Ash-Greninja being in just tempts me to write tons of fanfics where everyone in the current roster joins him at the middle of the League to beat the living **** out of Alain's Charizard together and give Ash the victory he deserved the most. Oh, I can already savour it.

While I doubt any leak that either doesn't become blatantly true nor any that isn't condoned or claimed by Vergeben, I don't think the date being an anniversary means anything, Bayonetta 2's happened last month and she still doesn't have a blog entry.

The only compromise I could see happening with ATs if one gets promoted to playable as DLC is by taking the character out of the pool of possible spawns for the AT item while the character is being used by a player. I mean, I doubt that'll happen, but who knows? Maybe it will.

Therein lies the problem of "What if you play against someone who doesn't have the DLC?"

We know there's only 2 songs, most likely the same ones from Smash4.

Stranger things have happened. And if the music would reveal a newcomer they wouldnt just show it in the Direct would they? I mean i wont hold my breath or anything but this is like the cube of cardboard, just because something is the way it is as revealed at one point does not mean itll be in that form forever and always. Unless theres a rights issue that can be outlined..

I don't know, but I imagine that it's because they standardize the songs in Smash to 2-3 minutes.

For OWA to be in Smash, we'd only get half of it at best.

That's not too much of a problem IMO. The KH 2.5 HD ReMIX version is shortened to an "appropriate" length for Smash and still sounds fine. You lose most of the intro and the instrumental bit in the middle, but all vocal bits are retained.

"Assists can't be DLC" is an unsubstantiated fan rule. They're not going to ignore demand because they have a predetermined role. Adding any character would be "more work" anyway, and if people are willing to pay for it, there's no reason not to do it.

That wouldn't be a problem, as DLC is already downloaded with patch data. All purchasing it really does is act as an unlock key to allow users to access the content.

That said, I still don't think it'll happen, unfortunately.

To be perfectly honest, I'm expecting Skull Kid to suffer this fate as well.
Personally, if they're an AT, I still think they have a chance, but if they're a boss, then I'd say that's game over. Better luck in Smash 6 which isn't happening by the way, Ultimate's just gonna be updated and ported forever

That's how I think it should go honestly because lets be real if another Smash game gets made there's gonna be loooooot of cuts especially being how big Smash is there's no way Nintendo is making this the last game.

Unless the character has more than 8 colors, this doesn't really work because what if everyone is Lyn?

What If there was an 8 Player Smash with all Waluigis and the Waluigi assist pops up?

That's simple, just give assist trophies their own unique "alt pallet". Possibly even just a darkened or shadowy version of the default one.

I don't think it's likely but the work around seems simple enough. Still might be a pain to program but I don't see that being a deal breaker since apparently Ryu was a bit of a hassle to create himself.

I don't get it why WOULDNT sephiroth be likely in smash. Cloud is in, and Square loves throwing him in as fanservice in everything. Kingdom Hearts, Dissidia featured him prominently.. Then there was the whole advent children movie being made just for an excuse to have Cloud and Sephiroth duke it out in the silver screen, why wouldnt square want nintendo to make it so the two settle it in smash?

he's not a popular pick on this site but he is very likely imo. he's bigger than most of the roster already.
he wouldnt be a boss like the other characters some people mentioned.

As if.

They'd probably just chop out most of the beginning and the entire middle bit from the original track, or if they had the rights to it (not sure if Disney owns any part of it) just use the KH version.

I actually like Charizard not Mega-evolving for Triple Finish, if he did then it would ruin the parallelism between the starters since Squirtle and Ivysuar can't Mega-evolve. Charizard Mega-evolving, while Squirtle and Ivysaur remain as-is, would be super awkward.

Ok i could believe that unless the music wasnt shown as it was still being negotiated or was hidden because of spoilers. but a game in development should be treated as always subject to change.. So it isnt IMPOSSIBLE for Sephiroth to be in Smash. OR his song.

If Smash were rebooted, it should start with a remake of Smash 64, but along the way three DLC characters are added and a stage for each one.
Frankly one of the greatest things about Smash 64 is its content minimalism. Compared to today's video games, Smash 64 manages to do so much with so little content that it's ridiculous. Developers should work on that, because when it succeeds it creates greatness.

People make the "assist trophy as playable for DLC" be a bigver issue than it really is.

"They're not gonna throw all the work they did on the AT away!"
Except they can use the already-existing assets to save time and resources instead of starting from scratch.

"It's going to be confusing if 8 players are with that character and the assist is summoned"
Because, yes, Sakurai will drop a character in the event that someone were playing with items on, an AT showed up and out of it popped up the same character, the horror! It's not like they can't just make the assist not appear and it's not like Smash 4's online gave a slightly darker shade of the same alt if both players were using the same one. Not to mention **** like Cloud, Pac-Man and Sonic as a whole. A character that shows up for 5 seconds during a match won't interfere in the cohesikn of it more than any other AT already does and they can simply be quietly removed.

Keeping Roy while Inklings and to a lesser extent (even if I like him more) Shulk is a crime. Heck, Roy over literally any other FE character in the game is a crime.

All in all it was just an ideal guess how I think it would be. I'd picture the reboot roster being based mostly around the first three games as well as characters who would had appeared in the N64 game like and such as well as keeping at least one retro character.

Maybe I'll work on it again then in that case.

I remember someone posted a reboot roster without Ness, and he said he wasn’t relevant enough.
The thing is, they are NEVER going to remove one of the original 12. Yeah, they almost removed Jigglypuff in Brawl, but that was what, ten years ago now?
Regardless of their relevancy, removing characters like Falcon or Ness from Smash is like removing the X-Men from Marvel vs. Capcom OH WAIT.
This roster is a lot closer to what a Smash reboot would actually have.

Wasn't Roy being DLC in Sm4sh because of the backlash of being absent in Brawl? Seems like he's one of the more popular Fire Emblem characters...
