I don't think I mind Rare content in Smash on paper, but I don't like Rare being being held on a higher pedistal than other long-gone partner devs. It doesn't really make sense to me that Rare content is seen as a priority but - say - pre-GTA DMA Design content isn't, you know? I think in my mind Rare's connection to Nintendo is essentially the same as any other member of the Ultra 64 Dream Team, lasted a bit longer; strongly effected DK; left a moderately-sized mark on Star Fox, but ultimately a fun footnote. I would be a lot more welcoming to Rare content (and stuff like Mega Man by proxy) if we had major rep for games like, I dunno, Gimmick; Plok; Billy Hatcher; Drawn to Life, that kinda thing.
I've had a lot of thoughts about Rare in Smash really, and they do end up changing every few months (yes, I'm unemployed), I dunno. The thing that always bugs me really is the concept that a corporation can be a "home".
