So does anyone care about PM right now or is it all just FC hype?
Terrence (as far as I know) and I are both very pumped up about P:M and we try to play when we can. It's been a few weeks but mainly because we were preparing for the big Pathways tourney. I personally like the game quite a bit and Charizard is amazing. To be more than honest, I think at this point Terrence is the better player (his Zelda is amazing!). We are usually down for some P:M Chris so hit is up. Also I know for a fact Terral and Robbie are both enjoying P:M as well. Also Nathan has pretty much quit Melee since the release of P:M and wields a pretty solid Lucario and Pit.

Miguel, we had a discussion before.

You said that you had no hope for smash 4 because it is not GC controller compatible.

WELL THIS IS LEGIT. THIS IS A COMPETITIVE CONTROLLER.

That looks like an XBox controller.

Did I mention that smash 4 is going to be on the DS? Non competitive. Might as well play the Sony ripoff.

Zelda's all gimmicks. So is Sonic. That controller looks like a dyslexic version of a PS3 controller. I want to play sometime.

You act as if its capacity to be played on the DS as a downgraded version of itself makes it a ****ty game. It will do nothing to the competitivity unless Nintendo messes up really hard.

There are much better arguments towards why the game will disappoint than that. Examples would include Brawl being terrible and Nintendo and many other developer's continued approach towards accessibility and not competitive depth or quality.

I think you need to play some good Zeldas, like Terrence. P:M is not Brawl. Zelda is all about powerful stage control, patience, spacing, and hard punishes. I think that's why Terrence plays her so well.

Wretched, the game will suck and there is no way around it. I mean honestly you said yourself you werent impressed with p:m, so how could smash 4 really impress you?

This was my first thought, too. The 360 controller is a clone of the GCN controller, which is basically perfect. 360 controller isn't quite as good, but at least the control placements are right. I'm not very fond of putting the analog sticks up top, but I know it's just to make it the same layout as the game pad with the touch screen (and for that, the analog stick placement makes sense).

Nah It's not Chibo, and Michael you wouldn't want an NJ/MO crew battle, it'd be embarrassing for MO :)

That's a challenge if I've ever heard one. Who's going to buy the first plane ticket? :p

So, no Smash at Nintendo's E3 conference. Is this for the best?

Apathy is all I feel. If the WiiU doesn't do GC games, I have no interest. If it did, that means you could have melee on an LCD TV with no lag because there's no signal conversion... But alas, completely apathetic about wiiU.

It would be nice if they brought back those gcn flashback games or whatever they were called for the wii. A rerelease for Melee would most likely be done if they did this. Still no gcn controllers but DIY converters could be made. I'd take the time for it if I were to get HD Melee in return.

Final D never looked so good..

Core info was cool but presentation sucked. Also no software.

Sony/Ubisoft outperformed by actually showing interesting games. If Nintendo dropped a couple bombs and didn't put such a family casual face on their sweet new tech, they woulda swept it easily.

Agree with you there. If they do re-release melee as a downloadable game, and I can use a GC controller, I think I would end up getting a WiiU... plus it would be the console my kids grow up with :urg: I used to have an HD CRT, but I got rid of it cuz it was SOOO huge for only 32" of actual screen. Playing melee on that was incredible just cuz of how clear it was, it really made a difference in my accuracy... at least it seemed that way.

At least they announced Pikmin 3, and three Mario games. That's something. I'm almost sold on just Pikmin 3, because it looks like everything I loved about the first two Pikmin games, plus everything I wished they had.

Err... as of about 3 days ago, this already exists. Widescreen support too.
... I'm skeptical. Found a couple vids of 720p and true 16:9 play, but it's all Dolphin stuff from 2010. I'd be a happy man if this is for real real.

I probably will buy the WiiU eventually, after a year or so when they get some bugs out... if anything cuz mein Vii ist kaput and won't read dual layer games. And it'd be nice to have for the kids, and for one possibly-good Zelda game. I have to wonder if P:M will work on the WiiU given that it plays Wii games and accepts SD cards...

I figured that was going to come up. Are we talking about Dolphin? Widescreen support has already been a part of that for a while, hasn't it?
There has been a widescreen hack for a few years. It is garbage and messes up the shaders in the game.

IE (the dude I'm working on Melee:Online with) has devised a method by which to change the camera FoV so the shaders are stretched correctly to the widescreen aspect ratios.

He and I are also working on high resolution HUD textures to augment this.

The FoV fix is a simple AR code you can apply through dolphin and the HUD textures will be forthcoming in the near future, I'm sure.

We've also ironed out most of the kinks from PC emulation, most people should be able to run the game just fine(locally) on their PCs using an updated shadercache file and a gamespeed fix (if you machine is pokey). I plan on having an HD melee setup on my basement widescreen whenever I get some more GCN>USB adapters.

Massive you are just amazing. <3 Massive.

You are literally going to be the reason why hundreds (if not thousands) of people just like me continue to play Melee for years to come, including online eventually. I couldn't possibly thank you enough.

Seriously?

I'm pretty much the only person working on the actual part to make it "online".
Sounds like a lot of people have alot of reason to be grateful for the hard work you're putting in. I'm simply going to be one of many people who benefit.

Thanks dude, I simply cannot wait to play online melee. It'll be sweet to be able to play my favorite smashers from other states, all from the comforts of my own home.

I may never use Melee Online, but thanks for what you're doing for the community. I hope it's alright if I pick your brain in a few weeks when I start trying to add online to one of my games.
