Smash Bros Direct on April 8th, 3pm PST!!

Here is what I think the direct could be:

It starts with Sakurai saying "Hello. Welcome to the Super Smash Bros. direct. Today, I'm going to reveal more information about Super Smash Brothers for Nintendo 3DS and Wii U. First, I'm going to show some changes we made to returning veterans. *Sakurai shows things like Luigi's Final Smash and Marth's new design*. Now, I want you to take a look at this. *A trailer starts. It shows Samus exploring Planet Zebes. She hears a roar. Ridley appears, grabs her and crushes her in the ground. He then faces the camera, roars, and the phrase "Ridley flies to the battle!" appears. Then, a lot of gameplay of Ridley owning confirmed veterans is shown. Then, Ridley stops to rest in Battlefield. King K. Rool falls from the sky and crushes Ridley with his weight. The phrase "King K. Rool crushes the competition!" appears. A lot of gameplay of K. Rool is shown, and then it looks like the trailer ended. But then... "Kept you waiting, huh?". Snake returns to the battlefield! Then, the phrase "coming second half of 2014" appears. Sakurai then talks about Ridley, K. Rool and Mewtwo, says goodbye, and the direct ends. Please do this Sakurai...

I'm uncertain. The three boxes kinda makes me think we could get 1 newcomer and 2 veterans. It's not the greatest thought, but I'll probably stick to believing it'll be that, but hoping for more.

I wonder if that's more because he has two games to show off unlike most other game specific directs?

I mean yeah Pokemon X and Y are two separate games too but the differences between the two Smash Bros games will most likely be larger.

If we get the game intro, then that pretty much confirms that the 24 characters we have revealed now is the starting roster. Which means that, if the patterns stay true, the roster will float at or just above 40 characters.

Melee's was the best, I agree. But I think the only reason we didn't appreciate Brawls is because it was recycled from the SSE. If those weren't cut scenes from the SSE, I think I'd have appreciated it more.

I didn't mind Brawl's intro at the time, but seeing the gorgeous fur on DK in the Smash CGi trailers makes me very pumped for a new, Melee-like Opening. Let's hope.

Ugh, I hate the final hours Before Directs and E3. They are somehow slower than the other hours. And I have absolutely nothing to do, thus my hype gets unecessarily high, and that's never good.

I'm sure we will have a Melee like intro, since we're not getting a vast adventure mode like SSE.

From what I've heard, it may not be a whole 30 minutes. Some directs in the past have gone to 20 minutes, then when they end the Nintendo Direct logo just plays for the remaining time. Hopefully that won't be the case, but it's a possibility.

So where is everyone gonna watch it? Or a better question, where is the best, most reliable place to watch it? In the last Direct, my internet conveniently crapped itself right when Little Mac was revealed (cut off at Smash ball intro, came back on like those last 2 seconds he was taunting). I think it may just have been YouTube, because the rest of my stream was kinda like that. I really don't want that happening again in case something crazy like Ridley.

The site automatically adjusts, sometimes even drastically, try zooming in and out on the site and see how it changes. The top row will simply be the 2 newcomers plus Diddy Kong.

Well, it's nice to see the website is back up (probably won't last the entire night though). Almost there guys, just remember, let's try to maintain our best behavior. Yes, it's exciting and we all want to have fun, but let's not get too carried away.

One thing I will advise the community on now is overusing videos and GIFs. Tonight is probably going to bring a lot of traffic to this board, and one of the last things we need is ten different users posting reaction videos/images that are going to bog the bandwith down anymore than necessary. Doesn't take a lot for the browsers of our mobile members to crash. If you feel the situation absolutely needs a GIF, I'd ask everyone to follow this quick process of evaluation before making a decision:

1) If the site takes more than 30 secs to a minute to load, put your media into a collapse tag -- assuming the page is still up.
2) Check to see how many GIFs and or videos are already on the page. If there are more than five (and that's being generous), try using collapse tag.
3) If you're going to quote someone who has a GIF or video, remove from the quote before replying.

Want to keep things streamlined here. Cannot speak for other moderators but my tolerance is going to be much shorter tonight, so let's all try to keep things as smooth as possible, okay? Help me help you.

I've been keeping up with daily pics and all the smash bros hype lately and I noticed something.

Scroll down to the bottom of the page and take a look at all the of the character portraits. They all are contained in their frames except Pikachu. Pikachu is the only fighter down there who brakes their frame and enters another fighters (Fox and Bowser, to be precise).

This is probably insignificant, but it struck me as odd. It reminded me of a little trick that Keiji Inafune (Megaman's creator) did in Megaman 2. He kept all of the bosses on the boss select screen inside their respective frames except Quickman.

He made Quickman stick out because he thought Quickman was particularly challenging. He was interviewed about the boss but I can't find the exact interview to cite it. Anyhow, he placed Quickman outside his border because he was significant and difficult.

Pikachu sticking out of his border reminded me of that interview.

Then there is the pic of the day leading up to the Nintendo Direct. Literally no mention of the actual picture, just Sakurai addressing the Nintendo Direct later in the day. On top of that, Pikachu is just chilling on top of the new box designs. While this may be just showing that crates now potentially become platforms, he could have done the same thing with Olimar or another tiny character.

I don't know... I just have this weird hunch that something very Pokemon-y is on its way, if the whole "Three Crates = Three Fighters to be Announced" thing stands true, there is a pretty high chance that one would be a Pokemon.

Maybe I'm just rambling and over-thinking it... but that Pikachu being out of his frame at the bottom of the Nintendo Direct webpage just has me wondering why... Feel free to call me out for being a bit loony...
