maybe in the folder strap? can't say for sure testing it out now, I'll tell you when I'm done.

EDIT: nope, hmmm where should it go then....
It actually tells you where to put it in the Where to place Strap Loader.txt that came with the download. But meh it's probably a little misleading if you've never done iso editing before.

Put it in pf/menu/strap.

How would the .gct loader work with the new File Replacement?

Simply put the .gct you want loaded alongside the one booted by Gecko OS at the root of the SD as well? o_O

From what I've heard, you still need the old SD Loader and SD Files codes for the .gct to work, but I think the new File Replacement works with them.

hmmm...it seems my questions got skipped...repost (with additions):

So, lemme get this straight:
1) The new code doesnt require any of the other codes, including Disable Custom Stages.
2) If you use the Double GCT method, this code, the Dynamic SD Loader code, and the SD Files code, all go in the root GCT.
3) If you still use snapshots, it still needs to go in the root GCT and not the BIN snapshot.
4) This code is a helluva lot better than the old code.
5) It's still buggy, and will be fixed soon.

How did you get it so short?

well i dont use snapshots so i cant answer #3, but the gct should still be in the pf folder, only the file replace goes in the second gct if using double gct everything else in the gct that's in /codes. yes its much better, and its a bit buggy, but it only freezes in the begginning. my video uses the double gct for brawl+ and textures.

I made the first version of a Red Koopa Troopa texture for Squirtle, hehe. Still a little dark for my tastes, but it's looking nice for a start. :)

I'm using the "Brawl" Gecko 1.7b, which I believe doesn't have the same line limit as the previous versions? When I load the codes now, "Hello" appears followed by some of my codes and then the discs boots... my current codeset is about 450 or so lines and all my codes seem to be working fine. Will a texture hack work with my version.

I'd like to increase the size of his eyes to look more like the actual Troopas, but it's hard to get a uniform shape on all of them, so I'll have to take my time with that.

By the way, would you guys happen to know offhand where the texture for Yoshi's tongue is in his files? I can't seem to find it, and I want to fix someone's White Yoshi (which they gave a white tongue).

I've been messing around with the new File Replacement code. That freezing problem started happening to me. It'd freeze before the wrist strap screen, like everyone else. How to fix it: After it freezes, press and hold the power button on the Wii until your Wii turns off (red light is on). Then turn it back on and load it again without taking out the SD card or editing anything on the card, and it SHOULD work. That's how I get around it, anyway. I'm assuming it'll be fixed.

Also the new code appears to fix the transforming character textures on wifi. I only tested Zelda/Sheik but so far it didn't dysnc the fight. It also seems like it may fix normal freezing problems during character/stage selection. Not 100% sure though, but if anyone would like to test multiple Bowser textures now, go for it.

I still had it freeze after doing that, so I'm using the old code for now.

Nice, man. Do you still put the character folders in the root of the SD card for this version?

Yes, you still put the textures in the root of the SD card.
Well that's just peachy. Let's just hope that Phantom Wings can fix up the code so that it reads what's inside the "pf" folder.

Does it really matter where it is, as long as it works? Imo, having it in the root makes it easier to access.

Also, I tested it. It works!

EDIT: Starshadow did not release his textures.

OK well I have a couple of questions;

First, I downloaded the .txt file called Alex from the youtube video on the OP and it works great, but now with the new code out can I just replace the code in File Replacement v1.3 with v2.1?

Second, how do I go about adding other codes? For example do I put them in with the Textures .gct, make a seperate one for each, and if I do need more than one .gct where do I place and name them?

These are the other codes i'm trying to use;

Code:

Phantom Wings made an alternate version of the code, which loads the stuff from the pf folder again. It's slightly longer, though.

I doubt it. Streaming from an SD card is a bad idea. Phantom Wings is looking for another way, but it will take some time.
What exactly is the problem with streaming from an SD card? Slowdown? Glitches? Errors and freezes?

Custom music would make the hacking of Brawl complete. Of course, until someone texture hacks the menu screen to look exactly like Melee's :)

It's a great way for your SD card to stop working.

Oh right, because the game doesn't really cache music so every time it loops it has to read off the SD card. The easiest way would be to stream the large file as it's read (large strain on the SD), and it's really the only way unless you somehow delay the game to read the whole track. Even then it has to do this everytime it loops, and doesn't work because that interrupts gameplay.

Is that the reasoning behind why streaming is bad? Or really why it's bad for the SD?
