Agree that Marth sucks, disagree that Falco is easy to use while Fox is hard...
At what point does falco become hard? His tech skill is free, his attacks are so powerful and gay and decision making in combos is easy.

At top top top level I imagine he's probably quite hard, but he's so easy to get stuff out of across the spectrum of abilities.

'his tech skill is free' ????????

does this mean anybody can instantly learn the tech skill needed to play falco? If so then thats definitely not true.

It's a fact that falco is hard to play. You need consistant tech skill, his sheild pressure and combos require tricky timing, his recovery almost requires ledgetechs. I don't understand what part of playing falco is easy? He's a good character- I'm not saying he's bad, but he definitely needs a lot of work to get consistant with and even then you need to be very careful to stay out of trouble.

At lower ends of the ability spectrum he has one of the simplest and lamest techniques, SH laser.

I don't see what's tough about his shield pressure, you just have to know the situations.

Every character requires consistent tech skill, but I find myself failing falco's at a much reduced rate because the timings are more forgiving than fox's. From my perspective, that is why he is easy.

I do have a tendency to forget the difficulty that went into learning all the advanced techniques though, so this clearly influences my opinion.

I dunno about melee players but me and my crew are not really into those kind of things, from what I know it's just a bunch of people dressing up with little side events here and there...unless I can be enlightened on any particular events which will interests me then I won't be making an effort to go.

So what is done there?

I agree with robby tbh, providing you can do falco's basic tech and know basic shield pressure. Once you get past his basic tech being harder than other characters and look at falco's easy effective options/combo game, he's much easier to actually play at a low level in comparison to loads of others. you can combo half the cast really easily just by learning how to shine waveland lol.

All the falco tech you need to compete with at a low level isn't that difficult anyway. Wavedash, shl, ac aerials and pillaring (which is only slightly harder than regular shffls are, and falco's shffl is really easy). That's all stuff I learned to do way before my first tournament (except ac aerials because I didn't know what they were, but it's not like they're hard to do, especially with falco haha)

If you're going for more advanced tech though I agree, a lot of lower level players struggle with that+the fact that he gets gimped so badly means that reckless, slow players will get destroyed.

Surely once you have learnt his tech skill you have progressed far enough not to be low level considering how difficult it can be to learn some of the basic tech skill let alone falcos?

For me I basically learnt how to do tech skill with everyone once I felt how difficult it was to do with fox. I decided to learn everything basic with fox believing everyone else's would be much easier due to less demand and less punishment for mistakes which worked for me :)

Anyways the amount of falco mains in the community I can think of leads me to think he is quite difficult in comparison to others at low level. I mean what we have deathgazer & bishkin who are falco mains..... and I cannot think of any others.

Imo fox or marth. Just because I remember people who were clearly better than me still taking long to beat my fox and viceversa. And i think Marth just because low level play makes me think of wavedash fsmash and holding b.

Depends what you consider "low level", it's not like you suddenly learn falco's tech and suddenly say "wow I'm pretty good at this game, I'm at least mid level". I'm not a very technical player, I learnt all of falco's tech before my first tournament and I was even worse than "low level", I just think a lot of people grossly overrate how hard it is to do stuff like wavedashing/pillaring and end up prioritising it over how easy it is to actually play solidly with a character. I think falco's at least easier to play than fox is at a lower level because so many people have trouble dealing with SHL lol.

I can see marth, at a low level he can just swing his sword and **** people, but the problem is when people get better that doesn't really work lol :x

LJ mains falco now, Yeniths is switching falco (I think), X1-12 is a falco main, Jam (who still plays a bit) mains falco, the mighty ddiz of course.

fair play although i kinda ment people who i know started as falco and still are falco therefore made an improvement by entirely being falco.
LJ + Yeniths i know were fox before so they knew the tech skill already really and i have no clue who the other people are :)

well, personally i do the whole dressy uppy thing and i feel fabulous

but during the course of satrday and sunday (they have friday too, but friday sucks) they show lots of exclusive previews of upcoming games, movies, etc. and have playable versions of upcoming games too, last time i spent a while playing a bit of mvc3 demo. i didnt enjoy it much then because they were still fixing things. i suppsoe in a sense its a bit like a mini e3
it is mainly anime though, they have a big ol wrestling ring on the side and that goes down, kids favourite that is XD. also last time tehre was this thing akin to robot wars, but not quite as big

its got a lot of thing, its certainly crowded as **** inside the hall though, sunday is a bit quieter

or just play marth...

And yeah that's cool man, craving some matches :( Played nothing but rubbish players the last couple of days barring HS on practice with Tommy.

At least I got BR on thursday to test call energy I guess

Anyone who disagrees, watch my Ganon. I miss like half my l-cancels, yet still place alright.

Dujuan - I forgot this was the 3 day weekend... small possibility I might be in Devon. Will confirm shortly though... looking forward to the MM.

Prof, I dunno if my copy of melee is at your friends, or with Lewis, but if you have it then please bring it. Thanks

Lies, stop maintaining this, your tech skill is accurate when it needs to be, and only sometimes bad. But on the whole it is what I would call consistent.

that's because your ganon is the embodiment of sexiness. :)

Are you going on Sunday, and will there be a melee setup like last time? Oh yeah, I'm back btw, But my phone is broken so I can't make calls, I can only receive them.
I don't think I'm going this year, I'll tell you if I do though.
