hey what other games are as **** as the following:

- Portal
- Braid

that's all i know =/

Btw I'm not very far into Grandia II at all, but I think it's a great game and I'm enjoying what I've experienced so far. So thanks everyone for the suggestions, and thanks Sheridan for suggesting the second iteration of the series.

Star Ocean 2 for ps1 ***** in terms of Action RPG style (and horrible voice acting) but you need to know how to access all the extra stuff in ur playthrough or you risk not getting the full package

Kira, you might try Ico or Shadow of the Colossus for PS2. SotC is a lot more well known but I like Ico a little more.

The character development stuff in SO2 is really cool. The battle system is interesting but kinda janky. In principle you can let the other members of your party be controlled by AI but in practice you have to micromanage for some of the harder battles in order to win (or you can just grind I guess). The one with the guy that says "Spicule!" is hard as ****. I remember when the ads for it were on TV and they talked about how it has like 80+ endings, but most of those are minor variations in text of ~10 endings or so.

I also like Ico more than SotC.

edit: SotC is still fun. There are a lot of neat ways of beating the bosses aside from the intended ones.

on the topic of innovative games, i really like mirror's edge. its kind of hard to control towards the beginning, but once you get your tech skill down you can pretty much do whatever you want

what's the difference =\

people either know what it means (almost everyone) or they don't (almost no one); why would the F matter?
IB "Rules are rules."

I think people forget that rules (and laws, for that matter) aren't (or rather, shouldn't) enforced for the sake of being rules, but as specific objective manifestations of general principles/ideas. Few rules, if any, are ever -exactly- subsets of the principles they are supposed to embody, but they mostly are, which leads to people erroneously conflating the two. Case in point, Moderation is ultimately supposed to exist for the benefit of the people who visit the forum, and rules are designed for that purpose (no spamming, defamation, etc.), but rules must still be subordinate to the principle by which the rules were established - once it becomes obvious that a rule serves no purpose to that end except for jobsworth individuals (not you Edrees, or anyone in particular) to invoke at their leisure, it's time to abolish that rule. There is no rational argument for censoring words except that it has the impetus of tradition and some people's attitudes/feelings are irrationally tied to tradition for tradition's sake.

Lovage (or someone else who is smart), help me out!

I have several questions on Pivoting. I've been practicing it with Falco but I'm not sure when you can cancel your dash animation. I know it's supposed to be when you're standing upright in your dash animation but when I lower the speed to 1/4x in training mode I can turn around for the majority of the animation. Yet, when I put the speed back to normal, no matter how fast I jam the control stick, I'll only get a pivot like 1/6 of the time and at the very beginning.

Also, to pivot, do you need to lightly press the control stick or can you jam it as hard as you like?

One more thing which may or may not have something to do with the last question. When the speed is lowered to 1/4x, I'll turn around near the end of the dash animation, however sometimes when I try it earlier in the animation, I'll just end up dashing in the other direction.

Help please.

It Depends on what u want to pivot...You should lightly press the control stick to either f tilt or a normal A button but if u want to smash attack u jam it as hard as u like. U can also use C stick instead of using the A button which is what i do to smash attack.

u shouldnt practice pivoting in 1/4 time cause it will throw ur timing off...just keep practicing at normal speed and it will get easier over time

make sure your controller isn't messed up
some controllers are really hard to pivot with cuz their deadzone is off center

i never practiced stuff in training mode i think its better to just learn the real timing first

an easy way to do pivot fsmashes is to dash in one direction and hit both sticks back at the same time. for empty pivots and pivot jabs you need to be more true with the timing

pivot tilts are the hardest because you have to use a very strict rhythm and tap a while your stick crosses the center without smashing.

When I pivot, I press the opposite direction before I insert the command (ftilt, fsmash, upsmash, jump, etc.). When I pressed both at the same time I sometimes got a dash attack. If I consciously press the opposite direction first I'll get my pivot almost all the time.

(If you played/play street fighter, think Kara throws lol)

I think I got good at pivots when I picked up Falcon. I think Falcon requires the most tech skill in high level play(in a comparative sense I guess...?).
