Power metal is amazing for Smash. It just makes everything absolutely epic.
Rhapsody, Hammerfall, Dragonforce, Falconer, Angra, etc...

But other metal, or hard rock works just as well. At least make the matches have a hard impact.
Static X, Disturbed, Slipknot, Drowning Pool (old), Children of Bodom, etc...

I like just about any kind of music, but these are just what I prefer for Smash.

It depends, I can play Smash to anything, but JPop, and Techno seem to work the most. A little rock, some hip-hop (Not just plain rap...there IS a difference) and even a Japanese hip-hop/raggae. I don't down anyone for not liking a genre, but I give mad props to someone who is open-minded enough to at least try and listen to some stuff and give it a chance. I don't close my ear to much....there's even some Country music I like.

YES! Falconer is amazing! I think Blind Guardian and Iced Earth are better for Melee though. Or Demons & Wizards, which is made up for Blind Guardian's and Iced Earth's members.
