Official Smash Ultimate Discussion

Almost one month has passed since release. In retrospect....

  • This is by far the best Smash ever. Like, I don't even know how they will top this.

  • Pretty freakin' good; I have a few qualms over things like internet play, balancing issues, etc.

  • It's ok, but [insert Smash game here] is better.

  • I'd rather play Parcheesi.

Actually he we be a Game Boy Advance rep along with :ultroy::ultzss::ultlucas:

The DS games were actually ports.
Yes, but not all of them were ports, and to my knowledge the GBA games were never released outside of Japan.

I don't care enough to look that up though. Going off memory here.

I don't know it seems like something Disney would do and take advantage of. Most iconic cartoon mascot in a game with most iconic video game mascot. Too big to pass out on.
There's also King Features' Popeye. Yes, I know he started out as (and still is) a comic character, but he's largely known for his cartoons, and he might become THE big contender for non-game character in Smash, even if it'll be years off from now before he's public-domain around the whole world.

Even in the absurdly unlikely event Disney wanted that, Nintendo would veto it. Mickey Mouse is not only not a video game character, but more problematic is that he's a way bigger cultural icon than anyone else in Smash including someone like Mario or honestly including "every other character put together and it's not close". Nintendo won't be having their own characters ultimately play second fiddle in a game that's a celebration of Nintendo's own history.

A few daily reminders:
-Shantae, Black Shadow and Geno are shoo-in
-Isaac and Skull Kid have a 50/50 chance of making it in
-Rayman's inclusion in Brawlhalla lowers his chances at being playable in Smash
-
your most wanted won't be in

Mickey is honestly more iconic to be honest. Popeye is up there but not as much as him. I recall he's also only Public Domain in Europe.

*ahem*

RULE #1: VIDEO GAME CHARACTERS ONLY

thanks for your time
This is the one true rule I believe Sakurai will uphold through and through.
Smash is all about celebrating gaming history. Albeit with a hard focus on Nintendo gaming history, but the history of iconic gaming legends none the less.

Disney is a monster of a corporation. Passing up a few thousand dollars is no big deal for them.

Nintendo is gonna have to be the one to get the ball rolling if they want Mickey in Smash.

We're really discussing Mickey Mouse and Popeye... I'm off to bed.
Ladies and gentlemen, it's time for the annual-
NON-VIDEO GAME CHARACTERS IN A FIGHTING GAME ABOUT VIDEO GAMES DISCUSSION!
Come on, Sakurai could make an exception for Mickey to get in, he's not only a cartoon icon, he's also iconic to humanity.

Living capitalism is kinda sad to be iconic, ngl. If you want a Disney gaming icon, go to ToonTown Online or something.

Is it wrong that I just want the complete roster to use as a desktop background?

.......god, I remember sneaking into my high-school's computer lab and printing out Brawl's Roster in like, 480p on printer paper and hanging that **** up in my room for a good few months until the ink began to run.

Doesn't feel like it's been that long.

This one wouldn't have happened if she literally hadn't become a Nintendo exclusive. She's basically a first party.

So I ask again, where's the evidence to the contrary?
Just because she's a "Nintendo exclusive" doesn't make her a non-third party as long as she's owned by a separate company. Is Travis Touchdown a third party? Is [guy from MadWorld] a third party? they're not.

But you're acting like she got in for any reason OTHER then the fact that she became a Nintendo exclusive.

And she didn't.

She literally got in by becoming Nintendo exclusive.

And this is coming from someone that LOVES Bayo's inclusion (hell I voted for her) but if the Bayo 2 thing hadn't happened she'd never had gotten in.

You can't make that excuse for any third party that was a very specific scenario.
