This was a good idea, it was getting tough following the two other Springfield topics plus the one from Boliver. I'll bookmark this one and we can let the other ones die. I should have mod powers pretty soon so maybe one day I'll close those

FYI - BHLMRO = Zantetsu.

Springfield melee is growing so rapidly I think we'll be a force in not only Missouri smash, but Midwest smash before too long. Keep up the good work guys!

EDIT: Oh by the way guys, I got us housing for the Lawrence tournament at Jace's house. If you don't know who he is, he's a good IC/Falcon player from KC. He lives close to the venue, in a apartment/dorm. He has enough space to house all of us It'll be good practice before the event.

It's a modification of brawl that added more competitive depth to the game such as hitstun, speed increase, etc. I don't play it anymore because I've found a better modification, which happens to be Project: M. If you go to the Brawl workshop forum, you can learn more about it.

I was actually a top player in Brawl+ a few years ago :] (not a big deal, but I do know what you're talking about). I also like PM alot too, hoping they don't ruin that And yeah I'm looking forward to the move! I kinda feel welcome already

That's good to hear because you are most certainly welcome. Don't feel too special though, all new smash players are welcome in Springfield! Lol...

^Idk what program you are doing, but I'm in my second year of law school right now and I find that I have a ton of free time, so don't bet too intimidated. When I first started I was afraid that I wouldn't have any fun for the next three years, but I still go to tournaments and do other stuff all the time.

You got a lot of tournaments in your tournaments history. Though I can't tell if most of them are brawl/melee/something else. Got any singles melee vids up?

You look solid, probably same skill level as where I was in 2007. Not sure if you've seen 'em but we have our own youtube page that the vids from the monthlies go to. You can check 'em out here. A lot of the guys are still learning but Zantetsu (no recent vids of him) aka BHLMRO aka the guy that made this thread is also very good and improving rapidly. DrewBear, BoP, Terral, and -Tempest- are all also pretty decent and learning quickly.

Well a little backstory about me I guess.

I got into melee on my first day of college. My "tour guide" or w/e happened to be ranked 10th or something in NJ. He beat me in a 1 stock match in 7 seconds. Fox vs his jiggs. Uthrow rest. No DI...I forever hate jiggs.

Anyway, I played melee alot and just got by with my bull**** combos since I have little tech skill. I'm a much smarter and patient player thanks to brawl, but yeah...I love melee. I only play brawl for the money I used to make.

Non smash related....I just graduated college, starting a Physical Therapy program at Southwest Baptist University in Bolivar. Hopefully I'll be able to hang out with you guys

Good luck trying to get me off starcraft 2 I mostly play that and Marvel vs Capcom 3. I don't own a wii or a gamecube lol...I would kinda just go play other people (hence why my tech skill was never that great lol).

Oh Starcraft 2 is fine. I myself have dabbled a bit in Starcraft: BW. I just mean exclusive out of the smash games...er actually not even that. It's cool to play Smash 64, Melee, and Project M. But not Brawl, lol.

I'm just playing...I got friends that play Brawl. But I honestly think you can maximize your smash potential by focusing on either melee or brawl.

We have Crismas and Tec0, but that's about it as far as I know.

But Pikachu is kinda hard to use in Melee, well atleast IMO. He does seem to have potential though. I would of chosen Peach but My friend Axe back in Arizona, really wanted me to learn Pikachu so I'm doing it for him. :] Maybe I will second peach idk , but based off of everything she is my best character. Though I don't think she can wavedash? I was trying with her but i couldn't do it at all.. Now I feel dumb if she can't . ;=; I feel soo dumb haha, I've only played melee 7 times in my life so I don't know much about the game at all.

If someone can get me to where I feel comfortable with melee, I'd def. switch since I hate when people camp in brawl and how everyone mains mk and snake, makes the game super annoying since I main mid and low tiers. ( Don't forget tripping):/ Also I heard MK is banned at these tournaments? D:

Do you guys ever give out prizes for the tournaments? I saw it was a no entry fee tournament.

Yeah, Pikachu will be quite hard to learn since he is a very odd character but you'll be able to learn fast since Terral is learning Pikachu as well. Peach will probably be an easier character to learn since she doesn't have too deep of a metagame. She can wavedash, by the way.

I don't think Meta is banned in the tournaments because I used him in the one back in January. Plus, there would be no reason to ban him since we don't have hardly anyone maining him or Snake.

As for prizes, I don't think there has been any yet. Personally, I'd prefer a tournament with a free entry and no prizes then one with a fee and prizes.

Smym!!!

Guys I am desperately trying to find a way to get to SMYM this weekend. LinkMO from Columbia is willing to house us friday night and provide transportation to the venue in Champaign, IL. I MIGHT be able to take my car. All I need is people to go to split gas monies with. All an all, I think you could get by with a bare minimum of $60 for the whole thing. That's including entry fees, gas money, and food (if you eat lightly). You'd be much more comfortable with around $75 to $100 though.

Someone text me or PM or post up if you have any thoughts on going.

Hey guys, A.R.K. III (One of the South's largest fighting game tournaments) is coming up on April 2nd at Conway Gaming Center in Conway, AR! We are expecting at least ~120 people at this tournament featuring games such as Melee, Brawl, Project: M, SSF4, BB:CS, Tekken 6, Arcana Heart 3, Marvel Vs. Capcom 3, and more! The Smash portion of the event will be run by Smashboard's own VTS and we will have a recording station available for you to record whichever matches you deem necessary (just work it out with the station manager).
