SAKURAII!!!! DON'T DO IT!!!!!Lemme go tell Sakurai to shoot his dog.
This would probably give us a pretty good idea.Iconic Tier list would be something like this I feel.
SS tier: Mickey
S tier: Superman
A tier: Mario, Pikachu, Batman, Spiderman, James Bond, Sherlock Holmes.
A-: Bugs Bunny
It was probably pretty easy and cheap to obtain her, and allegedly Nintendo preemptively added her thinking she'd do better on the ballot than she actually did. That's what the K. Rool leaker said, and it seems pretty believable. Advertising may have played a part too.I'll never quite understand why Bayo was in if she wasn't the Ballot pick...
Advertising? I dunno.
Oh, my dude, that was like 300 pages ago. The guy didn’t steal anything. He just got some footage at an event and tried to claim it was from a demo he stole This was proven to be fake and that the dude lied. Here you go: https://twitter.com/alpharadtv/status/1034607649587912709 It's somewhat old news, but I just found out about and didn't see all that much discussion here.
That was debunked. It's been a while, but I think it was found out they had old footage, faked accounts to ask for certain footage, and then things went to hell. Here you go: https://twitter.com/alpharadtv/status/1034607649587912709 It's somewhat old news, but I just found out about and didn't see all that much discussion here.
Sorry, this got debunked a few days ago. They posted some other pic where you could see they were just stood at a demo stand at some con/store.Here you go: https://twitter.com/alpharadtv/status/1034607649587912709 It's somewhat old news, but I just found out about and didn't see all that much discussion here.
Ah. Thanks for clarifying that.Oh, my dude, that was like 300 pages ago. The guy didn’t steal anything. He just got some footage at an event and tried to claim it was from a demo he stile. This was proven to be fake be fake.
What exactly is Bayonetta an icon of, then? Her big brother Dante is already leading her genre. If your factual evidence is Bayonetta then its akin to that of a personal theory :v
Can move him to A+, but I feel his personal iconicness, compared to loony toons as a whole, is too low to put him together with Superman.I would definitely put Bugs Bunny in the S-tier. We're kind of underestimating the value of Loony Toons if we're putting him under Pikachu.
He's the Pepsi to Mickey's Coke.
My argument is that the context to Bayonetta's inclusion is actually important to understanding how she was even considered in the first place. What exactly is Bayonetta an icon of, then? Her big brother Dante is already leading her genre.
You asked for someone who wasn't an icon. I gave you one.My argument is that the context to Bayonetta's inclusion is actually important to understanding how she was even considered in the first place.
Your argument is **** CONTEXT I WANT MY OBSCURE SEGA CHARACTERS NOW
Could also be possible she was chosen based on very early ballot results and not necessarily any final numbers, hence why she was seemingly being made before the ballot was overIt was probably pretty easy and cheap to obtain her, and allegedly Nintendo preemptively added her thinking she'd do better on the ballot than she actually did. There are not many fighting game characters that would excite me... except for the ones I grew up with.fighting game characters in this game do excite a large number of people outside this board for sure.
Super Mario Maker did release on September 11th 2015, so I definitely wouldn't rule this out solely because of it being on September 11th.
Yeah, that's what I expected. Such an odd choice though. It was probably pretty easy and cheap to obtain her, and allegedly Nintendo preemptively added her thinking she'd do better on the ballot than she actually did. >9/11
I have a feeling it would be Erdrick, despite the newness potential of 11's protag. Apparently III in particular was absolutely huge in japan. I think Erdrick would basically be the cloud of the series and get in anyway.Topic: Should Dragon Quest XI be a huge success in the West (The game came out today), in the scenario a Dragon Quest character gets chosen for Smash for DLC content, which protagonist do you think will get in? Erdrick or the Hero of DQ11. Sakurai seems to put protagonist that are more well known in the West like Cloud and Lloyd (As a Mii costume), so the DQ11 hero might take priority, but DQ3's importance in gaming history might make Sakurai choose Erdrick over DQ11. What do you guys think?
Yes, and?>9/11
wow
Because it happened like a week ago, so all discussion of it is buried under hundreds of pages. Here you go: https://twitter.com/alpharadtv/status/1034607649587912709 It's somewhat old news, but I just found out about and didn't see all that much discussion here.
