This thread is for everything relate to those critters on your games. In this thread you may partake in the following :

Talk about a shiny you found, show off a pokemon you bred, or a legendary that you caught. You may also ask for opinions on a pokemon you've obtained if you're unsure if you should keep it. You can ask for opinions on what to breed next as well.

The only requirement is that it must have some value. Don't ask if yould keep that docile Mewtwo. The answer is obviously no.

I know there are quite a few breeders and shiny hunters out there. This thread is for you guys.

I've got 3 shinies: a Golbat, a Graveler, and a Magcargo

Golbat came from a trade. My friend was selling his Sapphire and Emerald and I, wanting as many trainer IDs as I could get for the lottery, asked for his shiny Golbat.

The Graveler is from a random encounter on the Celestic Town side of route 211 on my Pearl, which I think I encountered post-E4 while working on my pokedex.

Magcargo was encountered on Platinum in Stark Mountain. Unfortunately for me, it happened while I was traveling with Buck, but I acted quickly and intelligently (killed Buck's Claydol as fast as I could) and managed to capture it.


I've also encountered a shiny Lickitung on Platinum, but unfortunately wasn't prepared and it ended up killing itself.

Shiny Marill in the pond next to the Winstrates' House in Ruby. Shiny Onix at the end of Victory Road and Shiny Raticate near the Miltank farm in Gold Version. Shinies are nice, but I hate that some look worse than the normal-colored ones.

Dratini, Resetting for good nature and acccidentally getting one.
Graveler, exploded on me and died before I could catch it.

Because of the ammount of times I've played saphire, emerald, ruby and firered I've aquired quite a lot of master balls, which I've used to capture my 4 shinies through chaining.

First was Roselia thats now a Roserade. I love this shiny.

Next was Electrike, and then Wobbeffett. All these shinies look great.

I have another one too I think.

I found and caught a shiny Sneasel by Mt. Silver in my Gold version.

I also found a random shiny Bellsprout on one of the islands in LG (I forget which one it was).

Fire Red: Fearow, Cubone and a Zubat.
Emerald: zubat (again ugh), poochyena.
Diamond: starly .
Platinum: none
Heart Gold: none

I have bad luck in the recent ones .

Well im not going to name all the shinies i have got by trade because that would be like a box or 2 full lol.


Firered- Diglet, Pidgey, Growlithe, Geodude

R/S/E- Medicham, Tranpinch, Zangoose

D/P- Starly (I dont remember any other shinies in D/P that i actually got by randomness but this starly made me sooooo mad because it was the first pokemon i ever seen in the wild xD. So yeah i didnt have any pokeballs yet because i had not got that far in the game yet lol.)


Then ive had a lot of other shiny pokemon by chaining and trading but like i said b4.. im not going to name them because there is to many lol. (Im a breeder and a shiny hunter so... yeah i go out of my way to get shinies that i like xD)

Off the top of my head, I can remember two shinies. One was a shiny Milotic my sister obtained when she went to a Pokemon event, and the second was a random shiny Onyx (which evolves into STEELIX! YES!) which she found while traversing Victory Road one day.

But we've never really found any shinies by chaining, despite the increased chances of getting them that way.

I never encountered shines in the GSC era

In RSE I got a green Maril surfing on the right side of Foretree city, my cousin first saw it on my screen saying "DUDE IT'S GREEN, CATCH THAT SH*T". and I did

I found a blue Numle near the kart lift while fooling aorund

In Emerald I found a blue Spinarak in the safari zone and somehow caught it first try, thought it was going to run away

Unfortunately when my Emerald was stolen I lost all but Maril, witch became my Orange Azumarill


In DPPT I found a green tipped Piepler while on the route after the Elite 4

I know I am forgetting something else, but I seem to have good luck catching all shines I see

WOW have you like ever even playing GSC?? There is a red dos in the game that is already shiny. Im pretty sure you got it its just you forgot about it i guess.

It's already an unspoken rule. Pretty much, if you DON'T have a Red Gyarados from G/S/C/HG/SS and you've played them, you fail. If you do, no one cares.

