Apologies if it seemed like I was bashing Shantae, I really, truly wasn't. She is something I would enjoy very much, however, I tend to pessimistic when it's something I want.

Shantae would be very cool and is far from impossible, however, I'm not sure she has great chances either. I think she kinda stands somewhere in the middle, IMO. She does have a little more going for her than SK did, however, they both still retain the same status as indie, which I'm unsure how those stand in Smash after SK's AT. To each their own, though: There really isn't anything that says it can't happen, which I'm glad for. I want her a lot, as she could bring very unique things to the table.

No worries, it's good to look at both sides of character's advantages and disadvantages when it comes too inclusion

if Shantae ever does become a playable fighter, that “I Was Wrong” thread is going to be absolutely glorious.

I'll just be happy to have her in the game character or AT... but I'd be lying if I said I wouldn't check it out. Oh delicious indeed.

Heres a question, if you could have a newcomer of your choice join the roster, with a home stage and a costume who would you choose?
I'd go for Professor Layton and a stage based on the opera scene rom Eternal Diva.
Also Soccer Player Layton as costume to reference that cameo in Inazuma Eleven, another Level-5 IP

Give me Amaterasu with Kamiki Village as a stage, with a Shiranui costume.

Not a lot of people talked about Rayman this time around. Once the ball got rolling after E3, most discussion got into 3 or 4 major topics when it came to characters. The fact he even got in as a regular trophy last time was a fairly big deal right? Even if he isn't playable, do you think that could add to his chances of being an assist at the very least?

As for reveals and stuff, last month we got info, so I've got no problem waiting honestly.

He's one of my most wanted characters too. He was my first GBA game.

She's a blank slate, so she could easily have characters and items from throughout the series in her move set without feeling out of place.

The stage would be Remix 10. It will kinda be like the Warioware stage, going through a bunch of rhythm games throughout the series.

Out of all the Rhythm Heaven characters, I want Tap Trial Girl, I can imagine the different amount of Costumes she'd have. She could also incorporate different characters moves too like you said.

I agree with that, not only you have to bribe the clerk, you have to figth the scalpers and pay the medical bills of the surgery after the fight.
And we didnt even talk about the amiibo price yet

So... I went through the Japanese site, and found some more. Here are my favorites

I have been wondering wether or not Sakurai would include content from outside media in Smash that are still related to a videogame of origin. I mean, I know the Misty trophy was based off her anime design and Ash Ketchum was directly referenced in the Pokemon Trainer trophy but still.

That'd be cool, but our boy Shovel Knight got an Amiibo first and is stuck in Assist Trophy Hell. Same could happen with Shantae.

That said, I don't think she ever got an official 3D model, so that'd cool. Only one I saw was a Smash 4 mod that put her over Zelda.

If we got a Misty trophy based on the anime, then Sakurai wouldnt have a problem with the music coming from outside the games.
But I think it would depend more on the fact of him watching the movie

I can see what you mean. Ken in 2D art especially Street Fighter 3 Ken, looks really sick. But all of his 3D models are pretty jank. While Ryu's 3D models had a pretty solid track record.

We have Cloud's Advent Children costume from the FFVII movie, so I say it is possible. It would probably be easier to negotiate elements of Eternal Diva than Square Enix I bet.

Daisy, Ridley, Simon, Richter, Dark Samus, Chrom, King K Rool, 103 stages, new modes and QoL changes, etc. all revealed within 2 months...

And since the last Smash Direct in August we've only gotten Isabelle basically a month ago and seemingly bad news ("reveals will be slowing down").

It definitely could be described as the most painful drought of this Smash hype cycle.

yeah im cautiously optimistic this means they might not be as hype as they were the first time, people might not collect them so much just the hardcore fans, and they will be more available (just mostly online)... conversely though it could mean that since these store dont stock them they become nearly impossible to find anywhere... i dont know but i have everything preordered that can be right now

There once was a point where it'd practically be impossible to preorder certain amiibo. And I was able to nab a Tiki amiibo - a Fire Emblem character - at standard price without even having to preorder it. The scalping problem has definitely been slowed down.

I don't get it. I lived through the entirety of the Smash 4 cycle without even cheking the daily things, and just looking at the character reveals,, and I felt completely fine. But with this game I just have a huge need for news, even though the wait time is much, much shorter.

If Isabelle was revealed as she originally was (which is what his Famistu Column is based on) we would be nearing the end of our “reveal” break. We had 3 brand new characters and 3 echoes revealed (6 characters) in our previous month. But this time we had 0 newcomers revealed around the same time frame (it’s October 8th).

I’m pretty sure that there is a reveal planned soon. I think Sakurai is planning to reveal most (or maybe all if he’s that ambitious) for a direct. However, we can also get a reveal in November as well.

Like whom? I kinda want to know.

I’ve barely discuss them here. There’s a lot of things that support them for being the possible newcomers. I know that Vergeben is why they haven’t been discussed that much here anymore (and why only 1 character is discussed at this point), but with the things I (and some others) have gathered about them, I think there’s a lot going in their favor that still makes them likely.

It's because we had veteran reveals on top of newcomer reveals back then. With this game, there's no reason to speculate who's coming back because they literally told us, "Everyone is here" with the first real trailer for Ultimate.

Honestly hate the idea of Incineroar. But I feel like Klingklang wouldn't have much moveset potential, nor would other Pokemon based on random objects.

Incineroar is such a wack choice for Smash.

You answered your own question. Because the wait is so much shorter than previous games, information is being distributed more often and as a result it leaves us more hungry than not.

5 is probably the topmost amount left. 2 being unique and 3 being echoes if it is 5.
