It was probably pretty easy and cheap to obtain her, and allegedly Nintendo preemptively added her thinking she'd do better on the ballot than she actually did. That's what the K. Rool leaker said, and it seems pretty believable. Advertising may have played a part too.

That was debunked. It's been a while, but I think it was found out they had old footage, faked accounts to ask for certain footage, and then things went to hell.

I would definitely put Bugs Bunny in the S-tier. We're kind of underestimating the value of Loony Toons if we're putting him under Pikachu.

He's the Pepsi to Mickey's Coke.

Can move him to A+, but I feel his personal iconicness, compared to loony toons as a whole, is too low to put him together with Superman.

fighting game characters in this game do excite a large number of people outside this board for sure.

There are not many fighting game characters that would excite me... except for the ones I grew up with.

That would be characters from Street Fighter II (any version), Mortal Kombat (original trilogy), Killer Instinct (Nintendo era), and Fatal Fury (at least the ones that were on the SNES).

If I were being very selective, I would choose these characters:

• Ryu + Ken (Echo)
• Chun-Li
• Scorpion + Sub-Zero (Echo with different Special Moves)
• Fulgore
• Terry Bogard

Super Mario Maker did release on September 11th 2015, so I definitely wouldn't rule this out solely because of it being on September 11th.

Topic: Should Dragon Quest XI be a huge success in the West (The game came out today), in the scenario a Dragon Quest character gets chosen for Smash for DLC content, which protagonist do you think will get in? Erdrick or the Hero of DQ11. Sakurai seems to put protagonist that are more well known in the West like Cloud and Lloyd (As a Mii costume), so the DQ11 hero might take priority, but DQ3's importance in gaming history might make Sakurai choose Erdrick over DQ11. What do you guys think?

I have a feeling it would be Erdrick, despite the newness potential of 11's protag. Apparently III in particular was absolutely huge in japan. I think Erdrick would basically be the cloud of the series and get in anyway.

Also Switch port of XI has still been MIA for a while now, I thought it would come sooner, I have XI installed on my ps4 and i'm just waiting for some time to play it, really been waiting for this.

Choosing between Geno or DQ rep hurts my soul. Hopefully by the end of the game's life we get both

It'd be such a Sakurai move to make a character called "Hero" and have all the skins be the different Dragon Quest heroes. Or the character is Erdrick, but he's like Bowser Jr. in that each alt is a different Dragon Quest hero.

I politely disagree. Bugs Bunny isn't so much a part of Loony Toons as the face of Loony Toons, in the same way that Mickey is the face of the characters surrounding him (Goofy, Donald, Pluto, etc.) that are also widely known. Bugs Bunny needs only a silhouette for most anyone in the modern world to know who he is, in similar fashion to Mickey.

Superman is a different kind of recognizable, in that he embodies the entire superhero genre. People know who Superman is because they know who superheroes are, and he's the default one. I would still put Bugs above him in "the only one who actually comes close to Mickey" territory, just above Supes and Mario.

I suspect the ballot saw the bulk of its traffic right after it launched, as these things typically do, so the final results probably wouldn't have deviated too much from the initial window.

The point is, save for maybe two exceptions being Bayo and I guess Richter who have reasoning for their inclusion obvious to anyone which side stepped being iconic (and for the case of Richter, apparently he's more iconic than Simon in Japan), there are non.

And while that's all I can think of right now, there's no doubt that it's a very influential and iconic name. I'd say he's up there with the Mickey, Bugs, and Spongebob as the Big Four of cartoons.

Isaac has a sword, and if a Smash character has a sword, I'll try to get at least competent with them. I haven't been disappointed yet by any sword newcomer. Smash 4 Meta Knight is the only sword wielding veteran to disappoint me so far.

I'll deny the possibility, though I wouldn't be against it if some alternate universe slammed into ours and Goku was announced. I think the only rule really is "Characters must originate from a video game". Everything else is fair game. Though if Nintendo wanted Sakurai to make another Smash after Ultimate--I would much rather them keep Ultimate going through DLC. But if he had to make another game, my hope would be a spin-off series alongside Ultimate's continued release that would allow those weird possibilities to happen. Wouldn't be "Super Smash Bros" but it would be Smash something.

I just don't want Ultimate to ever go away. And really, Sakurai has kind of set it up to where any Smash successor really couldn't succeed after Ultimate without going into a completely different direction.
