Sonata Arctica and they really impressed me. They were rediculously tight, their singer is really talented as well.

I am not really big on screaming, but his 'singing' is great and his range is also really good.

Check out this song, it is pretty good.

I love SoaD. I hate calling them nu-metal because they have a much more unique and exciting sound than any other band that is commonly labelled nu-metal.

So? They are still a nu-metal band. They just do it in a way that doesn't instantly annoy fans of most other metal subgenres.

As for Periphery, never heard of the, They don't seem to bad at all, and I'm liking the different vocalists, but they don't seem like anything special.

Agalloch on the other hand have been one of those "why don't I already listen to you" bands that I have recently found.
