I just remembered something. On January or February, it's Smash 20th anniversary. What if Sakurai has something especial prepared for us in celebration of that? Like some kind of pack with a bunch of characters or something.

Anyways, I really hope the dlc lifetime of this game is long and good so we can get plenty of characters, stages, and even items or modes. And the best part is, any character would be brand new yes or yes. It's exciting to think.

There is a lot of things that I would really like them to do for Smash's 20th Anniversary as a Smash Art Book Compilation etc.

who do you think is going to be the worst newcomer in ultimate (in terms of teirs)

I don't think he's going to be the worst (unfortunately I think Dark Samus has that covered), but I feel like Simon is going to be this game's Little Mac. He's going to wreck people early on due to his crazy range and many projectiles that we initially won't know how to deal with, but his awful frame data is going to come back and bite him over time.

Some of you need to take a breather from this boxart discussion.

I don't know about you guys, but the current list of newcomers is already leagues better than what Smash 4 did for me. As overstated as this may be, what we have right now already guarantees us a pretty awesome roster. No need to shed tears on the characters who didn't make it. Focus on the ones who did make it.

Nope. First new characters revealed where Inkling, Daisy and Ridley, first music tracks added where a Zelda, Street Fighter and Metroid one. While Mario and Splatoon later got featured, they were quite a bit later. Then we got the Smash Direct which had Belmonts, Chrom, Dark Samus and K.Rool. Music we got after that was for CastleVania, DK and then Fire Emblem in a row. Richter and Dark Samus got nothing but Chrom DID. Meaning echoes are important enough to validate the music theory according to it's believers yet the Mario track was added like 2 months after Daisy's reveal and Dark Samus got NOTHING. Plus, Ken's been talked about because of Verge who has been spot on with his calls, if we get Ken, then the music theory makes no sense as Street Fighter already had a remix. It relies too much on "No that doesn't count because I said so"

At the very least, it's been applied to every unique newcomer.

Inkling - Splatoon remix one week after Ultimate's official reveal.
Ridley - Metroid remix same day of reveal/Ultimate's reveal.
Simon/Richter - Castlevania remix same day of reveal.
K. Rool - Donkey Kong remix one week after reveal.
Isabelle - No new Animal Crossing remix yet.
Possible Gen VII Pokemon? - No new Pokemon remix yet

Echoes are a bit more shaky. It's looking like each series is only getting one remix, so DS and Richter wouldn't need one. However, like you said, Daisy and Ken wouldn't work at all though. I'm thinking Chrom's remix was just a coincidence and Echoes aren't involved at all.


Regardless, I do think it's a theory people shouldn't ignore. It feels like it has some substance to it, and it would certainly make sense from a marketing standpoint. Personally, Isabelle will dictate whether or not I continue to believe this. If AC gets a remix this week, then I'm almost 99% sure the following newcomer will be from a franchise that hasn't gotten a track yet. Otherwise, I'll lay off this theory and you can tell me how wrong I was.

I'm not gonna lie, this box theory has stressed me out to the point where I actually kinda feel sick to my stomach.
Please for the love of god tell me I'm not the only one.

It's kind of moot either way because DLC is super likely as it is. It's kind of scuzzy but Nintendo is well aware that a lot of the remaining big picks are characters people have wanted for at least a decade and that we wouldn't think twice about paying for them individually. Worst case scenario is that it drags out the speculation game out for another year unless Nintendo does a very un-Nintendo thing and releases a time table for the DLC.

Banjo - No personal connection, but great for his fans and franchise, will enjoy watching the internet explode.
Black Knight - Absolutely ecstatic, currently one of my top 3 most wanted.
Black Shadow - Would love more F-Zero representation, and he's the obvious next step.
Medusa - More villains is cool, but I don't have much relation to KI.
Rayman - Would prefer him to be based on classic Rayman, otherwise won't care much.

I'd understand wanting Paper Mario or Isabelle, they're unique characters with distinct personalities, but Toad? He'd be like wanting Galaga ship in Smash but it can't be done merely for the fact that both of them are stuck inside other characters' movesets.

If we're not including Echoes like Chrom and DS, I'd say K. Rool would be the worst.

His recovery looks just as terrible and exposing as Duck Hunt's, his crown attack will be useless unless it deals way more damage than I think it does, his size makes him an easy target, and unlike Ridley, he doesn't have decent range to keep fighters at bay to compensate for that massive size.

Hurts to admit this because I know how popular he was. He definitely has potential, but I feel like he's gonna suffer the same fate as Bowser and Dedede unless something major happens.

Regarding the AC music track, I believe the update for the Pikmin Music was pulled from this upcoming week, implying a music track was pushed back, aka an AC track due to the direct delay.

It's a silly theory honestly, but just looking at uniques it isn't wrong yet.

Why?

People can like a character for their own reasons, why should they care about appealing to you? We just love the characters and series and want them in Smash, especially since they were once Nintendo characters. It's not that deep.

I want to see Banjo-Kazooie hang out with old Rare alumni Diddy and K. Rool. I want the character most closely tied to the N64 in Smash. I want to see Banjo bump shoulders with Solid Snake, Cloud Strife, Mega Man, and the rest.
