For all we know, Spirits could be something like that. I heard another "leak" say that it was going to be a huge crossover mode with content from all kinds of franchises, so who knows what the exact gameplay will entail.

Hanafuda? I keep bringing this up every time I mention cards, but eh.
I could see it where the opponent who has the sprout mirrors all of the attacks that the owner inputs for a brief amount of time. That could also explain the bubble effect as it could change color depending on who the owner is (red for 1P, Blue for 2P, etc.). Yeah you could say that it might be broken, but how is that any more broken than the instant KO items like Kapp'n?
It would be neat, but you know what would be better?

If it was the website thing, I wouldn't call that trademarked. For all we know it could be an archive (and it had a bunch or Rare IP as well, including Perfect Dark, etc.)
Can't answer the former, but for the latter, spells are often represented as a symbol within a bubble. It's very common in video games.
They're not gonna remove it.
A card game mode sounds like it would be fun. Maybe the trophies could represent the cards in such a case, and be assigned specific ranks and the like, kind of like the Magic the Gathering/Pokémon/Yu-Gi-Oh TCGs. Personally, I wouldn't mind something like the Triple Triad Card game from Final Fantasy VIII & XIV, I really like how that works.
Doubt that's going to happen. Doing that would only confirm it. They're going to leave it up and just hope it blows over. But the gale force winds of the Grinch are sweeping through boys and girls!!!

I know people hate gacha games, but I’d actually be down for something like this that makes use of all the trophies that you collect.

So notice how long greninjas tongue is, look right below snakes chin where the launcher trigger is, you can still see it. In the grinch leak the "faker" would have also known this and made it that long (because in the leak his tongue is very long).
As Kapp'n is easily avoidable, no?

It could be an intentional redesign for smash in order to help players differentiate it from Villager's tree chopping attack plant sprout.
Well I'm guessing p much everyone here is a nerd to some degree and thus has a thirst for detail like this

Greninjas tongue isn't the only thing at all added too! Jiggly, Roy and countless others have new portions of their body revealed. On top of this, every character has been moved ever closer from sides, layered on each other accurately and professionally, and shifted logically to where there characters would save space. Literally hundreds to thousands of shifts and changes if you look close enough.

not really, the chances of a gen 8 pokemon being DLC just went through the freaking roof though
