So I have a question. Between ,:ultrobin,and , which one would you keep in Smash?

So if each series got a boss in Spirits mode, who do you want to/think we'll see?

Here are a few of my predictions:
Mario: King Boo
Legend of Zelda: Ganon or Zant
Yoshi: Kamek
Metroid: Kraid
Kirby: Marx or 02
Fire Emblem: Black Knight
Star Fox: Andross
Kid Icarus: Hades
Mother: Porky or Giygas
Punch Out: King Hippo
Pikmin: Emperor Bulbax
Sonic: Eggman
Metal Gear: Rex or Ray
Mega Man: Dr. Wily
Street Fighter: M. Bison

Wasn't Roy being DLC in Sm4sh because of the backlash of being absent in Brawl? Seems like he's one of the more popular Fire Emblem characters...

Roy seems to only be popular because of Smash, but even as far as Smash characters go, it would make way more sense to keep Ike or Robin.

"Assists can't be DLC" is an unsubstantiated fan rule. They're not going to ignore demand because they have a predetermined role. Adding any character would be "more work" anyway, and if people are willing to pay for it, there's no reason not to do it.

To be honest, while I think some picks from the Assist Trophy pool would make for fine additions as characters, I don’t think there’s any reason to believe that it’s likely they would be upgraded.

This is another case from earlier, where sure we can’t prove the development team WOULDN’T do it. But the point is that it needs to be proven that the team WOULD do it. As of right now, there’s no precedent for that.

Certainly not impossible, but I don’t think it’s even close to being likely. Fan demand has existed quite clearly for other characters in the past. Ridley was identified as a popular character despite his role as a boss on Pyrosphere. He didn’t get into the same game, but the following game as a playable character.

I sincerely wouldn’t be opposed to it, as I think Waluigi would be absolutely hilarious as the first reveal if it DOES happen.

Basically, I don’t care if it happens either way, but i’ll believe it when I see it.

Ike. He’s practically iconic to Smash at this point and goddammit that was a pun.

To be honest, while I think some picks from the Assist Trophy pool would make for fine additions as characters, I don’t think there’s any reason to believe that it’s likely they would be upgraded.

If I’m being honest, Nintendo would have to be allergic to money NOT to do it. They know it’d be a huge shock and would print money if they upgraded assists to DLC.

Robin. He's the most unique and I like him the best. Ike comes very close though. It's a really tough call between the two of them.

Waluigi as either the face of Smash Ultimate DLC or the first newcomer in the future Smash 6 (whenever that comes out) would be a pretty good marketing tactic for Nintendo. In terms of casual players, Waluigi is actually pretty well known, and alllll the memes are a big tick in his favour.

King Boo definitely would fit perfectly for Spirits for obvious reasons. Easily could replace Petey Piranha if you ask me.

Corrin second, because he's a bloody dragon-human hybrid thing (I don't know the lore) which is so bad ass.

Robin third, because I don't care for the design or the moveset or how slow they move.

All in all it was just an ideal guess how I think it would be. I'd picture the reboot roster being based mostly around the first three games as well as characters who would had appeared in the N64 game like and such as well as keeping at least one retro character.

Maybe I'll work on it again then in that case.

If Smash got rebooted there’s no way Star Fox would have the same amount of characters as pokemon, and Jigglypuff definitely wouldn’t be playable. Also Roy definitely wouldn’t be playable. We’d probably have Chrom instead.

I mean... Sakurai did say that Assist Trophies can all be considered special guests. So clearly he cares about them enough.

Of course, yes, being a playable character is a higher honor, but given that he already believes that certain characters' appearances as ATs is honorable enough, that gives me enough reason to believe why ATs won't become playable down the road.

Believe me though, I would love to have certain AT characters be playable, but I'm satisfied enough that they're acknowledged at all. Alucard? Shovel Knight? Krystal? Ashley? As much as I would love them to be playable, I'm just glad they're here at all.

That and the fact that she's the series namesake in Japan, where Kid Icarus is known as Palutena's Mirror.

She's literally the Zelda to Pit's Link. Palutena is never getting cut, even in the more dire of reboot situations.

Yeah that's accurate, Corrin's biological father was a dragon.

Of course they don't really talk about it within Fate's story and nobody questions it when he is suddenly able to turn into a dragon all of a sudden, so I can't really blame you for not being sure.

I can't see Animal Crossing or Splatoon ever being cut at this point. A lot of the franchises added to the series past the original have had great success, but those two along with Fire Emblem seem like they'd always be present even in a dire reboot everything situation.

:ultrobin. He's one of the few hardcore magic users we have in Smash. Plus, Awakening was my first FE, so nostalgia bias.

Bias aside, though...Ike's probably the one who should stay.

Yes! I never really understood the notion that they couldn't just "remove" the Assist Trophy for the new DLC character.

Yes, the work on the Assist Trophy is "wasted", but who the hell cares? If anything, the work isn't wasted, because you can use the Assist Trophy's model as the ground work for the Playable Character, either easing up or straight up skipping a whole development step (creating the character's model).

I agree. People act like being made an AT is a huge disrespect, even more so this time around for some reason. But let's be real, there a ton of video game characters in existence, and it just isn't feasible to make them all playable. I'd rather see them show in some capacity than not at all.

I honestly see it being the opposite. It's Dark Pit I can't see being cut because the entire point of him is that he's super easy to just clone off of Pit. There's no reason to cut him as long as Sakurai is at the helm. Meanwhile Sakurai's bias tends to be overstated a bit so I could still see Palutena being lower on the veteran priority list.

It's stuff like Pikmin, Kid Icarus, Wii Fit, and the classic franchises like Duck Hunt, Ice Climber, etc I'd be worried about in the case of a reboot.

And maybe to a lesser extent Xenoblade, but it's success lately has been quite compelling enough to keep it.

Everything in Smash at the moment deserves to be in Smash. I do not wish Sakurai to have to deal with this job, because woo boy. It's a difficult task to handle.
