I just want the characters featured in the wishlist in my signature. Anyone else is fine so long as they meet Sakurai’s criteria and are well-designed. “Deserving” and “slots” are words I am sick of.

I simply want characters, to have fun with them, do nice match-ups and provide once-in-a-lifetime opportunities to get in before they vanish eventually. Whether they get in because of popularity or other reasons is simply a bonus.

Which is why I want my boy Earthworm Jim in there! I don't care if it'll take a decade for it to happen.

One possibly hype thing spreading in Japan is that they may demonstrate non-demo build in Nintendo Live 2018.

He claimed that he feels it confirms Vergeben's statement about a character from "that company," so it must be SE if he isn't pulling our leg.

It IS eerily like LoZ. He gives a bit of info, people mull over it and generally decide to wait, and suddenly right when discussion starts to slow down he comes in with new info to reignite it, juuuuust enough to restart the discussion but not enough to outright give any answers.

I'm willing to keep Tansut's words in mind due to how it seems we're definitely getting an SE rep, from Vergeben's information and that guy who worked for Square Enix getting blasted off the internet after commenting on a leak.

Tansut saying he doesn't like to out-right leak characters seems to make sense with how he leaked Cloud using Star Wars riddles, so I dunno.

I first saw it from Nekoo, I think, a long while back on this thread. The guy from SE commented on a leak that mentioned Sora and Geno, plus Mallow as an assist trophy, and he said it was fake as it has characters he knows aren't in. He then disappeared from the internet, probably his accounts gone, so it's possible we may get either Sora or Geno.

There was a photo of the comment, too. It was on ResetEra, but I don't remember which page of this thread it was on...

I guess the reason why it doesn't feel like big info to me is because they don't even know what leak it is or who the character is and where they come from.

To me, nothing's changed. We don't know if anything leaked, and we don't know who's left. There really isn't anything to speculate over as well because the kind of leaks he's talking about can all be faked thanks to how skilled people are with the millions of art programs out there nowadays. Heck, Ken could even end up false, as slim as the odds are.

Fair enough, I remembered the post wrong then.

But directly bringing up BOTH Vergeben and "a company that isn't Nintendo" makes it very obvious what he's implying. Don't know why he'd mention both of those things if his intention is to not give away his source.

If he's legit, all we know is that it's a third party company and it's not Capcom (because he said that it wasn't the Ken leak despite not knowing the character).

Apparently in the past he leaked Cloud so it's likely to be a Square Enix character, and there's an image leak around (most likely Sassy Geno).

That's only if he's legit. It can still be all fake.

And personally, I'd prefer Banjo & Kazooie over Geno because they're about the same in terms of popularity/longevity, while also being the faces of their own self-titled franchise as well as being Nintendo icons back in the N64 era. But I also try to recognize my bias and Geno has a lot more going for him than I originally thought. I agree with many of your reasons, though.

Agreed. If we're comparing both BK and Geno I think Geno has the edge overall due to seemingly being more visible and "on the radar" so to speak when it comes to Smash. But then things can change at the drop of the hat with that Madman in charge!

No question that BK was big back in the day, these were shared in the BK thread, retailed N64 bundles released in Europe and Australia which say a lot, in particular the Spotlight bundle:

Now it may not mean as much 20 years later but it shows how highly considered bear and bird were in the late 90s and early 00s.

Would love for Nintendo to make more of these special edition consoles/bundles in the future for modern bundles.

I guess, lol. I just don't get hyped over rumors like this, as they're incredibly vague and most likely end up being nothing.

To me, what's the point in knowing there's a real leak if the person can't point out which one it is? We have no way of proving it ourselves, so it all kinda ends up being a moot point in the end. In the end, we're still waiting for it to be confirmed anyway, as there's nothing to prove any of the leaks, and in the case of the Geno one, nothing to disprove it.

To each their own, though. I'm not trying to ruin anyone's fun, I'm just sharing an opinion.
