Texas Power Rankings: So Incredibly Dead!

Itll probably be finished after HOBO 11 or my doubles tourney so that we get some more accurate results from these newcomers. PS, come to my doubles tourney.

El Paso is discussing about going to HOBO 11 but we/actually me Are having $$$ issues. To Austin itself its an 8 hour drive. If we don't go to HOBO i guess we can make it for yours BUT we got players that would want to do singles. Like they wouldn't just travel for a 2 v 2 tourney.

It's not just a regular 2 v 2 tourney. It's using Swiss so it'll be much more competitive and for the average person it guarantees them far more rounds than a DE bracket. In fact, it even guarantees them more rounds for one 2 v 2 tourney than it does for a DE singles and doubles bracket combined. We've also got some sick MMs going down.

It uses points instead of elimination. The players with the most points in the end move on to an elimination bracket. This allows for more people to play more times and, at the end of the day, tests skill more than luck and allows for "oops" type things to happen.

Of course, this is all theory. Actual practice may be completely different with Smash, since in Smash you make your own luck.

In Swiss, first round is completely random. If you win, you get 1 point if you lose you get 0 points. Every round after the first, players only play against others with the same amount of points. It matches people up with others of comparable skill level, it gives a better representation of skill, it CAN be faster (if you have enough setups), and it guarantees everyone gets to play more rounds (in my tourney's case, 5 or 6). Then the top players with the most points are seeded into a DE bracket for championship matches.

It's so much more awesome than DE that Swiss women will pop out and give you sexy time while you play.

There was discussion after Hobo10 about this; they're upping it to 15 and adding 2 panelists IIRC.

I have a fairly good idea where a few people will be, but I am a bit surprised the list wasn't ready by around Lee's tourney. It's probably hard getting a hold of Dr. Drew though, don't know how often he checks stuff.
