My expectations are "low" for Spirits; it's gonna be like Melee's Adventure mode.

I put low on quotation marks because having that would still be really freaking awesome to play.

I mean, the Pokémon in Smash have been more inspired by the anime than the games since the beginning, so anyone thinking that Ash-Greninja is groundbreaking is just nuts.

Ash-Greninja being in just tempts me to write tons of fanfics where everyone in the current roster joins him at the middle of the League to beat the living **** out of Alain's Charizard together and give Ash the victory he deserved the most. Oh, I can already savour it.

Okay, being serious and a little optimistic for a moment, I'd like to repeat a point I made a while ago in the thread in that I don't get why people think assist trophies kill a character's chances for DLC.
There is a very, very easy solution to the AT problem that I'm sure Sakurai has probably thought of: Just have the AT version of the character have a different color palette when they are summoned while the playable character is in the fight. Simple.

Yeah, even if it were just Melee's Adventure Mode, that would still be pretty hype for me.

Heck, I wouldn't even mind seeing it be Smash Run 2.0. If it had online and the ability to interact with other players on the map (potentially maps?), it could be amazing, and IMO even better than a story mode.

I don't get it why WOULDNT sephiroth be likely in smash. Cloud is in, and Square loves throwing him in as fanservice in everything. Kingdom Hearts, Dissidia featured him prominently.. Then there was the whole advent children movie being made just for an excuse to have Cloud and Sephiroth duke it out in the silver screen, why wouldnt square want nintendo to make it so the two settle it in smash?

Bosses were the best part of Subspace so if they're a focus of the new mode I'm all for it.

Unless the character has more than 8 colors, this doesn't really work because what if everyone is Lyn?

Because:

1. There is no precedence for it in Smash 4.
2. Both characters who have been upgraded from assist trophy status have had their original assist trophies removed.
3. During Smash 4's development period, Sakurai has officially stated that assist trophies do not join the battle and has not went back on that statement as of 10/11/2018.

It's not an impossibility, but so far that concept only has evidence going against it.

I generally was hoping Nintendo would partner with square to put more FF characters in smash but Sephiroth would be prefect considering hes got tons of popularity in the series next to Cloud.

So despite us not getting something this week, I still find it believable that we will still get our last information drop this month. Some may not believe anymore, but I still have a good feeling about this month.

To give some context, prior to Smash 4 3DS releasing, the ESRB leak basically crushed the ability for Nintendo to properly reveal their content and surprise the fans. If I remember correctly, Shulk was revealed roughly a month before the game released, so that would have been roughly in September (I remember because I first saw that Shulk was revealed while using a computer in a college class at the beginning of the semester). I also remember that the Shulk icon was actually NOT Little Mac, but totally Shulk himself. Surprise!

Considering the ESRB leak occurred roughly a month and a half-two months prior to release of Smash 3DS, it’s comparable to where we are now.

However, Smash Ultimate still has Spirits, potentially trophies, any final Smash changes, DLC, and I assume other announcements to make before release, not just the characters that are left. Characters are important and probably the most hype additions, but imagine the wind taken out of the proverbial sails of the hype train if a leaked trailer for any character or mode randomly shows up.

They could absolutely wait until November. But to avoid leaks, I think they’d try for earlier reveals.

The August Direct showed the amount of songs FF is getting, which is still 2.

Only way One Winged Angel could be in is if they removed the boss theme which would be a crime itself because OWA is extremely boring.

I'm right there with ya. I replayed SSE recently and quite honestly didn't really enjoy it as much as I remembered. It gets stale really, really quickly and is just far too bloated and long. It's only redeeming qualities are the cutscenes and boss fights. Everything else is pretty boring.

The only compromise I could see happening with ATs if one gets promoted to playable as DLC is by taking the character out of the pool of possible spawns for the AT item while the character is being used by a player. I mean, I doubt that'll happen, but who knows? Maybe it will.

All good points. I still think it's a possibility, but I understand there's a lot going against it.
Still, Sakurai IS the absolute madman. I wouldn't rule it out, however unlikely it is.

I mean, I guess I can understand why people are disappointed in Charizard not going Mega anymore, however, Triple Finish is honestly one of the coolest Final Smashes ever IMO. Aura Storm and Great Aether are up there as well. It's honestly such a satisfying and cool move.

It's too bad the VA for PT this time around is so much worse. Maybe the Leaf VA will be better though.

It could've easily been triple finish with Mega Charizard

Possible, but unprecedented.

I don't know, but I imagine that it's because they standardize the songs in Smash to 2-3 minutes.

For OWA to be in Smash, we'd only get half of it at best.
