People played Melee for years for that reason. You can stick with Ultimate if you care about who's still in over what's new, but we don't need Ultimate 1.01.

Well, it wouldn't be a "loss" of characters, since it's a whole new fighting game and not Smash Bros.

i think people are getting carried away with echoes honestly. i truly dont get how anyone could advocate for yet another FE echo. FE moveset being duplicated over and over is not a good look. people talk about proper representation in smash for franchises and characters whent hey discuss dark samus and shadow but FE as a series ahs the appearance in smash that its characters and weapons dont matter because thier all the same sword using similar hairstyle character just duplicated for years.

i dont think smash has done a very good job with certain franchises and FE is at the top if the list. making clones of clones is dumb imo. and while i get Lucina being a clone as it fits her character and story the others dont and black knight being discussed now as a ful like clone is honestly my breaking point. im not an FE fan but i do feel for them on this.

Just because all the Fire Emblem characters look identical to a non-fan like you doesn't mean that there aren't plenty of fans who have a particular attachment to one of those specific faces; many FE fans started on Awakening and never touched Marth or Roy's games so having the option to play as Chrom and Lucina is very important to them.

As for the Black Knight, speaking as someone who started with Ike's games, I want BK in because he's cool as ****ing hell and was a very memorable antagonist. I don't care that he's an echo because firstly he wouldn't have a shot at being playable otherwise, secondly because Ike's already a slow, heavy character in Smash so BK already fits well as a echo, Ike's Up-B and Side-B notwithstanding, and thirdly because I care about BK for far more reasons than moveset potential.

I like how even as Link shrinks back to normal, the Remote Bombs stay the same large size until he picks it up. What would happen if he tries to detonate it? Obviously, this would probably never happen under the competitive ruleset, but still.

List bosses you want for Spirits mode (assuming that's where you fight Dracula and Rathalos)

In my mind, bosses may be exclusive to certain characters for their own series or they're just randomized for funsies. Let's get this started.
King Bob-Omb

This dude's probably one of the most iconic Mario bosses period. He's a durable boi and has numerous of one of the strongest items in the game at his disposal. I think he'd be very powerful. Maybe there's a gimmick where you have to learn how to grab items by airdodging to throw bombs back at him to make him vulnerable, and I think that'd be a very useful fight to teach players some of the more advanced techniques that have been around since Melee.

He's already a boss on Gaur Plains. I think he's such a big character in the game before the spoilerfest begins that he could get an upgrade to something more advanced. The stage for Rathalos and Gaur Plains have similar textures as I've seen it, so it could be an easy build for the stage itself. I'd rather have Sword Valley, but if it's easier and faster, then that'll probably take priority.

It would probably act like a big bomb, or maybe the same thing with the Rosalina Yoshi glitch in Smash 4 that was patched where the damage goes to normal but the hitbox is big.

I am content with the idea of Akuma being a fighter in Smash Ultimate. His Final Smash would easily be the Shun Goku Satsu, which would instantly KO anyone whose current damage goes over 100% (much like the danger zones and Bayonetta's Infernal Climax). If it doesn't KO, the targets would be put in a prone state instead.

Also, the idea of Akuma being a fighter would make sense, especially considering that one of Ryu's images from the Smash Wii U congratulations screen actually references Akuma and the Shun Goku Satsu.

Lemme close with this. I'm a little sick of how every single veteran is held so holy. Gothitelle is someone that we're mostly saying would be a completely random choice, yet if she actually makes the roster, she's now a sacred part of Smash and you're not supposed to be against her. Yes, every character has fans, but you can say the same exact thing about everyone who's never been in Smash.

I know what you mean.

Try convincing someone that Duck Hunt Dog should be in Smash before August 2014. Try convincing people that for 12 years.

And suddenly, people are using my “poor” reasons to justify Duck Hunt Dog’s inclusion in the Smash roster.

I spent 12 years trying to convince people to support Duck Hunt Dog for Smash. Sakurai does his magic and poof, they are convinced.

Like what? So people didn’t like the idea of Duck Hunt Dog and Duck teaming up like Banjo-Kazooie and breaking the fourth wall with the person with the NES Zapper when I suggested them? And suddenly they liked those ideas when Sakurai made Duck Hunt Dog like that?

Argh... I’m feeling frustrated about Toad/Captain Toad and Meowth/Team Rocket but I still hope that one day people will treat them as “sacred” parts of Smash like they do with Duck Hunt Dog.
