Less work seems to be more of an excuse for echoes though. While Semi-Clones do still require a good amount of work since they're essentially Luigified off the base character. The only thing I'd say in regards to Shadow over Tails is that the game needs more villains. If Spirits mode really is what we think it is, then Shadow could work more in favor of giving us antagonists than Tails would.
Also, as far as semi-clones go, Shadow would certainly require less work than Tails. Tails isn't the same size at all and can only reuse the spin dash animation. Almost everything else would need to be reanimated from scratch.
You should relax, man.My God.....how long has this theory been around and people still don't get the basic concept?! It lists the box theory as one more newcomer because the box only has one more spot on it's side. Like how are people still missing this?! There are two more characters. Twooooooo! Argh.
I mean 74 confirmed characters with 103 stages and at the very least a proper classic mode is a ****ing steal when compared to everything else that comes out for the same price these daysDamn, ya'll are really eager to pay more than $60 for this game, huh
The first thing I'm doing is using my Animal Crossing series Isabelle amiibo, then I'm going head-first into unlocking the fighters.I imagine most people here are gonna spend their first moments in Ultimate playing with friends. But for those of us with friends in other states who aren't readily available, what''s the first thing you're gonna do in Ultimate?
Personally i'm gonna spend a few short matches getting reacquainted with Smash gameplay, and then i'm gonna do an 8-player Smash with each of the og 8.
As the best one of course. After that i'll probably dive headfirst into spirits mode, or however you unlock characters. The sooner I unlock the better.
he Isabelle one probably won't be released for a whileThe first thing I'm doing is using my Isabelle amiibo, then I'm going head-first into unlocking the fighters.
I'm just happy its only $60 for all the content were getting in this game.Damn, ya'll are really eager to pay more than $60 for this game, huh
Sure and I agree, but I still see some heavy "hail corporate" vibes here with how willing people are to pay for DLCI mean 74 confirmed characters with 103 stages and at the very least a proper classic mode is a ****ing steal when compared to everything else that comes out for the same price these days
If DLC is made after development on the base game finishes. I have no problem with it, especially since they managed to add 5 (so far) highly requested characters and have no cuts. I'll gladly buy a season pass for this game, something I've never done before.Sure and I agree, but I still see some heavy "hail corporate" vibes here with how willing people are to pay for DLC
I do find it off-putting when people talk about DLC before we even know what we're getting in the base game...Sure and I agree, but I still see some heavy "hail corporate" vibes here with how willing people are to pay for DLC
It's kind of ironic that the Smash community is one of the few gaming communities out there that actively push for DLC.Sure and I agree, but I still see some heavy "hail corporate" vibes here with how willing people are to pay for DLC
its still an unfinished design. do you have any proof that the design will literally look like that at release? So, only thing I'll say so that this doesn't spawn another five-page box discussion is that the "placeholder" argument needs to stop. It's too detailed, too exact and too close to the game going gold to still be considered a placeholder. You can still disbelieve the theory's conclusion, but dismissing the box itself as a placeholder is disingenuous at best, putting your fingers into your ears and going "I CAN'T HEAR YOU LA LA LA" at worst.
This is placeholder box art.
This is not.
mewtwo wasn't even worked on till after 3ds was released. and there's no way that sakurai is going to siphon critical staff and resources away from the base game at an important time to work on dlc.Your trying to disprove the box theory also makes the assumption DLC hasn't been worked on
Because that totally has any chance of actually happening, right?yeah im going to buy all the dlc, i'm a sucker for nintendo/smash
only thing that would stop me is they did some next level **** and added michael jordan or tom cruise, because hurr durr they're well known :b
The internet is a great place where I can exaggerate how I'm actually feeling by adding "argh" and exclamation points. Please don't try to take that away from meYou should relax, man.
It's simply a part of gaming now. The costs of development rise as these things get more and more complex, but nobody's willing to pay more than $60 for a release, even though that's considerably cheaper than games were ten, twenty, thirty years ago due to inflation.Sure and I agree, but I still see some heavy "hail corporate" vibes here with how willing people are to pay for DLC
It's possible the SE character hasn't even started being working on as well and just plannedits still an unfinished design. do you have any proof that the design will literally look like that at release?

