- I mean, just look at them and tell me they don't have similarities

Other than that, there's nothing really known about him. He was in AX (the arcade version of GX) and in the home consoles of GX as well via some obtuse unlocking requirements.

Phoenix's name also invokes his backstory, doesn't it? Wasn't he the only survivor of some huge racing crash?

I'd approve of him as a Captain Falcon echo even if only as an excuse to get his F-Zero GX theme in the game

(It's seriously a crime that none of the vocal tracks of F-Zero GX has ever gotten in Smash. If it's some weird licensing issue with Sega since they were involved with the game or something, they've been involved since Brawl. So what the heck :V)

Pretty sure the only one major crash is the F- zero lore doesn’t have Phoenix in it. In the crash, mighty gazelle got so damaged he had to get a cyborg body, Captain Falcon got messed up bad but was able to recover thanks to Dr. Stewart, and due to Falcon’s hospitalization someone was able to acquire Falcon’s DNA to create his clone, Blood Falcon.

Jokes aside, I agree, Ken wouldn’t be really that substantial to neither the casuals or the hardcore speculators (especially this place), since he’s probably an echo, and we’ve discussed him for so long.

If anything, it’s usually a newcomer that gets people talking for days, even a couple of weeks if either no one leaked you, or you were a charcater that destroyed a leak. And I say usually, unless your Isabelle.

Does anyone remember that it’s been two weeks since she was revealed? I swear I thought it’s been a month, but nope! Right after Isabelle revealed we went to talking about boxes.

You say this but some of us thought this could happen!

Especially after Zelda (who wasn't confirmed in the initial E3 presentation but was in the trailer prominently) was confirmed as a playable character. It's actually a big reason demand for Wolf and Ridley post-Melee were so large. Lots of "leaks" having Wolf and Ridley playable only further established their popularity. Leaks real and fake both directly effect character popularity. Usually for the good, but sometimes for the bad (see: Chrom being "inevitable" in Smash 4... though it turned around quite a lot for Ultimate).

What happened in Brawl (or even before) times? Something to remark? I'm curious.

I was only a bit apart of pre-Melee speculation. It was pretty linear in what characters people wanted with some oddities of course per personal preference. The most wanted characters were basically anything Zelda related, Bowser, Peach and Mewtwo. After that most people just wanted Dedede, Wario, Diddy or Banjo of the characters that didn't get in Melee. There were odd requests, but it's not as crazy as it is now. But generally those characters were dominant.

As time moved on, wants changed. New characters emerged. The biggest change happened because of the EGM Sonic and Tails "leak" for April Fool's Day. Oh man, that was nutty. After that, so many people SCREAMEEEEDDDD for Sonic. The Sonic demand got even louder after Snake was confirmed in Brawl.

And around that time, the demand for Cloud was insane before most of the community reached a consensus "Cloud would never happen" (which is why it was such a shocking Smash 4 DLC reveal and a big reason it was about as big of a deal to see Cloud in Smash as it was Sonic). I would say for a while in Brawl speculation the demand for Cloud wasn't too far off for the demand for Sonic. But again, it was a short period of time.

I actually think if we got a Cloud leak of some sort like the EGM leak after Brawl came out or some early Smash 4 leak that seemed credible with Cloud in it, the Cloud hype and anticipation for Smash 4 would have rivaled the Sonic hype for Brawl.

This, along with the wide spread assertion that nobody wanted Isabelle. You don't show up in Monster Hunter and Mario Kart as a playable character if you don't have a massive following. People talk about the "bubble" of the Smash Community and people can be deaf to what's outside it and this is the leading example. Did people forget about the Mii costumes too? How Inkling was regularly breaking Top 10 in polls regarding the Smash Ballot? Isabelle regularly making Top 5 favorite Nintendo character in Japanese magazine polls since her creation? All the merch? I feel like you'd have to be in total denial to outright ignore these.

Merch is a big reason not to dismiss Skull Kid. The Majora's Mask is a merch moneymaker, which is a key reason I don't discount the Skull Kid leaks and rumors.

Yes but I imagine the roster will be revealed by or around November the 20th. I think they want to reveal everything a few days before Thanksgiving/Black Friday at last and do a final blowout. That way, no leaks can happen, (sans things like Trophies, maybe a never before confirmed Assist Trophy characters, maybe full details on game modes, Spirits stuff, etc).

Which TBH is wise. It avoids people getting the game a week early and leaking it.

After I shared the NZach “leak” post on the Smashboards leak thread, a total group of 13 people group DMed me on Twitter to warn me about Zach’s history with click baiting and sharing “information”. I did not expect the Zach thing to be that serious of an issue. I am skeptical of Zach right now because of his mix-ups with speculations and sharing leaked information, but I got a good laugh out of the sudden DM raid. The people who talked to me were chill people. Today ended on a good note for me.

I know the wait for this Smash has been shorter than any other, but I feel like with the other ones it was easy to put the game out of my mind entirely for long periods of time. For this one I'm counting down the days and it makes the wait seem like it's never going to end. Was the Isabelle reveal really only 2 weeks ago? It feels like it's been a year since we got any new info...

Huh. So that dude's prediction of Isabelle and new animal crossing in sept 16 direct was just lucky coincidence? I don't know what to believe. What's next, Verge revealed to have some very incorrect information? /s

But serious, regarding the history of clickbait and false information this dude has, it wouldn't be wise to watch him. he could be feeding everyone with false informations AND restate the Vergeben's leak in his own tweet to make anyone believe that he was legit leaker. Worst thing is that he decided that it was good idea to use this leak season to gain more attentions and fame. What can we do? Just ignore him for rest of the leak season until season ends.
