Actually he we be a Game Boy Advance rep along withA great DS era rep would be Phoenix Wright....
This is a sad truth. The sad truth? Complain about the final roster probably
he wouldnt be ryu at all. ryu isnt nearly as aggressive as a Mishima fighter would be. if you watch heihachi played in tekken you will see it. heihachi has been in a 2-d game before so that point is moot, he can be in this no problem. being a 3-d fighter has no impact on his ability for smash representation they could give him a unique roll that goes through projectiles like he has in street fighter x Tekken.I'm not really sure there is a way to translate Tekken gameplay into a 2D game like Smash. I'm not against Heihachi per se, but I am hesitant about him. I just honestly don't know if he'd really feel unique; I kinda get the feeling he'd just wind up being like Ryu, which was already a "meh..." thing for me. Taking a fighting game character and putting them in another fighting game just doesn't excite me that much.
(Not dissing Heihachi; if he got in I'd be happy for people who want him! I just have my own doubts about it.)
something something "considered for smash!!11!!!" or somethingAre you suggesting James Bond is a Nintendo character?
That's definitely something I like about the series. You wouldn't think G&W and ROB would be fun to play as, but they are!More than a few characters I love that are in Smash, I love thanks to them being in Smash.
Pichu, Jigglypuff, Bowser Jr., Zelda(on her own), Peach(she was just a story prop), Shulk(Never finished his game), Ness/Lucas(Never played Earthbound), Marth and Roy, Game and Watch, ROB, etc.
People would probably be worried about running into a F.O.E. if an Etrian Odyssey character makes it.You guys want a DS rep? Someone who has only ever been on the DS family and is from a game that makes the best use out of the touchscreen? Fine by me
I think this is somewhat true, but it's not about having an objective "potential" but in that Sakurai can form an image for how the character plays that is unique and fun. This sits more on the creator. For instance Sakurai was left wondering what would balloon fighter do if all his balloons were popped.
- "Characters can't get in unless I think they have moveset potential"
and that was a really cute duck too*sigh* What could have been...
We could have gotten an evolution for Farfetch'd.
I've been lucky..fav characters of mine tend to make it in..That said, the problem is most of the characters I love tend to not make it into Smash Bros...
DIdn't he start on the GBA though?A great DS era rep would be Phoenix Wright....
Yeah, but the DS versions are like the definitive versions most people play (AFAIK) plus you've got GS4 and the GK games. (Though saying that points more towards Apollo and Edgeworth)Actually he we be a Game Boy Advance rep along with
The DS games were actually ports.
I'm sure there's a chance I'll gripe about the final newcomers, but I'm by no means dissatisfied with this roster. We finally got freaking Ridley for crying out loud! This is a sad truth.
The roster is already amazing as is, and anything else right now is just bonus.
Yet the Smash community will always find something to criticize.
Exactly.Guys it's pretty simple… we must want a character because we love the character. Sakurai is adding characters we love. There are no other rules to determine why we are getting what we've gotten on Ultimate. So let's not make the mistakes all over again of assuming under what rule his choices of newcomers are based on.
The console you represent is the one you started off on. I don't give a jack's jack if the "definitive" version was on the DS, he started on the GBA, so he's a part of the GBA lineup.Yeah, but the DS versions are like the definitive versions most people play (AFAIK) plus you've got GS4 and the GK games. (Though saying that points more towards Apollo and Edgeworth)
Then again a random wtf character that no one would see that would be a DS rep would be Kyle Hyde.
Buy the game, keep it inside the closet forever, and then wait for the next Smash Bros game announcement.Holy crap. After the game actually releases, what are we all going to do with our time?
James Bond was probably not highly considered for Smash, but was specifically mentioned with Banjo & Kazooie for not being in Melee for specific reasons.something something "considered for smash!!11!!!" or something
proceeded by 30 people quoting me saying "NOT REALLY THO LMAO"
Paper Mario would be far more requested and "leaked" if Sticker Star didn't suck, Super didn't disappoint and Color Splash were known to exist by anyone outside of fervent Paper Mario fans. There's a character who represents every console including and since the N64.
Paper Mario.
Please.
Please
That would bs their Final Smash, obviouslyPeople would probably be worried about running into a F.O.E. if an Etrian Odyssey character makes it.
Imagine losing the whole point of my post so hard you fall into the same fallacies I'm condemningI think this is somewhat true, but it's not about having an objective "potential" but in that Sakurai can form an image for how the character plays that is unique and fun. I didn't know Mickey was royalty, huhFun question? How would you guys react to King Mickey getting into Smash instead of Sora because Disney demanded it so sales could increase having one of the most iconic cartoon mascots starring in a game with one of the most iconic gaming mascots.
Also Geno being an Assist Trophy?
>Geno being an ATFun question? How would you guys react to King Mickey getting into Smash but Sora being an Assist Trophy?
Also Geno being an Assist Trophy?
Conflicted, but at least his sword would be different than everybody else's, for one.Fun question? How would you guys react to King Mickey getting into Smash instead of Sora because Disney demanded it so sales could increase having one of the most iconic cartoon mascots starring in a game with one of the most iconic gaming mascots.
Also Geno being an Assist Trophy?

