She’s low enough to the ground that she might as well be touching it, King Boo normally floats higher than she does and I’m concerned it could look awkward with him floating that low to the ground especially with his shape.

I love it! It's one of my top three movies of all time, easily. The sequel's great too.

Don't even get me started on Toothless, he's basically my childhood embodied in a character!

None have dropped it as hard as the Yoshi series, no Yoshi games had any praise or success between Yoshi's Story to Wholly World.

Luigi's Mansion's still doing pretty fine

Yes it is..though a lot of fans didn't like that Luigi's Mansion: Dark Moon was Mission Based rather then Child Friendly Resident Evil (or at least that's how I referred to it).

On the other hand we didn't get Wario, Diddy Kong, Dedede, or MK, all characters that people argue should have been in Smash way earlier, until 3 games in.

Donkey Kong seems to be getting on quite well.
Luigi's Mansion has 3 games now, which isn't bad for a game that started out as a cult classic.
WarioWare has been up and down, but it's still pretty well regarded, and Wario Land put out some absolute classics before it's indefinite hiatus.

Yeah, this is true, though Wario did become a bigger name after Melee released, before that he was just on the GameBoy and Mario Spin-Offs..even if I would have loved him in Melee since he'd have been more Wario Land-based then WarioWare-based.
Diddy Kong might not have been included due to the situation with Rare at the time..notice that Diddy Kong didn't get a trophy while Dixie Kong and King K. Rool did..this always made me think that Diddy was meant to be a character at some point and they forgot to make him a Trophy after they decided not to..granted, that's just a personal theory with no evidence, I just always thought it was odd Diddy didn't get a trophy when Dixie did.
Dedede & MetaKnight may have been from Sakurai not wanting to show his own series too much love for worry of appearing biased, I heard something like that before, but I have no idea. Seems likely enough as a possibility though.
But yes, they all should have been in earlier.

Is Wario Land even necessary nowadays?
Nintendo has so many 2D platformer series (Super Mario Bros., Donkey Kong Country, Kirby, Yoshi's Island, etc.), that I feel like Wario Ware made a lot more sense to pursue than Wario Land...

Yes it is. Wario Land is a very different kind of beast then any of those series with its own flair and style. I'd much rather have a new Wario Land or Wario World game then a new Yoshi game, personally. I'd love to see Retro try their hand at Wario, honestly.
WarioWare is great, but Wario Land (Wario Land II particularly) is where Wario became one of my favorite Mario Franchise characters.