DLC is alright as long as it's extra content that wasn't cut from the main game.Sure and I agree, but I still see some heavy "hail corporate" vibes here with how willing people are to pay for DLC
Its not because people like DLC, but because they're worried they won't be getting the characters they want.I do find it off-putting when people talk about DLC before we even know what we're getting in the base game...
It has no chance of happening, that's the joke lol. you ok?Because that totally has any chance of actually happening, right?
I have criticized Capcom's dlc practices before, I'm not going to defend Nintendo if they release the game and have content on the disc that's already there behind a paywallSure and I agree, but I still see some heavy "hail corporate" vibes here with how willing people are to pay for DLC
ROUTE 1: Put Geno in the base roster.Sure and I agree, but I still see some heavy "hail corporate" vibes here with how willing people are to pay for DLC
At least it's better than spending hundreds of dollars on microtransactionsSure and I agree, but I still see some heavy "hail corporate" vibes here with how willing people are to pay for DLC
Right, but considering we don't have any clue how DLC will be handled, why can't we hope to see additional content for free. Like how Overwatch handles new characters. It'd be an incentive to buy the base product knowing the game will be supported with free additions in the future. If DLC is made after development on the base game finishes. I have no problem with it, especially since they managed to add 5 (so far) highly requested characters and have no cuts. I'll gladly buy a season pass for this game, something I've never done before.
I don't mind it, but that's because I don't play games onlineWhat do you guys think about Nintendo switch online personally I hate it
yeah no. maybe sakurai has sat down and written plans for dlc but that's all they likely are: plans. right now the dev team is probably hyper-focused on getting the game out on Dec 7th (as they should be. polishing and QA will probably take months)It's possible the SE character hasn't even started being working on as well and just planned
You know, thinking about it, that gap in the character art kind of looks like where they would put the barcode.
This is not.
They do, and they work with any Switch game provided you don't need -, ZL, motion controls, or clicking the sticks.Do the Wii U GameCube controller adapters work with ultimate? I can't find a clear answer.
Only reason some people are doing this is because they feel certain they know the final roster due to box theory. If that wasn't a thing you'd still see people speculating that X character might be base.I do find it off-putting when people talk about DLC before we even know what we're getting in the base game...
I don't think enough people look at it like this. Things cost money to develop. If you want more content then they're going to have to charge for it in order to make it worthwhile, especially when you want games to stay at a consistent price like you mention. Someone has to pay Sakurai and his team the hours for making Cloud a character, someone has to pay Square royalties for him being in.It's simply a part of gaming now. The costs of development rise as these things get more and more complex, but nobody's willing to pay more than $60 for a release, even though that's considerably cheaper than games were ten, twenty, thirty years ago due to inflation.
I'm not a fan of blindly throwing money at season passes or the new "games as a service" thing the industry is pushing, but I'm totally willing to pay for additional content post-release if the content is something I like.
Of course, it looks amazing!Damn, ya'll are really eager to pay more than $60 for this game, huh
Because Smash 4's wasn't free? Your stance has a pretty bad memory.why can't we hope to see additional content for free.
I mean, it is set to be a good game from a good series that has a "if it ain't broke, don't fix it!" structure. The DLC in 4 was generally more substantial than some games in their entire life cycles, so imagine how it would be here. It's kind of ironic that the Smash community is one of the few gaming communities out there that actively push for DLC.
Aren’t bar codes usually on the back though? You know, thinking about it, that gap in the character art kind of looks like where they would put the barcode.
Imagine the havoc that would result from that. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Usually, but not always. Barcodes can be wherever the box designer wants 'em to be.Aren’t bar codes usually on the back though?
I think it's very likely that would just go on the back or bottom of box.You know, thinking about it, that gap in the character art kind of looks like where they would put the barcode.
Imagine the havoc that would result from that. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Something I personally disagree with.Only reason some people are doing this is because they feel certain they know the final roster due to box theory. If that wasn't a thing you'd still see people speculating that X character might be base.
