Oh right, because the game doesn't really cache music so every time it loops it has to read off the SD card. The easiest way would be to stream the large file as it's read (large strain on the SD), and it's really the only way unless you somehow delay the game to read the whole track. Even then it has to do this everytime it loops, and doesn't work because that interrupts gameplay.

Is that the reasoning behind why streaming is bad? Or really why it's bad for the SD?
Not sure, I would think so though. Phantom Wings is trying to put the song on the RAM so the game reads it from there instead of the SD card... but again, this will take time.

Still having problems with that Wii Strap texture, pretty sure it's named differently in PAL. I want to go and open up my copy of Brawl and check where the file is and what it's called, but I can't remember which program does it. Anyone know?

mic I believe its wii scrubber, should be in menu>strap>whatever.pac
thanks, it was wii scrubber. However it also confirmed my suspicions that somethng was different in PAL. Seems it all was! The file's in the root of Menu2 named sc_strap_en.pac Trying to find out how to get it to be swapped sucessfully still.

For the new code, do the textures need to be in the respective character folders on the root? or just there?

Everytime I try and load my yellow lucario it freezes :(
Also my root looks like this F:/fighter/lucario/FitLucario04.pcs

Also when I try and load Diddy, nothing happens
F:/fighter/diddy/FitDiddy05.pcs

File Replacement v2.0 had some freezing issues, based on what RoyMaster4 has seen.

Fortunately, Phantom Wings updated the code and called it File Replacement 2.1. There are two versions of it last I've checked, with one of them reading files from inside the "pf" folder.

If i'm texture swapping with Bowser, do i name his files as FitKoopa or FitBowser? Same question with all the other characters that have a different name as their folder, do we name the files with whatever the name of the folder is (Gkoopa, szerosuit, purin, etc)?

Oh yeah, and how do I get the TGA files to work, I rename them in the same manner as the .pcs and .pac files but they never appear.

Then use the old pf directories and maybe it will work?

FitKoopa; yes;

and you need to recompile the tga into your common5 using CUPASH for any .tga files to show up on the CSS.

turn around....
How do you name Zero Suit?
I've tried so many different capitalization combinations... x_x
Read a few pages in case your question have already been answered.
Not only that, the Original Post tells you what to name who.
Somehow you've missed that....
ZSS in the folders is named Szerosuit.
It's not case sensitive.

Yeah, this isn't working for me.
Here's my Root for my SD: G:/private/wii/APP/RSBE/pf/fighter/ike with LORDIKE03.pcs and RoyIke00.pcs in the "ike" folder.

I followed pretty much every instruction and it still didn't work. Here's my code list:
Thanks to Igglyboo for support and bkirch for the inspiration.

v1.3 - fixed one of the leading causes for the freezing.
v1.2 - No longer have to wait in the CSS before textures are loaded. Remains untested, so expect at least a bit of freezing maybe.
v1.1 - Fixed to work for stages.
v1.0 - Replaces all files read from the disk with any files of the same name on the SD card.

Disable Custom Stages v1.1:

I experimented and tried to use the textures when I tried playing with computers. Didn't work. Don't mind the other codes, they're not the problem. I tried using the textures without them, and the textures still didn't work. I even waited until the Wii would stop beeping, even though I didn't have to and it still didn't work. I don't understand what the problem is . I don't think I created the GCT incorrectly. I named it RSBE01 in CodeManager and exported it to my GCT. And I doubt I'm passing 256 lines of text. Speaking of text, how do you measure how many lines of text you have? Sorry for the long post XD.
Edit: I have three folders in G:/private/wii/title/ called rzde, rzdj, and rzdp. Are they the problem?

The title folder just contains the savegames you copied to your SD card. They have nothing to do with textures.

~sighs~ I posted this in the original code post, but do people pay attention to details? Nooooo.:dizzy: All codes ending in _en are loaded without that particular part in the name and thus must not have it in the name of the pf file. So what you're going to use is sc_strap.pac.

Ok, on my youtube video I've got some people complaining I believe about both the US and PAL version and I believe they have something in their "private" folder they have to overwrite before they can actually use the texture codes. And I checked the directories, they seemed to be fine. Missing anything??

Read a few pages in case your question have already been answered.
Not only that, the Original Post tells you what to name who.
Somehow you've missed that....
ZSS in the folders is named Szerosuit.
It's not case sensitive.
I know what to name the folders, but the PCS/PAC files.
Aren't they case sensetive?

I flipped through the first 20 pages (Word find on Firefox <33) and I didn't get an answer, either.

Can't tell if you don't post anything for me to check... If they're using versions 2.0 or 2.1b then the files will need to be in the root. But aside from that, I'll need to see their directories for myself.

You have to name the files "FitIke03.pcs" and "FitIke00.pcs". From what I hear the bold parts MUST be named that.

Hey all!
First post! So hi to everyone!

Anyhow, to the point,
I saw this thread and i was very excited to hear of the possibility of loading textures from the SD card. So i used File Replacement 2.1 code, and nothing. My .pcs 's are on the root of the SD. I formatted my SD and tried again, no go.

I can't seem to figure out whats wrong :urg:
Any suggestions?

Heres my .gct and .pcs files (7zip'd):

6. Once you have all the folders you want for the characters you want textures for, visit a few texture sites (listed below) to grab cool textures you like (this list will likely grow over time):

Stack Smash
Kitty Corp.
I can't seem to find download links anywhere on Stack Smash, can anyone direct me to them? And the second link is broken.

There are two versions of the File Replacement v2.1 code. My guess is you're using the version that reads files inside the "pf" folder.

Try storing the files in the directory setup shown below and try again. If that doesn't work, try the older versions of the code. Just keep note that the file replacement versions below 2.0 require the Dynamic SD Loader and SD Files codes to work properly.

(SD drive)\private\wii\app\RSBE\pf\fighter\(Fighter Name)\Fit(Fighter Name)0#.pcs

For more information about the fighter names, go to the primary post of this thread.

Ok did that, trying again.

Here's my new .gct file. If you could "proof-read" it, thanks, and please see the .pcs files in my other posts.

EDIT: It works now! Great!
Glad to be of assistance for you. Strangely enough, I have yet to test out this code, due to me lacking the HBC at the moment.

Just for reference, i used File Replacement 2.1a (Phantom Wings) code.
Not the regular 2.1, or 2.0.

Just for reference, i used File Replacement 2.1a (Phantom Wings) code.
Not the regular 2.1, or 2.0.
Just to give you some additional pointers, File Replacement v2.1a reads files from inside the "pf" folder. File Replacement v2.1b reads files from the root of your SD card. Both of which are made by Phantom Wings himself.
