Pichu Stage: Sprout Tower
Sprout Tower
From Pokémon Gold and Silver

In Pokémon Gold and Silver, the site of the first gym challenge is Violet City, home of Falkner and his bird Pokémon. However, before taking him on, one must make it through Violet’s other landmark feature, the Sprout Tower. It is a Japanese-style structure with three floors of Monks that all use Bellsprouts. The most memorable feature players often remember of the Tower is its wobbling center pillar, thought to keep the structure from collapsing by providing constant shifting leverage. Rattatas are able to be encountered inside, but during the night, this becomes a rare chance for players to catch a Gastly. Sprout Tower was initially planned to be in Melee according to an old interview with Sakurai, but was cut for unknown reasons along with Akanea and Ice Top. With this being the ultimate Smash game, it would be awesome if this scrapped concept returned.

This a thin, vertical stage with a solid base at the bottom and five pass-through platforms in sequence at the top, making it somewhat a stretched-out version of Tomodachi Life. However, the placement of these platforms make it unique: the two larger ones on the edges of the roofs can be ledge grabbed, but the smaller ones cannot. The smaller platforms serve multiple purposes, from being assistants to characters with weak jumps making it higher up the tower to being a strategic control point, as the raised elevation makes opponents on the lower ones have to use different, higher-reaching attacks, but those on the bottom don’t have to fear of being struck from the bottom, creating a flip-flopping king of the hill-sequel situation. No conventional damaging hazards take place on the stage, but every once in awhile, one of the middle sliding doors will open, showing the pillar in the middle begin to sway to the left or right...

...and the entire state will tilt by about 20-25 degrees that direction! Suddenly, certain blast zones become closer or farther and terrain becomes slanted, changing up the flow of battle! After about 20-25 seconds, the central pillar moves back in position, stabilizing the stage to its regular layout. Matches on this stage are fairly standard but take a wild but manageable approach in no time!

The stage has a day-night cycle, going through a cycle every 3 minutes or so. This has no effect on when the Tower tilts. During the day, the left or right doors will occasionally open to reveal the inside, where Bellsprout might be dancing, Rattata might run around, and/or a monk may be watching. However, during the night, the Rattata are replaced with Gastly, which float on the inside and out, not harming any fighters. In the background lake waters below, Poliwag and Poliwhirl might swim around, and in the trees Pineco swing around on the undersides during the day and Hoothoot come and roost in the trees a night. In the distant background on rare occasions, Ho-oh and Lugia can be seen flying around at day and night respectively.

Pichu stage: Mappy

This is a new Pac-Man series stage. It is semi-retro-styled in that all the textures are 2D images ripped from the game, but the background has a epilepsy-friendly, dimmed-to-prevent-distraction police lights blur with the light reflecting onto the sprites and fighters. The roof of the house is present, but unlike in the game it is only in the background and can't cover players or be walked inside.

The black squares are hard platforms, the green squares are trampolines, the yellow squares are soft platforms, and the red squares are item spawn points - why this is important we'll get back to later. Doors are absent as a mechanic, but permanently-opened doors appear in random locations in the background when the match starts. Mewkies don't appear, but Goro does, which we'll also get back to.

Trampolines can be jumped on - they begin green and shift colours like Pac-Man's Up B before breaking, they'll respawn a bit after breaking. If a trampoline breaks upon jumping on it, you will be instantly KO'd with a semi-unique animation of your character spinning (knocked back pose spins, then lying unconcious pose in its regular positioning, explode) and the Mappy death sound - if they're KO'd on their final stock or as a match-ender, the last few notes of the Mappy game over theme will play. Said sounds are only for the trampoline

Items will always spawn in the exact same locations simultaniously - excluding containers and item spawning moves, there will usually only be 7 items on screen at a time, no more, no less. Every "wave" of items also brings along Goro - every time you pick up or use a naturally spawned item there's a 1 in 7 chance Goro will appear and grant you a major stat boost. Every item wave is gauranteed to have one Goro, no more, no less.

