Perhaps Sakurai thinks having Xenoblade Chronicles 1 and 2 in Smash are good enough to cover the Xenoblade series

With Meta Knight, it's only adding a scar on the mask, while Captain Falcon, only got the Hell Hawk on the back. Adding in other stuff would have been more work that most wouldn't even notice. Not that it wouldn't have been nice though.

I've accepted that Katalina may be 1 of our 5, especially since Gacha is so big in Japan, whatever it's fine.

What I don't accept is Minecraft! Not that I hate Minecraft at all, but I want Banjo so Minecraft having a slot is fighting words lol.

I'm really hoping the SE is good and hype, and justifies what the remaining characters might be.

I will always continue supporting Bomberman, Vaati, and Krystal.

I'll support Krystal for the next game, but not this one. With only five spots left, and three of them hinted to be Sora, Steve, and Katalina, I don't think Bomberman, Vaait, and Krystal have much of a chance for this game. Especially since assist trophies have no chance to be promoted to playable characters in this game. Maybe in the next though

Eh, I care more about how Vaati would fight than what series he's from. It's not entirely inconceivable that another air/wind-specialist character, like, say, Klonoa, could steal his thunder.

Grandblue and Katalina are a stretch when it comes to Smash. Not only is Katalina and her popularity predominantly from Japan, but she has an extremely small connection to anything related with Nintendo, that small connection being that Nintendo and Cygames recently made Dragalia Lost and Nintendo owns 5% of them now.

This potentially also bleeds into her fan base. Her potential fan base mostly stems from the mobile market which Nintendo didn’t even dip into until last year, so there isn’t a lot of correlation between the two. She is also younger than Bayonetta when it comes to third parties as well, since she only popped up in 2014 and would’ve been around for only 2-3 years in 2016-2017 when the DLC roster was decided. Definitely not a lot to go with for a third party.

All of these are obstacles in Katalina’s way, and they’re pretty major when it comes to character inclusions. I do like Katalina from what I’ve seen of her and she looks awesome, but sadly, I’m skeptical of her. If what Hitagi said is true, I’m more inclined to believe that it’s for a potential Season 2, as there Grandblue is starting to open a bit to the western and console gaming market recently. But nonetheless, I definitely would want to know Sakurai’s thought process for why he chose her if she indeed gets in.

Fair enough. I could see her being the final DLC though, and I don't think we will get a second DLC season. It's too good to be true. DLC will last until February 2020 like Sakurai said, and that's probably about all we'll get, so I could see her being the final one. But who knows?

i dont understand how people are writing elma off when sakurai confirmed the timeline for decisions about the roster and dlc to be made in 2015.
xenoblade x came out in 2015. meaning he had plenty of time to play it, decide on a moveset and develop her. her priority would be shifted down because of them choosing to bring everyone back and she'd easily be behind the big time newcomers like Ridley and Isabelle and inkling.

One of the arguments WAY backon this forum was the timeline issue for rex to get in. and thats been confirmed now. also hate to break it to some people but elma moveset would be easily distinguishable from shulk's. rex im not as sure. the dlc i don't expect to be even close to any existing character in smash.

There is nothing I want more than that...

I am curious about it though. We didn't see any Beth IPs in the Spirits trailer, so it may well be DLC. I'm wishing on every star I can that Skyrim's got it...or that there's a DLC seacon 2.
