I thought they said no echo fighters for DLC?

They only said there won't be any echoes in the Season Pass. I could maybe see a pack of 5 echoes and maybe a song each releasing for the price of a single unique character (5.99).

I dont know if i should bring this up its a mood killer and probably against the rules but remember how i said REEEEEEEEra cares more about far left politics pushing? Well a friend of mine told me theres now a movement to boycott Smash Ultimate not because the box theory was correct or because piranha plant is a free dlc like we have some people (not alot) here doing. Its cuz not enough token blacks to meet the quota of approval..

I don't think it'll happen, at least not as a playable character. I think people are reading too much into it.

With Meta Knight, it's only adding a scar on the mask, while Captain Falcon, only got the Hell Hawk on the back. Adding in other stuff would have been more work that most wouldn't even notice. Not that it wouldn't have been nice though.

That’s what I meant by correlation. Her market doesn’t seem to mesh with Nintendo’s at the time, even now.

i dont understand how people are writing elma off when sakurai confirmed the timeline for decisions about the roster and dlc to be made in 2015.
xenoblade x came out in 2015. meaning he had plenty of time to play it, decide on a moveset and develop her. her priority would be shifted down because of them choosing to bring everyone back and she'd easily be behind the big time newcomers like Ridley and Isabelle and inkling.

One of the arguments WAY backon this forum was the timeline issue for rex to get in. and thats been confirmed now. also hate to break it to some people but elma moveset would be easily distinguishable from shulk's. rex im not as sure. the dlc i don't expect to be even close to any existing character in smash.

We don’t know when DLC was chosen, and it’s most likely that some of them were decided later on.

But a lot of people think Elma is likely now. She could’ve been one of the characters that had to be moved up to DLC, and with Rex/Pyra out of the table, seeing the noticeable lack of X content and how Elma was played up in her update for Xenoblade 2, there’s a lot that seems to be in her favor.

If youre a fan of South Park (I'm not but i really like its creators) you may remember that the creators of the show Matt Stone and Trey Parker once said that the Republicans didnt want the show banned, just moved to a midnight timeslot, which is what they wanted anyway.. He did say the season pass would last until 2020, presumably meaning that the characters in said pass would end up being sold separately afterwards.

It's a tossup at this time, so we'll see what happens.

I have to disagree. We all know Goku need not travel into the Smash territory. But even though western fans may think mobile games are inferior types of games, they're very popular in Japan, and Smash obviously originates in Japan. I'm sure a lot of the Japanese fans wouldn't mind mobile game characters being in Smash. Obviously, they couldn't be in the older games since mobile games of this nature didn't exist in the early 2000s. Plus, Spirits mode performs similarly to a mobile game, so we kind of already have something from mobile games in Smash.

It is huge in Japan, but from what I understand, people were saying that not many people voted for Isabelle. But of course, the more casual fanbase probably really wanted her, which is probably part of the reason why she got in as a unique fighter (along with many other reasons)

Because they're not a priority, they're basically here to spice up the newcomer roster a bit, a fair share of them were likely late additions aswell. Just think of them as bonuses.

It's not that they are easy to make, it's that they take several times less to dev time to develop than uniques.

People would probably rather them spend the time developing these 5 DLC well and leave the chance open for possibly more unique DLC, instead if spending the time doing Echoes.

It would shock me if they were considered for dlc. Doomguy, maybe, but not Dovahkiin. Todd Howard would probably asked Sakurai about the possibilities and Sakurai would probably laugh at the thought

They're not going to create a lot of barely-differing fighters just because they can make more money, it's kinda unethical.

Also echos still need negotiation with creators, their own animations, (if they have any) voicelines, and Classic Modes. Development cycle was already really tight and we have a respectable number of them.

Making them DLC is an issue on its own, so I can get why they didn't do it.