If items are off or only items that spawn in small quantities are on, the treasures from Mappy spawn instead, with no functionality beyond the Goro hunt.

Multi-part items are disabled on this stage, and the Smash Ball does not apply to this stage's item rules

Music:
Dig Dug Medley (New Remix)
Toy Pop (Technic Beat)
Pac-Land (New Remix)
Title (Ms. Pac-Man: Maze Madness)

Falco stage: FX Cruise

Based on the original Starwing and rendered in flickery Super FX glory, you fight upon 4 Arwings.

Red: soft platforms, black: hard platforms

The arwings tilt slightly and the top arwing likes to occasionally "do a barrel roll!", which sends fighters on that platform down to the bottom platform. The arwings will occasionally change formation either clockwise or counter-clockwise by exactly one. Occasionally either the left, right, or top Arwing will drift off-screen, but will return before the next formation shift. The bottom Arwing will always have a hard base. Hazards appear in the background, but are purley cosmetic - if they go to the foreground they will always hit the Arwings, which makes them red and shake but does not deal damage, however the Arwings will usually shoot them down.

Somewhat similarly to Minecraft World, the background is randomly chosen at the beginning of the match, being either Corneria, Fortuna Sea, Asteroid Belt Route 3, Venom 2, Venom Lightning, Titania Storm, Sector X, or Out of This Dimension - the backgrounds will then change at random times in random orders, split up by a wavy effect, a corridor, and the ships activating hyperspeed boosters

You can occasionally see Stunt Race FX cars race across the ground (1 out of 1000 chance) - but they don't serve as hazards and could easily evade view

The Star Fox Smash taunt can be activated, and is rendered with SNES graphics

The Omega and Battlefield forms are based on the gates you have to pass through in the original game as opposed to the arwings, but you can see them fly and fight in a non-circle formation in the background.

Slot Machine
Titania
Macbeth
Meteor (New Remix)

Falco echo: Peppy Hare

He's slower and heavier with a more anti-zoning moveset that allows him to get close to his foes. His blaster creates an explosion at a set point (think Zelda's side special but instant and unangleable) that propels foes back to him; his reflector - known as the Evaporator - destroys matter based projectiles and reflects energy projectiles, and also has a bigger hitbox; his Fire Hare move goes up then down, with both phases being angleable to fit through narrow gaps; and his Illusion makes him invulnerable - it's slower and has more endlag than a roll, but also goes a longer distance and can be - thanks to it's special move placement - performed more quickly. He doesn't have any of Falco's unique moves

Pichu echo: Rattata

Rattata doesn't take recoil damage, but has slower attacks. It doesn't have electric effects for the most part, but it does keep thunder as a down special. It's forward smash is a bite which has the classic teeth effect as a hitbox, it's dash attack is a more aggressive tackle, and it's neutral special is Ice Beam, which doesn't climb up or down walls but is otherwise identical to the Chu line's neutral specials. Rattata rarely ever stands on two legs, only doing so when blocking.

Slippy Toad
He's slower, but his clumsy nature would actually be worked into his moveset. He wouldn't be a joke character but there would definitely be elements of that which could be used to your advantage. His side b could be him slipping around and his up b would be a frog like bounce.

Orbital Gate Assault
It returns from Wii U and works the same
Tracks -
Venom (Star Fox Zero)
Titania (Star Fox Zero)
Asteroid Field (Star Fox Zero)
Corneria (Starlink: Battle for Atlas)

Edit: added a new Zelda song.
Pichu Echo: Plusle (and Minun)

I was originally gonna make these two a IC-style duo, but that's a bit much for an echo, so Minun can just take half of Plusle's alt slots.