I've always thought of how much it would suck if you found a random shiny Gyarados at the Lake of Rage. You've got no proof that you found a legitimate random shiny and it doesn't have much value due to the Red Gyarados already in the game.

i found a shiny geodude in mt coronet in diamond but it got crit hitted by a weak attack and died =[

however i then found a shiny ponyta while running through the grass on the route where it rains. i caught it and put im my team cause blue flames look awesome and i was looking for fire mon at the time =p

Other than Red 'Dos, I've only found one shiny, that being a Cleffa. It was a random encounter in Mt. Coronet, and I nearly pissed myself, because I'd never found a shiny (other than 'Dos in GSC and another in HGSS ) before, though I knew about them.
Traded it for a Latios, haven't seen a non-fixed shiny since. ;-;

I'm not going to list the ones I got from trading.

Gold: Goldeen and Nidorino. I'm certain that I found a few others but my memory is fuzzy on those.
Pearl: I chained for Magnemite and ended up getting around 8 of them. I know I got others but I can't remember since I traded a few away.
HG: I reset of a shiny Ho-oh and that's it so far. I might reset for other fixed legendaries.

A shiny Electrike in Sapphire? (I don't remember the game but I did catch one)
And, most recently, a shiny Rhyhorn in Platinum. It's got a pretty good Nature and IVs, too. And Lightningrod.

I know i shouldnt say anything about the red dos but i am, i just got it on my SS and its a lonely nature with 29 ivs in speed and 18/20 ivs in everything else. I might boost it up and use it for wifi battles lol. Just because its a shiny caught in a premier ball hahaha

Shiny Mewtwo on Leaf Green.
I had Pearl at the time and hadn't touched that game in at least a year, so I decided to just beat the Elite 4, explore the Sevii Islands, and go to Cerulean Cave to get to Mewtwo. By the time I got there I just thought screw it, and decided to keep soft resetting to get it, it took me around 8 or so hours in total, over a few months XD.

However, I've never encounted a shiny Pokemon in the wild sadly. And the chance of me finding a shiny male Pokemon with a good nature in the wild is like slim to none.

Remember I said I was Masudaing for a Kangaskhan? I give up. I used 6 boxes and counted about 300 Kangaskhans in there. I dont wanna hear, see, smell, touch, or even TASTE another Kangaskhan. I spent 3 straight days on it and nothing. I suspended all training and trades for it and nothing. I hate my abysmall luck... seriously...

I might rng one next time though... once I can download the software on my somputer that is...

Im actually a breeder and shiny hunter so im perfect for this thread xD. (Im 100% retired from battling now)

Well i know how to do the pokeradar shiny hunting in d/p/p but how do you do it in hg/ss?

Also to get a shiny legendary do i just save it in front of it and then click on it then if its not a shiny turn off the game then rinse and repeat until its finally a shiny? Like does this work pretty well? (Im prob going to be the only person to actually do that on every legendary in the game xD) Nah i'll only do it to the ones i really want shiny.

Also i dont really breed for shines, i just breed for nature and ivs for other people and i like to get shines in return because shinies are all i care about lol.

Yes, you save in front of it and soft reset if its not a shiny. Soft resetting is pressing L, R, Start, and Select at the same time. It restarts the DS faster than just turning it off and on again.

I've got Shiny Golem (Serious nature, all ivs 20ish..meh, it's pretty?)
Shiny Gyarados(lulz) with good ivs (all 28+ but 15 att..worth it on DD Gyara in my opinion since
it has 31 speed)
Shiny Raikou as a gift, it has multiple 31's in spatt/speed/hp, and it's legit =)

Aside from that I've been breeding what I call the "1st gen" of pokemon. My 9 teams = about 60ish pokemon bred/caught(legendaries). I broke it down into generations so I can record it organize-like on my notebook (lol I'm such a looser) I've gotten:

Aside form >.> yay I did all this, I mention it because I have a huge stock of timid gastlys and adamant technician scythers that have good ivs, all scythers have 31att and most have 20+ everything else except sdef and maybe hp. The Gastlys have 31spatt and 25+ speed, with defenses varying.

I remember in my Blue version, I caught over 100 Meowths to get a good Meowth.

It was like 8 HP / 15 Atk / X Def / X Special / 14 Speed.

Then my internal battery decides to die.

Wow, that's a lot of Pokemon. If I were you, I'd trade some of those Gastly and Scyther.

I have been <,< I got a japanese mew, a bunch of tms, and a movie regigas (finally) for some of these. People seem to die for good iv pokemon...

Thing is, I'm about to start Bagons/Gligars/Eevee(Jolteon) and a few others, so if I can't get rid of 38 gastlys and 7 scythers, I'm about to have 20+ of each of those as well, lol.
