Imagine this

It's the TGS and SEGA takes the stage. They announce that they have a few announcements to make, and it starts with a trailer.

It's a Japanese city, and an Italian mafioso lookin' dude is talking to a man in a white suit, telling him about some sort of illegal trade. Things start to get heated and the man in the white suit is revealed to be Kazuma Kiryu! It's a new Yakuza game!

The Italian mafioso stands up and cracks his knuckles and Kazuma Kiryu runs into a drop kick, which seamlessly transitions Smash Ultimate, him dropkicking Mario or Luigi.

KAZUMA KIRYU BRINGS THE HEAT

I'd like to see that. Too bad it won't happen though.

No, The movie looks fine, it's just that some of the Pokemon look a bit off for me. Especially Jigglypuff... Pikachu looks great though...

All I was saying how when I logged onto here first thing in the morning, I saw 50 brand new pages and I got an adrenaline rush thinking something big happened.

Only to realize that this thread went into a huge tangent into joking about Grandblue and Katalina stuff.

That adrenaline went straight down into the drain, so I got into a pissy state... sorry I made it sound extremely rude, I was being extremely sarcastic and showing how mad I am when something like this happens only to find out that we were off topic.

I'm starting to warm up to the Detective Pikachu movie. I still really don't like most of those CG abominations Pokemon, but at least Pikachu himself is starting to grow in me. I'll admit that Mr.Mime scene did get an actual grin out of me, so the comedy writing at least seems good enough.

Going to bring up the context behind the hate. The reason most people hate illumination is that its image is not healthy for the industry. Their movies are safe (never taking risks) and average. They are also relative cheap to make. They are also making it in the business incredibly well with box office records. If they stay like this, it could end up changnig the industry since why should the competition try hard when its easy to make lots of money without having to make amazing cinematic classics?

This point I can agree with. Illumination films could be a lot better. However, concerns with the industry as a whole aside, I still don't think and average movie equates to being a bad one. All people ever talk about when worrying about the Mario movies seems to be "but what if Minions appear in it", which I don't think it's a valid concern. People seem to be more worried about the reputation of Minions then with Illumination's quality as a whole.

The real reason I'm not worried about Mario is that there's not a whole lot to screw up. Mario stories, for mainline games at least, are as barebones as they come. It's not like, say, The Lorax where they can screw up the original story's darker tones. If they make a generic, lighthearted slapstick story like they do with everything else it'll still be true to Mario.

I admittedly don't like Illumination that much either, but I don't think they're an exceptionally bad choice for a Mario movie. Now if we were talking Zelda or Metroid or something, then I'd be concerned.

Ive had friends who told me it was good but I only really played the first three Dragon Quests thus far... I can tell you the first one is Grinding: The Video Game, is that any useful information to you?

At, least, I hope Nintendo tries to keep it as quality content. They usually are very careful when they let others handle their IPs. And I am fine with not everything being a cinematic classic.