Anyway, Plusle lacks Pichu's self-damage, but is a little slower and weaker. Only a few of the moves flatout change, all but one of the changes having Plusle adopt elements of Pichu's Melee moveset.
  • Plusle's forward tilt has it kick with both hind feet at once, creating a more consistent hitbox.
  • Plusle's down smash is a single hit as opposed to Pichu's multihit.
  • Plusle's neutral air has it perform somersaults as opposed to Pichu's cartwheel.
  • The properties of Plusle's Thunder Jolt and Skull Bash are a happy medium between those of Pichu and Pikachu.
  • Plusle's Final Smash has it call upon Minun (or vice versa if using a Minun alt) and perform an attack similar to Kat and Ana's Assist Trophy.
Katt Monroe over Falco

Katt Monroe is another member of Star Fox and is a friend of Falco

As an echo she would be very similar to falco only a bit faster.

Mimikyu over Pichu

Mimikyu would not take any recoil damage,
The electric attacks would be replaced with Dark Energy
final smash is now "Let's Snuggle Forever" in which Mimikyu does a Final Smash version of their Pokeball move.
Pichu Stage - Agate Village

Always nice to see the Shadow Pokemon games get some love. And Agate village fits the Pichu line more than one might expect. You know, Eagun being a Pikachu trainer and all.

In any case, there's really only one gimmick to this stage. And it's a gimmick familiar to any fan of Gerudo Valley. The bridge will sometimes break away, giving access to the water and small patches of land below it. But it will eventually be restored thanks to Celebi time shenanigans.

NPCs of the side of good from the Orre games cameo in the background, and the layout is what's highlighted in the red box below with edges at the side to serve as bottomless pits.

And that's Agate Village as a Smash Stage.

Slightly heavier than Falco and harder to KO as a result. But a little weaker to compensate. His laser blast, afterimages from the Side B, fire from the Up B, and Reflector are all colored Green.

A semi-stance change move. Allows Fox to swap his Reflector for a Shine - the Shine is purple, it can't reflect or be held indefinetly, but it starts and cancels instantly (both frame 1) and can be jumped out of after frame 4. Despite the source material, it's not more powerful than Reflector

Pichu Back Special: Volt Switch

Meant to be the opposite of Pikachu's new Iron Tail, Pichu rushes backwards, damaging opponents in his path and gaining super armor. The move also has pretty lenient endlag, allowing Pichu to follow up off it. However, it also deals the most recoil out of all of Pichu's special moves and has a slight cooldown (indicated by electricity sparking around Pichu for a brief time), to be sure to use it wisely.

I did not intend to use Zelda Music for those. I forgot to change that in the document. I’ll fix that up.

Bit of a shame about the Star Fox Spirits but oh well. You might want to go back and remove my Harriet spirit for peach if this is a rule. That uses a song that’s not in the game too.

Wario Wario Wario Wario Wario Wario I fixed the Pichu Spirit Songs.

Pichu Back Special - Thunder Punch

A punch with an electric effect. Think of the punch itself as being a slightly more powerful, lightning based version of Jigglypuff’s Pound. But this move doesn’t propel Pichu forward.

Pichu Pokeball Function - Thunder Wave

Pichu moves around and releases ripples of electricity when near an opponent. This can paralyze fighters with the paralysis lasting longer when a fighter is at higher percent damage. Thunder Wave itself however does not deal any damage.

Falco Back Special - Barrier Sphere

Inspired by the tool from Star Fox Assault, Falco places a barrier on the ground that stays in place. Falco can freely walk in and out of it but it acts like Falco's shield to any other fighter. Meaning it blocks attacks and makes opponents have to work to move past it in the same way Falco's regular shield does.

If my submission of Leon ends up becoming Falco's Echo, his version will not be a shield. It will be a field of energy that releases short range energy shots. If an opponent enters the field, they will be locked on to and the field can release lock-on shots that travel farther in an attempt to hunt them down. This is inspired by how Leon's ship fires its lasers in Star Fox Command.

Falco Assist Function - Homing Launcher

A weapon from Star Fox Assault. Falco stays in place an shoots a homing missile every once in a while.

