You're allowed. You might miss out on the food but you're welcome to smash with us. In fact I'd really like to record a few good matches vs your MK for research purposes.

I'm not a fan of baseball, not because I don't like it, but because the players' unions have ruined the sport. I still like to play it (well, more wiffle/softball).

I just hope they don't ruin football for me too. It's not a good sign when they lift the salary cap :(

i think they should lower the salary cap to the same as a postal worker, let these players get a taste of ramen cooked on a space heater and see if they dont appreciate what they have.

Football has taunt canceling. If they don't cancel their taunts correctly, the league fines them hundreds of thousands of dollars, so they gotta practice that tech skill!

You guys wanna do the usual this weekend? BWW @ 5pm + livestream after?

Players Unions saved the sport back in the day and are still necessary. I don't agree with everything, but I do recognize they are completely necessary when you have a bunch of owners who will stop at nothing to make even more money with their teams.

Here is an example:

Since not all the teams live in equal markets, they have revenue sharing amongst the teams to help small markets keep a budget large enough to stay competitive. Recently, MLB started an investigation against the Florida Marlins because the Players Union tipped off the league about how the Marlins were not spending the money they received. Rather, they were keeping it as part of profits while continuing to trade away their top players and refusing to pursue high dollar free agents.

-----

Football's player union has been just as bad as baseball's. They were saying before last season that there was going to be a lockout after the 2010-2011 season. They had created a list of demands that they knew were not going to be met well with the owners and have not given ground. The owners, for their part, haven't moved from their stance either. A new collective bargaining agreement has to be reached for the 2011 season to take place, but it is looking scarce at the moment. Personally, as big of a money maker football is, it would kill the integrity of the sport if there was a lockout and people would turn on it like they did baseball in the mid-90's.

-----

I'll never understand what you have against unions as the necessities in today's cut throat world force them to exist. I agree that some have grown to outrageous power (see Autoworker's Union), but the working world is a better place with them.

-----

Wow, real life talk is a lot more fun. Have fun this weekend. I'll be at the Orioles game Saturday night with Laura, Chris and Kristen.

Players unions are the reason there's no salary cap in baseball, which is the reason why the teams are wildly unbalanced and the same teams win every year, which is the reason why it's no fun to watch unless your happen to be from a consistently winning city, which is why baseball is no longer America's sport.

tl;dr: Players unions ruined baseball, and they are on their way to doing the same thing to football.

Real life unions are a much bigger subject that I'd rather not get into.

You guys should drop by the hot tub store on your way home from the game. We'll be there.

Unions are good in theory (like most liberal ideas) but suck when put into the real world.

Example:

Labor unions (like construction ones that i've worked with before) are created when the users feel like their boss is abusing their power or not treating them right based on the effort of work they do. This works, because the boss can't do anything without them. So he meets their needs. Of course, people are naturally greedy, so they continue to require things be met and demands be met. So we get this shift of power from the boss to the workers controlling the boss. But now the boss can't fire them all, because he can get sued because they are in a union. Go figure.

It's all a big power struggle.

@ bandit - you are correct, i didnt read your previous response i sure as hell wouldnt read another long one

@ tant - when i worked for a grocery store i was forced to join a union in order to get the job, thats complete bull****. unions are out of control when you cant work for a company unless you join a union.

@ jceez - watch this hilarious long and awesome vid, guitar work is amazing btw.

Labor Unions are great for workers because they guarantee a level of security in there job.

The problem is that labor unions are bad for the consumer. They force the business world to raise prices in order to keep up with Union demands cause you can bet Shareholders and CEOs won't take a pay hit. So if we didn't have unions, yes we would have lower pay and less job security but the prices of goods and services would be much cheaper.

Check it sons:

Ode to JCaesar's Pig

O humble swine, how placid art thee,
your rosey flesh, and regal snout,
are truly products of one so devout,
in the arts of breeding such a lively sow.

You fort-like back,
supports your masters weight,
in the photo it is clear,
no amount of restraint,
wouldst keep thou from pleasing the hand that feeds you.

So noble a creature
surely deserves glorification,
to immortalize thy mortal features,
of rosey flesh and regal snout.

Should it be, then,
of any surprise?
That I typed this up,
with visions divine,
of the Roman Emperor's prize,
the embodiment of his pride.
Mah boy Starturds...

We won last night, 5-4, and I drove in 2 of the runs. I also caught the entire game.

I have a large black and blue mark on my left shoulder blade where I took a ball.
