She’s not broad shouldered like she is in Samus Returns, so combined with the other changes she basically looks like a pallette swap of Wii Fit Trainer.

She looks all washed out and drained of colour, although this applies to a lot of characters to be fair, because Ultimate has this sucky “realistic” art direction.

Her new final smash is meh, because Sakurai suddenly decided every single final smash has to be some sort of one-off attack because reasons.

Happy now?! But again, not the only character I want alts for.

And then the latest Smash Bros goes onto have both Snake and Cloud, as well as a bunch of Castlevania stuff. And again, that's without characters they could add like Heihachi, Crash, Spyro, maybe Rayman?

Sorry for the extremely late response on this:
I also get what you mean, but that doesn't change the fact of what it is.
But let's say we get Incineroar, as far as he would be considered is a "promotional" character.
Because despite how many people may like him, he wasn't asked for or voted for at all.
That's just how it is.
One that wouldn't even work in regards to TPCI's intentions, as USUM is practically done and no longer payed attention to anymore.
Kinda how Gen 5 was thrown out of the way for Gen 6, and so on.
And while it is mostly due to Smash's development cycle, I'd also argue it's also due to TPCI and their short generation cycle and/or lack of hindsight for demanding a new Pokémon.

Just to me, it's extremely interesting as a ballot and older Pokémon could've gotten on the roster.
But everyone involved attempted to go with a risky character with unforseen results.

To me, this is the only thing I feel could end up going against Incineroar in the end. Most of the Pokemon that make it in are heavily marketed and big fan favorites. No offense to Incineroar fans and please correct me if I'm wrong, but Incineroar just...doesn't seem very pushed by the Pokemon Company or by fans.

If he does make it in, it just kinda feels weird to me. He doesn't seem to be pushed super hard in the anime, he isn't pushed a ton in merch, he hasn't gotten a major role in one of the movies to my knowledge, and in general he seems kind of ignored by the Pokemon community. Greninja was heavily pushed in the anime; Mewtwo was, well, Mewtwo; Lucario was the poster Pokemon during the Brawl era and has still retained his fanbase; Pichu is the pre-evo of Pikachu; Jigglypuff was kinda like the secondary mascot next to Pikachu back in the day, as it was Misty's Pokemon; and Pokemon Trainer is the player themselves with the three most iconic starters in the franchise. Incineroar didn't even seem to be well liked when he was first shown off, as a lot of people seemed to be disappointed that once again, our fire starter ended up a two-legged fighter.

Please keep in mind that all of this is speculation on my part, I am not claiming what is and isn't objectively popular, I'm simply coming from what I've seen as someone who was following the pre-release of Sun and Moon and stuff that happened after. Heck, I'm actually in the camp that thinks he's in Smash, all I'm saying is that he doesn't seem to tick any of the boxes the previous Pokemon additions have, and that's kind of weird to me.

I don't know why this idea popped in my head, but after it did, I loved it. I imagine Luigi would be super cowardly and afraid of confrontation, while Inkling would always rush in and drag him into it. Plus, I like the idea of him being frightened by them at first 'cause their eyes look like a Blooper's.

I so want them to try again and actually put some significant resources behind it, but I feel like it won't happen for a long time, purely due to how PSASBR bombed.

Remember that Sakurai picked Greninja without knowing how popular it actually was going to be. It's probably the same with Incineroar - Gamefreak or TPC showed it to him and he just decided he liked it's design.

And it is still a starter pokemon. Even if you aren't seeing a lot of Incineroar promotion, there is still a good amount Litten merch out there. The base starters are always at the forefront of advertising a generation.

What alts do you want for Zerosuit Samus? If it's her Brawl, Smash 4, or Returns looks, they won't happen due to be too similar to default, it'd be hard to tell them apart if they were both used in a match.

Anyway.
1) I disagree, they look different enough.
2) It has the same art style from Smash 4, just different lighting..definitely not realistic..that's more Brawl's territory.
3) Sakurai wants it that way to help pacing. That's not part of her design though.

Greninja wasn't heavily pushed until after its appearance in Smash. They are currently developing Ash's Torracat so it will most likely get heavily pushed next year when it evolves into Incineroar. inb4 Ash-Inceneroar becomes a thing.....

I prefer to go to local used game shops and try out their official controllers until I find one that doesn't have its stick busted from Melee. THey're usually only $15-20.

PlayStation All-Stars isn’t a masterpiece by any means but I feel people give it a lot more **** than it actually deserves.

Stuff like Crash not getting in was due to Activision not willing to cooperate. The developers fully embraced the fact it was a Smash inspired game in interviews. And for the franchises it did represent, it represented them very well.

The stages being crossovers was an absolutely brilliant idea. Really makes the game feel like a clash between worlds.

The Rival cutscenes, while rather cheesy, provided a lot of charm. Where else are you going to see Big Daddy get jealous that Little Sister has taken a liking to Sackboy? Or Sweet Tooth get upset at Kratos knocking over his ice cream.

Again, the game is not perfect, but for what the team was given, they made the best game they possibly could.

It’s a shame a sequel will probably never happen. Given a second chance and getting rid of the growing pains, I think they could make something that clicks with more people.

Fun fact when I discovered Fire Emblem in Melee there was so little info about those games I assumed it was a Soul Calibur clone.
I also thought that Earthbound was a life simulator (because of Onett's settings) where characters have psychic powers for some reason.

Also since we discussed Spirit mode a little bit before, how do you think it will be structured? I personally don't expect something similar to SSE, as I think it will not have much story, only an excuse plot at most. Even though it's only seculation with no evidence, here's how I imagine it:

The Spirit mode will be separated in different floors, where you will have to collect all of its characters. In each floor there are between between 5 and 9 characters, and which characters are in each group will be determined by their number (for example the original 8 will be in the first floor while Ultimate newcomers will be together in the last one). In each floor there will be two parts: one based mostly on exploration with a lot of enemies in your way (making it similar to the great maze or Smash Run in term of how you go through it), and the other which can only be accessed by the floor's characters until you beat the floor, with a lot of obstacles that need the unique abilities of certain characters to overcome, basically making it a metroidvania part. In both areas you will be able to find collectibles and characters to unlock, and in order to beat the floor will must have found enough collectibles and all of its characters to fight the floor's boss. Once you have beaten the boss of the final floor (which I'd expect to be Dracula since Simon would be in the last floor), if not done yet will will have to backtrack to find more collectibles and all Echo fighters in order to open the door of the final boss, who will have his own floor full of hazards before you can fight it. In addition, unlocking characters in the Spirit mode will also unlock them for the rest of the game.

Edit: in addition, there will be two additional floors in Spirits for DLC characters. If you buy all the DLC characters of a floor, you will also be able to buy that floor in which you will have to use all of its DLC characters to beat its boss. Also, you can buy a season pass early and get all of its characters as soon as they release, as well as their Spirit mode floor for free.