Uses NES graphics. This was gonna be an overworld stage, but since we just added a non-specific Hyrule stage I'll go with a dungeon instead

Blue is a ladder, yellow is a block that appears and disappears, and red is - as usual - soft platforms. up to 2 Stalfos will appear outside of the box at once and throw swords at you - inside the box is a safe respite, at the expense of having very little space to walk. Whenever a Stalfos is KOd, a healing fairy will spawn inside the box.

  1. Dungeon (The Legend of Zelda)
  2. Overworld (Zelda 2: The Adventure of Link)
  3. Deku Temple (FPTRR) (New Remix)
  4. A Link to the Past Japanese Advert theme

Marth echo 1: Trojan Swordsman

Representing Sega's Total War series, the Trojan Swordsman would give Smash that gritty western energy it's been missing for a long while. He doesn't have a tipper. His down special isn't a counter, but instead a projectile reflector with his shield. His sword is shorter, but he's also more powerful.

Marth echo 2: Farfetch'd

Imagine Marth but Pikachu-sized with Jigglypuff air jumps/mobility. Sorry in advance about the nightmares. Has tipper, leek is shorter than Marth's sword but longer proporitiontely.

Young Link echo: Minecraft Link

Much less mobile, and he has very poor range compared to the other Links in both sword and projectiles, but he's more powerful as a whole and very heavy. The bomb and boomerang both use original spritework. He's stiff like Steve, but his animations have a little more personality and exaggeration than Steve.

Marth stage: Serafew Village

Aww hell naw they turnt britain into a smash stage. In all seriousness, yeah, the only reason I'm submitting this stage is because it reminds me of places I've been to in real life.

Green - a bush that covers up the battle
Blue - swimmable water.

A very simple stage best used for roleplay.

  1. Distant Utopia (New Remix)
  2. Reunion
  3. Monastery
  4. Shh... Easy now, girl. I won't hurt you
Lucina stage: Marble Zone

Black - hard platform
Red - lava, works as lava usually does in Smash, however if you ricochet into it too many times in a row you will drown in it.
Yellow - Spiky chandeliers. Hard platforms that move up extremely slow without their spikes, then grow spikes on the sides and bottom, slam down quickly, then retract and move up again slowly. When they appear, the block disappears
Blue - Block that moves back to forth. When it appears, the chandeliers disappear

Occasionally, a geyser of varying size will come out of the lava, with chandeliers and block giving you a little extra space if it's in the middle, or giving you the chance to throw your foes into it if it's on one of the sides. The lava will never cover up the entire hard platform.
  1. Marble Zone (New Remix)
  2. Labyrinth Zone (New Remix)
  3. Lava Reef Zone (New Remix)
  4. Work it Out

Gonna try and get a lot of Sonic stages in this thread.

Marth Echo: Wither Skeleton

  • While lighter and slower than Marth, the Wither Skeleton's tipper can deal a temporary poison effect.
  • Their jab resembles the standard Minecraft sword animation.
  • Their Side Special becomes a bow shot similar to Link's, so the regular Skeleton could be an alt costume if we wanted it.
  • Their Final Smash uses a Hoglin, giving it a bigger hitbox.

Young Link Echo: Shovel Knight

This used to be a Classic Link sub, but I think that now's a great time to get an indie fighter on the roster! For shovelry!
  • Shovel Knight's forward tilt resembles his swipe animation from his game.
  • Shovel Knight's down tilt resembles his digging animation from his game.
  • Shovel Knight's dash attack has him pull out the Dust Knuckles to throw a strong punch while sliding forward.
  • Shovel Knight uses a fishing rod in leiu of the Hookshot.
  • Shovel Knight's Neutral Special is the Flare Wand, which shoots out fireballs similarly to Sora's Firaga. It does have a limit of how many fireballs can be shot out in one go, though.
  • Shovel Knight's Side Special uses the Buzzsaw Boomerang, but is otherwise just like Young Link's boomerang.
  • Shovel Knight's Up Special is the Propeller Dagger, which works like SpongeBob's Up Special in NASB.
  • Shovel Knight's Down Special is the Chaos Sphere, which bounces randomly for a short time before exploding like Banjo's Down B, going forward instead of back.
  • Shovel Knight's Final Smash is the War Horn, an AOE attack which deals major damage.
  • Shovel Knight uses the Phase Locket for his dodges. This is just an aesthetical change, though.
I have some ideas for stages, but I'll have to wait until class is over to get music for 'em.

