Metal Sonic is pretty much the original well-known counterpart to Sonic. Silver Sonic existed before him, but he's not as well-known.

I like Metal Sonic.

Problem being that it might clash too much with Sonic visually. I don't personally think so, but I could see it as a reason for exclusion. Which is unfortunate, as I do like the idea of Metal Sonic more than Shadow.

Apparently, his hair is brown on the Japanese boxart for Castlevania but is red in the instruction manual. It became blonde for Castlevania II, and the red hair was used for the Chronicles redesign because they wanted to, I guess.

I don't know anything about Simon, and I want that design because he has a beard. If by some miracle we got Isaac, I'd want the Dark Dawn design for the same reason.

I remember making a moveset where she could switch hitboxes between a sword & lance, with Pegasus as Up-Special (FE3 had the dismount gimmick).


I'd like to imagine that he's out there training Somewhere, waiting for the chance to Show everyone why he's the Strongest.

For real tho, I think it's a combination of him being popular, tho enough to be a character, and them alreading having asset with the trophy for him to make a Mii Costume. (tho, I think the costume look a bit more detailled than the trophy? Not sure on that one)

Don't know if this has been talked about before, but I've been interested in this myself, so I thought I'd ask. If Simon Belmont did get in Smash, which design do you think we'd see him in? What design would you prefer to see him in?

I think we'd see the Classic design, though I'd prefer his Chronicles design. Lords of Shadow would be alright, but Judgement just looks awful.

I hope not the classic one honestly. For some reason, it just looks weird to me, but I'm probably the only one.

Tails is out because he's in the background on a stage, Eggman isn't exciting anymore with Bowser Jr. having his hypothetical playstyle, and Shadow may still be an AT.

Still, is Blaze that close to being prioritized? I've never thought of her as a highly important or popular character, but I'm not into Sonic at all. I'd think there'd be at least a few more before her tbh.

Ironically, 2.06 is close to what Awakening sold, and people often regard that game as a huge success.

Unless, Awakening should somehow be considered a flop?

Awakening is also a niche strategy game on a console that wasn't doing well at all at the time. As it stands though, shadow did okay, it's numbers are slightly less than heroes, which was already worse than the adventure games.

She is a popular character and have appeared in a number of games, including some that stars her with Sonic

I'd say asides from Sonic himself. She's probably the most closely tied to Nintendo as her debut games and series were playable on a Nintendo system only.

I’d imagine it being kinda like what the cat suits in Super Mario 3D World do, with the Mii walking on all fours and slashing with claws. (Remember that the Miis do, in fact, do that in that game via the ghost replays and it looks pretty silly, ahaha)

Anyway, I wouldn’t mind another Mii class personally

They'd probably go for Classic but I'd rather see chronicles, ideally we'd have costumes for each.

The lords of shadow look was forgettable and he wasn't even the main character in that game so there's not much reason to go with that, not sure what they were thinking with the gay stripper look though

I believe that if there was going to be another Mii Fighter class, it would be a Mage who uses a variety of magic attacks.

Then they would cover the four basic categories of Smash.

Perhaps but she still has a unique moveset that could catch Sakurai's eye and she's been in every spinoff so it's a start. She could be more important, if SEGA could just decide what they want to do with Sonic and the Sonic world as a whole.

Bottom right please. I want Richter Belmont as an alt because lorewise he's the strongest Belmont.

That said, could be cute, but he isn’t notable enough to have more character representation than he already has in Pac’s moveset. Maybe a stage based on his game could be interesting, though.

Goku's more of an American thing, see Mexico. That being said, Saint Seiya for Smash to appease Europeans

Blaze is literally the best ''I'm Sonic in a way" character they've invented in the Sonic games.

Shadow is too ''kool" with a k. He reminds me of Venom and Gambit in that they're.....alright, but they're really not all that special beyond a cool concept trying to mimic someone that came before them.

We don't even talk about Silver.

Really her only competition is Mighty. I really do like Mighty and Ray.

Mighty to me as well as Ray are the best 'Rival Characters' to the Sonic Tails duo.

Like ya take Sonic right, what is he?

Now when you make a rival character it makes sense "at least to me" to take that original concept and mix it up.

Instead of doing the easy thing of making another hedgehog you ask

Okay now, how can we make them engaging in the game?

Well, what can Sonic not do?

He's not strong, he can't 'fly' and spike traps hurt him.

Let's give these other characters those things then.

and bam you have two characters in Knuckles and Mighty that are similar but play differently than Sonic.

(Mighty was the prototype for Sonic so he came first but you get me whatever)

Now I like Blaze only because she's independent and isn't dependant on Sonic like... Amy.

Now as far as the concept goes when applied to Sonic

Metal is a direct opposition to everything that is.

He is a being made by industry, a being of robotics, not nature, he is a being without an 'attitude' and can be better than Sonic given the tools.

He stands for the empire of Eggman or the empire of himself in some cases,

Shadow is 2000s Sonic

Instead of charming but obnoxious 90s attitude and fun he has 2000s angst all the worst parts.

Instead of gameplay elements that support the series his claim to infamy is the use of guns and vehicles two this that have been shown not to work in this series for over 10 years at the point (Eggman uses both vehicles and all orgies of artillery and gets dunked on every time by a rodent) so what's even good about him?

I'm partial to his Chronicles design but I'd be fine with his Lords of Shadow one as well. The other two are just, blegh. I don't really see the Lords of Shadow on as particularly likely as the LoS games are not only considered non-canon but are also made by an American developer and for some reason that might matter.

We had to sacrifice Ganondorf's beard in order to regain Snake's beard. (Which also means we get Kirby beard as a bonus).

Classic is my favorite, but that Lords of Shadow looks badass af. I'd expect the classic, though - it's the most recognizable.

Then again, I do support a different blond barbarian-looking dude, so if he got in, then Simon could take one of his redhead outfits. Still think the concept of Simon and Dovahkiin trekking together through Potema's Catacombs would be beyond awesome.

I'm not too sure about Mappy, not least of which is that Pac-Man stole his gimmick (trampolines) for a recovery. (Just like Villager did to Balloon Fighter).

In terms of Namco Arcades, I'd say Dig-Dug or the lil' Drum mascot from Taiko are more likely.