Ding ding ding! We have a winner!James Bond was probably not highly considered for Smash, but was specifically mentioned with Banjo & Kazooie for not being in Melee for specific reasons.
Here's the quotes, so there's no ambiguity:
"Incidentally, including a character from Rare in Smash would be difficult for various reasons. I know there are some people who think that Banjo & Kazooie are an obvious inclusion, but that’s unlikely for a variety of legal and financial reasons.”
“Showing realistic guns = no good! Character uses an actor’s likeness = no good! Since the original game is based on a movie, getting those rights = no good! He’s Rare’s property = no good! Blocked on all fronts.”
So the reasons given for Banjo & Kazooie were legal reasons--Sakurai went more in depth on James Bond, talking about realistic guns, as well as specifically talking about the extra complications when an actor's likeness is involved.
But those dismissing Banjo & Kazooie are less likely to claim legal complications outright forbid them as characters, now that the possibility is up in the are. So, they lean on tired arguments of relevancy, never Nintendo characters (haha), and these fan rules don't mean that much any more.
King mickey would be weird but regular Mickey mouse is the only non-game character I would be okay with tbh, it's mickey freaking mouse after allFun question? How would you guys react to King Mickey getting into Smash instead of Sora because Disney demanded it so sales could increase having one of the most iconic cartoon mascots starring in a game with one of the most iconic gaming mascots.

I was fortunate that I only joined the Smash fandom after Brawl, and by that point most of the characters I liked were already in the game. With the exception of Rosalina, who I supported very casually, I don't think I really was all that interested in newcomers. This is the first smash cycle where I've very actively supported characters that I love. Really, they are newer characters like Isabelle, Bandana Dee, and InklingThat said, the problem is most of the characters I love tend to not make it into Smash Bros...
AN EPIC MICKEY MOVESET???King Mickey?
That'd make no sense whatsoever.
Regular Mickey Mouse?
Holy **** that'd be big.
Like, if I had to choose between Goku or Mickey Mouse, I'd easily choose Mickey. Seeing him square off against Mario would be legendary.
Would much rather have non-KH Mickey.Fun question? How would you guys react to King Mickey getting into Smash instead of Sora because Disney demanded it so sales could increase having one of the most iconic cartoon mascots starring in a game with one of the most iconic gaming mascots.
Also Geno being an Assist Trophy?
MFW that happensFun question? How would you guys react to King Mickey getting into Smash instead of Sora because Disney demanded it so sales could increase having one of the most iconic cartoon mascots starring in a game with one of the most iconic gaming mascots.
Also Geno being an Assist Trophy?
Which is why I went more in depth than "considered for smash!!11!!!" by actually quoting the guy, and putting qualifiers on "considered".Ding ding ding! We have a winner!
Yes, but it would never happen. Not realistically.I would personally imagine there being lots of salt among the Sora fans. It wouldn't be pretty that's for certain...
Worst Smash trends that just won't die:
- "Characters get in to represent arbitrary fan parameters"
- "Characters can't get in unless I think they have moveset potential"
- Looking back on newcomer reveals and explaining why a character literally no one expected made a lot of sense and they weren't actually unexpected
- Doing mental gymnastics to try to justify a character inclusion of a game that has the same merits as a game or character yet to be represented
- "3rd Party characters need to have legacy"
- Using the word "deserving" and its variants
I don't know it seems like something Disney would do and take advantage of. Most iconic cartoon mascot in a game with most iconic video game mascot. Too big to pass out on.Yes, but it would never happen. Not realistically.
Mickey is weirdly better IMO than either Sora or Goku. He's at least the biggest mascot in the world with genuine top tier star power. If we have to have a non-videogame character, Mickey is a decent choice.Fun question? How would you guys react to King Mickey getting into Smash instead of Sora because Disney demanded it so sales could increase having one of the most iconic cartoon mascots starring in a game with one of the most iconic gaming mascots.
Also Geno being an Assist Trophy?
*ahem*I don't know it seems like something Disney would do and take advantage of. Most iconic cartoon mascot in a game with most iconic video game mascot. Too big to pass out on.
Remember Golbat and Mew's weird Japanese designs? The good old creepypasta material.*sigh* What could have been...
We could have gotten an evolution for Farfetch'd.
Mickey Mouse yes.*ahem*
RULE #1: VIDEO GAME CHARACTERS ONLY
thanks for your time
But Sakurai wouldn'tReally though I can personally see Disney doing that. It's not too far-fetched for them to do such a thing like that. I mean were talking big money there. Sales would ten fold due to the most iconic cartoon mascot starring in a game with the most iconic video game mascot. It'd be legendary.
Even if it isn't the actual canon Mickey but still technically the same never the less.
Would Disney be up for it? possibly. But smash is about Video games and Video games only.I don't know it seems like something Disney would do and take advantage of. Most iconic cartoon mascot in a game with most iconic video game mascot. Too big to pass out on.
Amen. If for some reason Skull Kid doesn't make it in as a playable character, and if there is ever another ballot I am voting for him regardless of status. I learned my lessonGuys it's pretty simple… we must want a character because we love the character. Sakurai is adding characters we love. There are no other rules to determine why we are getting what we've gotten on Ultimate. So let's not make the mistakes all over again of assuming under what rule his choices of newcomers are based on.
at what time does that happen again? I forgot…
