Speaking of Dhalsim, I just had the most awesome comeback as Blanka in a ranked match against one. I have no idea how to fight Dhalsims lol, I had a tiny sliver of health and said "**** it, i'm gonna jump in on him." I play it safe so i rarely jump in at all.. So I jump in and get a combo, cross him up a bunch of times with Surprise Leap, hit him with Vertical Roll when he jumped, everything was going perfect. Now we both barely have any health, he teleports away from me. He throws out Yogaaa Catastrophe!!! I'm like ohhh **** cause I know he's about to teleport to the other side of me. No idea what to do, out of desperation I grabbed him and won the match

Had a wii. Sold it. Bought a PS3. Sold it. Bought a Wii again. Terrible decision. Considering selling it to buy a 360 =p. The online experience on the PS3 was extremely disappointing.

Who here plays with a madcatz pad/stick?

Wow... Emblem Lord's Sagat's quite a beast.
Seems like he's good at controlling the field.
He doesn't leave to many openings like a good Sagat player should.

Ken34, your Viper looks better. You're better than I am right now, so I can't really give any pointers.
All you can do is practice your execution and your difficult matchups.

@Ken34

Def. saw a change in your playstyle and approach with your Viper since the matches against the Ryu.

So I'd like to ask you if you've watched them over what did you like about your playing style and where do you feel that you perhaps need to work on or change to do better.

But I'll agree with Minato...Emblem Lord has that special kind of Sagat that when you let him get in the spot that he likes you can't get to him or move him away from there without giving the advantage to him.

Bummer that I play on the 360...I'll try and find out a friend's PS3 name since I learned alot about Street Fighter from him and I'm sure that he can give you a good match as well as pointers.

Haha sorry this might be sarcasm that I'm missing but its just that I really don't have much experience with Sagat and truth be told you have a very solid game.

You knew the match-up well and whenever he made a mistake you capatilized on it. Ken34 is still working on his viper so he's just asking for input so that he can improve.

Out of curiosity do you have any comments to Ken34 so that he might be able to do better next time you guys play?

do you mean if ive watched over the matches against Emblem Lord? if those are the matches you are talking about, then i saw times i got impatient and got unnecessary damage from tiger shots, i definitely need to be more patient. its also the reason i loose to scrubs online sometimes, i get too impatient. viper is a reckless character, so sometimes i get very reckless with her.

i dont think anyone on here plays sagat seriously. SRK is probably the best place for you to go. although they probably will just bash my viper and not give you much advice at all, but it is worth a shot.

@ken34

once you become impatient you will make small errors where you shouldn't but I really don't have any right to say much in that regard...when I tried using viper in trial mode and saw what you had to do for inputs i spoke many words that aren't nice and stuck with my ol' Vega.

I suppose just learning her ins and outs and just getting the combos down to hit reaction is really what you'll need to work on but I saw against emblem lord you used more pressure with your high/low knuckle and the overhead. You just need to get that opening and you'll see that some match-ups aren't as tough as they first seemed...

Unless...yknow your Vega vs. Blanka...that match sucks

My advice: Don't take the bait when I tiger shot once or twice then I stop and wait. I want you to jump at me so I can TU or roundhouse you. Mix up your BK's but get your spacing right. Viper has land lag and that means a free combo when she does an empty BK. Get your spacing down so you can bait my retaliation attempt then you can punish, usually stuffing me with a Fierce Thunder Knuckle.

Don't get too happy with pressure strings into Thunder Knuckle. If I guess right and TU you then it's a counter hit which means you take even more damage. That said, you can condition me to expect those strings then bait a TU and punish.

Low thunder knuckle is pretty **** good. Goes below my TK's pretty consistently. FA absorb my shots, low knuckle under high ones and high jump to weak BK over low ones. Dodge my stuff while building meter. Give me my control of the field while still building your meter which increases your own offensive options when you get ex stocks and ultra.

If I whiff something, make me feel the pain. Seriously.

I just got the game, and it is awesome. I have tow questions:

a) Can the 360 version and the PS3 version play each other online?
b) Anyone mentoring these days?

What are the recommended arcade sticks? I don't feel like paying some ridiculous price for a controller I'll be using for one game, but I want something that will be decent enough for me to be able to get into the competitive scene.

Two different games...
same feel.
all the sf2 pros are pro at sf4.
just take out the loops and replace it with focus attacks and you're set :D

@melo: making one yourself can be fun, enjoyable, and can even teach you new stuff like soldering. the end result will make you so happy that you made something you can call your own.

or you could get one custom made.

Where can I go for instructions on how to build my own?

And crap, man, customs are expensive :psycho:

thats very contradictory on your part. you want to be apart of the competitive scene but you dont want to spend the money on the "perfect" stick to cater to your needs?

Not very contradictory. I'd give you a little contradictory, but not very (see: "...I want something that will be decent enough...").
I want a stick that will get the job done. I don't need a perfect stick, just something that will be good enough.

Well a custom stick from electric trouble for xbox 360 with all of the least expensive parts is 150 shipped. Or you can just wait until special edition madcatz sticks ship again and get that for 80.

Finkle from shoryuken also makes sticks.

Does anyone else have a problem with execution in training mode as compared to execution in a match? Like for instance I've been using only Boxer lately and when I practice his combos in training mode I can pull them off just about 100% of the time. Jab -> Jab -> short -> headbutt -> ultra is one example. But when I go to play an actual match I can never pull it off. I haven't even pulled this combo off once in a real match even though I've tried many times. Is the pressure from my opponents attacks? I use a 360 controller

Make sure that you have enough charge, also make sure you are continuously holding Back before, during and after the headbutt. It's common knowledge yes, but in the heat of battle you can get mixed up quite easily.

Spur of the moment. It's easy to do something relatively complicated when you're at leisure. Not so much when you're in the thick of it. Happens to me all the time.

QFT!

As everyone has said, it's different in practice to real time, because in real time, it's hectic and your putting your brain into overdrive. However for me, and this is just an example of another game, however when I first started to learn A-Groove in CvS2, I would do the same as you, practice the execution until I got it down nearly flawlessly. Then I would start to use it against people, however I wouldn't be able to land it nearly as well as I would have in practice mode.

However, I continued anyhow, because not only was I getting better at executing it in full time play after getting destroyed for not finishing it or messing up all the time, but I was also picking much better situations in when to use it.

Basically, practice makes for near perfection, you will most likely get owned for trying to incorporate something new that's effective, however, just keep going at it, and before you know it, you'll be able to do it on call.