Young Link Stage: Clock Town
AC587B90-2774-40B3-B100-74DE4CE07445.jpeg

This stage would primarily take place on the clock tower located in South Clock Town. Players would be fighting on the giant Terminian Clock on the tower, with platforms on the hour and minute clocks and on both sides of the clock. The clocks would rotate, which also affects the time and day of Clock Town, which is a 3-day cycle in-universe.
  • On the first day is a sunny sky
  • On the second day is a raining day
  • On the third and final day, the Moon will slowly close in on Clock Town. Right before it crashes, the Song of Time plays in the background, and the 3-day cycle resets. Don’t worry, this won’t interfere with the match.

Please include your 4 songs for the stage. Great submission either way!

Lucina Stage: Bean Island (Advance Wars)

Rendered in GBA graphics, the main platform is the eponymous island, with a large center soft platform and slanted edges leading into bodies of water which extend to the blast zone. Every so often, tanks will pull up to the sides or planes will fly in from the top. These serve as soft platforms as well.
Marth Stage: The Nether
Resubmitted from the Expand a Franchise thread. Doesn't make as much sense if the Wither Skeleton doesn't win, but Minecraft content is Minecraft content.
Stage: The Nether

The stage takes place on a large Nether Fortress, providing a good analogue to Hyrule Temple. However, background Ghasts will occasionally fire into the foreground, temporarily destroying some bridges like on Bridge of Eldin.
Young Link Stage: Hall of Springs (Shovel Knight Showdown)

Pretty simple port from the original game - The hovering platforms act like standard soft platforms, but give you a spring if you jump off them, just like the platforms from Spring Stadium. In addition, the stage loops around, making the most reliable kill methods either the top blast zone or the lava (which deals insta-KOs over 100%).

We already added Andy's theme as a song - specifically for Funky Kong's replacement master spirit

Travis Touchdown over Marth

Travis would not have a tipper and would also be a slight bit slower

Travis would also have much better and more powerful grabs than Marth.

Final smash is called Dark Side Mode and starts by having Travis run his Motorcycle into opponents before going into a Cutscene final smash where he goes into full armor mode and attacks opponents. and using various other dark side modes like Blueberry Cheese Brownie and Strawberry on the Shortcake finishing it off by turning into a tiger and attack whoever else is left. This KOs opponents over 100% and if you win the match with it, it emulates the NMH boss win screen.

Raiden over Marth

A faster and more combo focused marth.

Final smash just has raiden using a facsimile of blade mode

Riku & Manana over Young Link

This would be if Young Link was a duo. Manana would perform certain moves while Riku would perform others. One cannot function without the other so the duo aspect is mostly cosmetic.

Riku wouldn't use just his gun but also the sword from the Yumsmith class.
Neutral Special is Riku firing his gun, it has very similar frame datat to Fire Arrows but does not arc down
Side Special is Manana throwing her shield
Down Special is now Energy Grenade where Manana shoots out an exploding projectile that leaves damaging fire on the ground
Up special is manana spinning around while holding Riku
Final Smash is now "Noogie Storm" Riku fires a few blasts from his gun while manana hits opponents with her shield.

Young Link Assist: Song of Time
When summoned, Young Link plays the Song of Time, rewinding all fighter's percentages/statuses and the stage back to the way it was about a minute ago.

Marth Special: Backflip
Marth does a stylish backflip backwards, being able to dodge enemy attacks. He can also cancel the backflip into his midair jump or aerials.

Lucina Special: Thögn
Lucina shoots a bow and arrow, much like Link's Neutral Special.

Young Link Special: Song of Healing
Young Link begins playing the Song of Healing, slowly healing his percentage. However, the move has a considerably long start and end animation, leaving Young Link open for punishment if abused.
