We didn't have very many playable female characters in general until Smash 4 to be fair.

I think they would make for an excellent Assist Trophy; we already have Galaga and Pong, might as well get Space Invaders in too.

If we're talking strictly Taito though, I'd love it if Bub and Bob from Bubble Bobble could make it in too. I loved that game along with Bust-A-Move on the Dreamcast.

You know, I just realized that should this game get modded, people will eventually make a Bowser-ette echo fighter of Peach

It was funny when Isabelle was unique and Daisy fans were mad or salty saying she should have been an echo if daisy was one

is there anything else to add for Daisy?
i'm more happy they stay true to her being alternative Peach instead of making her too entirely on those spinoffs
a bit like not needing to reference everything Ganon to Ganondorf in Smash, having a float mechanic and sword moves is more than enough im my case. (and maybe they should've made some of his customs as his main specials too)
i wonder if they will let her shoot Superballs for her Down+B or just do turnips again

I'm not sure, you might be thinking of either Bust-A-Move 2: Arcade Edition (PS1 and Saturn versions) or Super Bust-A-Move (PS2 version).

I was curious a couple days ago and decided to look back at posts on these forums before Brawl came out.
The only characters that really weren't discussed before their announcement were

Some other things I found:

• Everyone seemed to think Brawl's roster would end up around 40-50 characters.
• The most popular characters that didn't get in were Ridley, K. Rool, Geno, Mega Man, and Krystal.
• Bowser Jr. and Midna were discussed a lot as well.
• Everyone thought Sonic was a lock
• Main Pokemon suggestions were Blaziken, Deoxys, and Lucario, with Lucario arguably being the most popular
• Mewtwo was seen as a character that was most likely coming back. Look how that turned out. We wouldn't see him for 13 years.
  • Some people must have been lacking a few brain cells as well, since the reason they didn't want Mewtwo back is because he sucked in Melee
• In terms of cut characters, Doc, Pichu, and Roy were "most likely not to return" (they didn't), Young Link would be replaced with Toon Link, Ness might be replaced with Lucas, and Ice Climbers and Game and Watch were seen as somewhat likely not to return. Falco and Sheik were also discussed as well.
• People were pissed R.O.B. was playable, saying that "Sakurai ruined the game" and "I'm not buying this game". What a bunch of babies.

I wasn't here specifically at that time, but I do remember some of this, especially the Mewtwo and Ness stuff, though I vaguely remember Geno being brought up on certain occasions too.

Seeing stuff like this kind of makes me envision Smash discussion as a sort of time capsule, as corny as that probably sounds.

Still, it is interesting to see these points be brought up again, so thank you.

I still remember during Smash 4's speculation period (not on this site), that someone tried to argue with me that Sonic didn't deserve to be in a second Smash game and that Sega would be greedy if he was in there again.

It was such a moment for me.

You know what weird if you would have told me that Bayo would be in 4 like back in 2010 I would have called anyone a damn fool. Even I told myself that through time travel.

I remember being sad because I thought "Up until now" on Lucas' Brawl profile meant Ness wasn't returning. Though I think that turned out to be a weird translation thing or something?

Though of course Ness ended up being leaked along with I think Jigglypuff and Lucario in some pictures found of the Sticker book.

I'm not very familiar with Digimon but I have watched some of the anime, so just from that this would be cool if he's playable.

This kind of lasted into Sm4sh speculation as well. Maybe it was just because I was a huge Mewtwo supporter that I ran into these people but it still baffles me that they exist.

Even after we got Mewtwo released as DLC there was this one guy who kept saying that Mewtwo shouldn't have come back unless they buffed his weight a bunch because "he'd never be viable otherwise" and that being low tier was an "insult" to Mewtwo fans. Now look how that turned out.
