Here's the text to the Springman "leak" since it was originally taken down.

I know most of You will doubt this is real, but in Time You will know this to be true, so please hear Me out

On August 3rd at EVO, Nintendo will release a surprise Fighter announcement for Spring Man/Ribbon Girl in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate when the Nintendo booth opens. Spring Man/Ribbon Girl will work like Olimar/Alph or Bowser Jr. & the Koopalings. Their moves can be charged or automatic depending on how long you hold. the characters will play the exact same, the only difference is the appearance, Spring Man is the Standard & Ribbon Girl more like a costume though. They will be fully playable in the Super Smash Bros. Ultimate demo they have at the booth. I know this because of my Job which I will not disclose, because I intend to stay working there. it has to do with Nintendo, but is not directly connected to Super Smash Bros. Ultimate.

I suppose we are coming up to the point where those working at EVO would begin to catch wind of potential reveals. I'd say we ought to keep tabs on this one.

I don't want to beat one of the so called top 13 strongest trainers in the region with a Squirtle and a Pidgey. Tbh, Gym leaders should always have 6 Pokemon and it should be a requirement to have 6 mons before entering, as opposed to the backwards crap Go! is throwing our way. My way theoretically ruins Nuzlocke's, but a fix to that would be making Gym battles start a little later on a player's journey. Let them get their feet wet first. Make them actually have a team prepared and be able to stand on some ground as a Trainer who wants to take on the league.

Of course then the game "has pacing issues" and "breaks the Gen 1 mold" and wouldn't that just be awful.....ah well. I got Insurgence and Reborn so I'm happy with "Challenging Pokemon games" for now.

It really would have pacing issues though. Gym Leaders pretty much exist to be the "boss fights" of sorts. They're a gameplay function first and a story element second.

I'm not opposed to the formula getting broken up though. The thing is, I feel like S/M's set up already solved some of the issues you've had so far. They're just particularly powerful wild Pokemon that will be stronger than any of your individual mons at the time you face them, and you don't have to fight a Kahuna until you've made fairly decent progress in the game.

Spoiler: Elite Four

And they even had a couple Kahuna come back as elite four members to show you how powerful they really are. Not to mention US/UM's little fetch quest trial that has you fighting several Trial Captains really close to the end game.

And S/M does have some pretty decent challenges early game. Smeargle and Wishiwashi anyone? And with the whole S.O.S. mechanic combined with the fact that wild pokemon are generally at pretty high levels means that even a random encounter can turn out to be an unexpected threat.

Whatever they do with Gen 8, I hope they stick more to the Alola "league" structure than to the Kanto one.
