Pretty sure they learned their lesson after Ryu and Roy. All DLC characters after that were just listed as "Mario" in the files.

That honestly depends on how far ahead DLC is planned this time around. If they're reckless enough to put them in already, then yeah it's definitely possible.
Be careful. Wasn't Wolf considered a guarantee in Smash 4 because we had three vets and Star Fox Zero was getting released soon?
Maybe with Spring Man, Octoling and Geno but considering how much Sakurai loves Xenoblade Chronicles 2 I don't see him passing out on Rex.
A bit unrelated but I gonna vent a bit here.
In the meantime us beginner programmers, like myself, spend half an hour figuring out why we have a compile error until we realize we're just missing a semicolon.
With how game development works, I would be floored if they're not already beginning work on it. Especially with how long Sakurai has stated making and balancing a unique fighter takes, it would not surprise me at all if planning stages for DLC are already going underway or already have been settled on.
Obviously, no one's a lock on any level.

And as I've mentioned, I find it hard to believe Microsoft/Rare would go back to the N64 design for their anniversary merch this year--more like a Sakurai decision to go with their Nintendo designs. We'll have to wait and see.

I would have to pick X if I only had one choice. Mega Man X remains as one of my favorite platformers to this day, and I had just as much fun replaying it through the MMX Legacy Collection as I did years ago. That bangin' Central Highway remix from the 8.8 Direct really brought out the nostalgia for me, and it would be amazing to have a Central Highway stage in Smash.
Me getting in as a Yoshi rep is more likely than any other potential Yoshi rep I feel...

Fire Emblem always causes backlash, and Sakurai doesn't care--even explaining his decisions on FE being strategic. I'd say Edelgard (?) is in the high 90% in terms of possibility.