It'd be such a Sakurai move to make a character called "Hero" and have all the skins be the different Dragon Quest heroes. Or the character is Erdrick, but he's like Bowser Jr. in that each alt is a different Dragon Quest hero.Topic: Should Dragon Quest XI be a huge success in the West (The game came out today), in the scenario a Dragon Quest character gets chosen for Smash for DLC content, which protagonist do you think will get in? Eh, Venom's not really that iconic. If you guys are going to put in Superman then don't forget Marvel's biggest boy
I politely disagree. Bugs Bunny isn't so much a part of Loony Toons as the face of Loony Toons, in the same way that Mickey is the face of the characters surrounding him (Goofy, Donald, Pluto, etc.) that are also widely known. Bugs Bunny needs only a silhouette for most anyone in the modern world to know who he is, in similar fashion to Mickey. Can move him to A+, but I feel his personal iconicness, compared to loony toons as a whole, is too low to put him together with Superman.
I suspect the ballot saw the bulk of its traffic right after it launched, as these things typically do, so the final results probably wouldn't have deviated too much from the initial window.Could also be possible she was chosen based on very early ballot results and not necessarily any final numbers, hence why she was seemingly being made before the ballot was over
When he finally adds Goku he'll throw everyone for a loop by adding Kid Goku insteadI'm convinced Sakurai isn't even following rules anymore, so while I don't think Goku is likely, I won't deny the possibility.
it's only a prank manYes, and?

Alright, how about this. Give me a smaller third party that ISN'T exclusive to Nintendo that actually got in? The point is, save for maybe two exceptions being Bayo and I guess Richter who have reasoning for their inclusion obvious to anyone which side stepped being iconic (and for the case of Richter, apparently he's more iconic than Simon in Japan), there are non.You asked for someone who wasn't an icon. I gave you one.
I never wanted Bayonetta though, I don't play her games.
Nah, you're right.Eh, Venom's not really that iconic.
Never forgetti>9/11
wow
>give me what I asked except for something that would prove me wrongAlright, how about this. Give me a smaller third party that ISN'T exclusive to Nintendo that actually got in? Isaac has a sword, and if a Smash character has a sword, I'll try to get at least competent with them. I haven't been disappointed yet by any sword newcomer. Smash 4 Meta Knight is the only sword wielding veteran to disappoint me so far.Alright here’s a game.
Out of these possible newcomers:
-Geno
-Issac
-Isabelle
-Bandana Dee
-Shadow
-Rayman
-Banjo
-Incinaroar
Who do you think you’ll end up maining regardless if you supported them or not?
I doubt Nintendo, a Japanese company, would really care about an American tragedy that happened nearly two decades ago.>9/11
wow
I repeat, if your argument about why just any 3rd party can make is ****ing Bayonetta, the character who got saved by nintendo, then its a horrible, horrible argument.>give me what I asked except for something that would prove me wrong
Come on, man. How low do you have to go?
I was more so saying that the maintenance could point towards there being a Nintendo Direct on that day not that it was "9/11 woah remember that guys" kekYes, and?
As an American myself, life goes on regardless of the day.
What do you mean? You took the obvious answer away. Does it magically not count? At least it's not as bad as "SHE'S ONLY IN BECAUSE SHE'S EXCLUSIVE!". Don't make these arbitrary restrictions. If you lose, you lose man.I repeat, if your argument about why just any 3rd party can make is ****ing Bayonetta, the character who got saved by nintendo, then its a horrible, horrible argument.
I agree. And you know, Square is rumored to get a new character...*Looks back a number of pages*j
*Sees people saying the N64 era needing more reps*
Meanwhile the DS era is weeping in a corner...
I'll deny the possibility, though I wouldn't be against it if some alternate universe slammed into ours and Goku was announced. I think the only rule really is "Characters must originate from a video game". Everything else is fair game. Though if Nintendo wanted Sakurai to make another Smash after Ultimate--I would much rather them keep Ultimate going through DLC. But if he had to make another game, my hope would be a spin-off series alongside Ultimate's continued release that would allow those weird possibilities to happen. Wouldn't be "Super Smash Bros" but it would be Smash something.I'm convinced Sakurai isn't even following rules anymore, so while I don't think Goku is likely, I won't deny the possibility.
