I noticed it too. Fire Emblem seems to have an exclusive one called "Journey of Swords", which may be an in-joke about all these anime swordsman complaints people like to nag about.

It seems like they're mixing Classic mode with Events. And it's character specific, probably to make them equal.

I'm curious to see what my boi's Classic mode will look like

I realized something.

It’s something I hinted at in the Elma thread, but Sakurai wants to reveal every character before release because he doesn’t want them to be leaked.

He knows that if he has secret characters, the weakest secured period, around 1-2 months before release, is when most BIG leaks ends up leaking the secret characters in the first place, rendering them pointless to keep hidden without reveal. So he’s doing this to make sure that every character gets a proper reaction/shock when they’re first shown.

I doubt classic mode is taking events. What we've seen is pretty tame thus far, if we're even right about it.

While I can't argue with his leaks very much, I really don't agree with his predictions. Not that I care for Incineroar, but I consider him as one of the top candidates. I am not counting out Grassbirb like everyone else seems to have though.

The whole mixing classic and events thing can't work. Events are standalone, if you allowed them to be played through Classic in a normal playthrough, why have events in the first place? They're meant to be played in Event mode, not Classic mode.

Not really, but either way neither Marin nor Onox did get as much fan support as Skull Kid anyway. Also, there's the 3DS remake of MM to consider, if that even influences anything.

Quite low, about 30%. That is, assuming the site makers still have no idea how to stall.

This is interesting as the newcomers haven't totally been used for promotion.

K. Rool is the obvious one. If we're looking at promoting games, we should have got Dixie instead. Unless we're getting another DKC game with K Rool in the next year.

Ridley and Dark Samus would be for Prime 4, but we don't even know when that's coming out. I guess it could be next year?

Inklings are based on Splatoon 1, and Splatoon 2 will have been out for 18 months by SSBU launch. Don't know if it needs promotion.

Castlevania hasn't been on Nintendo since 2009 WiiWare, so unless we're getting a new Castlevania in the next year seems weird.

Even the idea of Skull Kid is weird under this argument because he wasn't in BotW and a new Zelda game can't possibly be coming out next year given how recently BotW finished development.

So I'm confused here how he thinks this has to do with promotion...

For the record, I was contemplating a third Bandai Namco rep too, but I wasnt sure if I shoulda gone with Heihachi or KOS-MOS. eh it's of no consequence now and if Heihachi is announced for the base roster (which I have a feeling he will be) i'll just update the dream roster accordingly

and with that i'm off to chill and myabe make more progress in Xenoblade X, later dudes

I'm like 50% convinced on a Rhythm Heaven character now actually. I know that seems like a lot, but that does seem super intentional in the trailer. I'll be super happy if it's true. I'll not be fully content with the roster without at least 2 newly rep'd Nintendo franchises. I'd rather Golden Sun, Sin and Punishment, or Fatal Frame (which are all still possible), but will still be ecstatic for RH.

HW focused mainly on console games, though, with handheld content coming late as DLC and Deluxe/Legends.
Hyrule Warriors 2 might very well have a playable Vaati and Onox.

Well, I'm pretty late to all of this but I wanted to give my thoughts and, I just don't know where to start.

Firstly, Simon and Richter wow. Majority of the people knew about Simon, but Richter was a very nice surprise. I've never played Castlevania but their moveset looks so nice. Also rip Luigi, he joined his brother and Megaman in the deceased.

Then we got all these new features and, I just love them all. I freaking love how we have Meter Final Smashes now, basically Supers from Traditional fighting games and since they're weaker, it actually makes them more fair please make them legal.

103 STAGES AND OVER 800 SOUNDTRACKS. SAKURAI YOU MADLAD. I just can't with this.

Assist deconfirms. Rip Ashley, Zero, and Shovel Knight fans. You have my sympathies. But my top two haven't been deconfirmed so there's still hope! Maybe...

New modes. I love it. Squad Strike is basically the only thing appealing about Smash Tour and now that it's back as it's own thing, it's perfect. Local Tournaments are nice too. Great additions.

Classic Mode is back to normal, thank god. I was hoping they'd at least keep the branching paths from 3ds but this is fine. Anything is better than what we got in Smash 4.

Monster Hunter boss? Welly well now, and no stage to go along with it. I wonder if this means anything

Menu layout is looking quite nice this time and OwO What's This. Blurred out mode. Apparently it's called Spirits and I'm guessing we'll find out what it is when we get another Smash direct. My money's on Story Mode just because that Monster Hunter boss not having it's own stage. Bosses have never occurred anywhere else.

Chrom and D Samus Echoes. Yessssss. Chrom finally got his day and kinda completed turned what my idea of an echo fighter is. He's Roy's Echo apparently but has Ike's up B? So they can have different moves? Idk, I really want to see the differences between them now. But with Richter killing the debate over whether or not third parties could have multiple characters from the same series and Chrom showcasing that Echoes can have different moves, Shadow is seeming even more likely now. Also Dixie can be an Echo whilst still using her hair, this really does open up a lot of possibilities.

Alright, time for the big one. King K. Rool. I'll admit, just like how I was with Ridley, I was a naysayer but Sakurai once again proved me wrong and I congratulate all of his fans for having their favorite character get in Smash. Y'all deserve it guys and with the intro to his trailer, it basically confirms that there is a Hero vs Villain theme going on with this game, which if my story mode prediction is correct, I could see them incorporating that into the story. So I feel like we'll definitely be seeing Villains from the remaining OG 12 to be added later on down the line.

I just can't stop thanking Sakurai enough for all he's done for us. Adding in two fan favorite characters back to back, throwing Echoes left and right to give those characters' fans a nod. He's amazing at what he does, and that is giving us an amazing game, time after time. Brawl is probably my favorite game of all time and the way Ultimate is shaping up, it's looking to surpass that, easily. It's stuff like this that makes me happy to be a Smash fan and to experience it with all of you, the community. My original predictions list was that there'd be 8 more newcomers after the initial E3 reveal, 5 unique, 3 Echo. We've already hit the 3 echo quota and Sakurai said to expect even more. I just don't know what to think anymore.

tldr; This game will truly be Ultimate.
