I'd love to see the game's intro too. Melee's was amazing. Brawl's was boring. If those pre-rendered trailers were any indication of whats to come, I'm super excited to see it.I hope the'll show us the Opening Intro in this. And since it seems all characters does have High Quality models now, it's very possible they will be used for a gorgeous intro.
I think you might be overestimating them. I know we will get a reveal but not 5 or 6. And a full match? I dunno man.2 newcomers - One newcomer may take about 4 minutes (2 minutes for trailer, 2 minutes for explaining mechanics) so 8 minutes.
3-5 vets - Could be part of the first trailer - 2 minutes.
Opitions & New mechanics - around 5 minutes.
Full Match - 5-7 minutes
Online Features: 3-5 minutes
Connectivity Gimmick - 5 minutes
Around 30 minutes. Mixed with what I predict too. I really hope this is the case.
We'll probably see things like the menus and other things that were never shown on the PotD.
If we get the game intro, then that pretty much confirms that the 24 characters we have revealed now is the starting roster. Which means that, if the patterns stay true, the roster will float at or just above 40 characters.I'd love to see the game's intro too. Melee's was amazing. Brawl's was boring. If those pre-rendered trailers were any indication of whats to come, I'm super excited to see it.
Luigi, Toon Link, Marth, Lucario.I highly doubt many older veterans or newcomers will be introduced today (maybe 1). They're already at 24 characters, which seems like a solid number to be at before unlockables. Brawl started at 21 and introduced 15 unlockables. We may get one or two more before unlockables, because we know Sakurai puts stock in not revealing unlockables before the game's release (with the exception of the 3rd parties).
It was already revealed that the launch window will be mentioned but a specific date will not.My final predictions:
2 newcomers
3-5 vets (hopefully includes Snake)
new gameplay stuff
release date
Didn't know it was 30 minutes long. That's a solid Direct right there.
I didn't mind Brawl's intro at the time, but seeing the gorgeous fur on DK in the Smash CGi trailers makes me very pumped for a new, Melee-like Opening. Let's hope.I'd love to see the game's intro too. Melee's was amazing. Brawl's was boring. If those pre-rendered trailers were any indication of whats to come, I'm super excited to see it.
Just because they were unlockable in previous games doesn't mean they are unlockables in this one.Luigi, Toon Link, Marth, Lucario.
I thought I would throw a match in there because we need those mechanics shown in the PoTD in motion. Sakurai may show a small clip of a match that he did I dunno, in his lunch break. I do hope that he explains the new mechanics and not just neglect them.I think you might be overestimating them. I know we will get a reveal but not 5 or 6. And a full match? I dunno man.
This is just gold. Lol the comments are too true as well, Miiverse in a nutshell.
You can probably ask the complete opposite question for the characters who have been revealed already. I'm pretty certain that Luigi, Toon Link, and Lucario will still be unlockables, but they could be unlocked early.Just because they were unlockable in previous games doesn't mean they are unlockables in this one.
It would be better if it was 4 already confirmed newcomers. Then Sakurai can fully explain their gimmicks. Why does being shown a full match seem farfetched? We got a full Mario vs MegaMan match already...seeing a full match with 4 of the already confirmed characters isn't that odd.
I am probably just reading into things, but maybe the box update was a Snake teaser.
The only reason I made my original comment is that Sakurai only released starting characters with the Brawl updates, minus the 3rd parties. Just noticing a pattern, but you can grab whatever pattern you want to support your argument. You can probably ask the complete opposite question for the characters who have been revealed already. I feel as if it's time Luigi permanently graduate. I feel like Rosie would be a much more suitable Mario unlockable. You can probably ask the complete opposite question for the characters who have been revealed already. It's probably the best decision. Seeing as Sonic was announced through a Direct too.I think it's time to reveal Snake(if he is in anyway), it's not something like E3 that would promote MGS5 hype
I'm just merely stating that Sakurai may no longer care about who he reveals, even if he/she is an unlockable, considering that a lot of the unlockable stuff tends to get spoiled when a game is not released internationally. You wouldn't believe how painful it was for the US and Europe to have to wait to get their hands on Brawl, while Japan ends up spoiling everything on YouTube. The only reason I made my original comment is that Sakurai only released starting characters with the Brawl updates, minus the 3rd parties. I can guarantee you Sakurai has some under his belt. Whether he reveals them today is entirely uncertain. As much hype I'd be for Shulk, Palutena, Ridley, etc.
I almost hope we get a newcomer today that nobody saw freaking coming.
I sort of agree. As big a fan of Shulk as I am, and as hyped as if be by Ridley and Palutena, a completely left-field newcomer would be absolutely awesome. As much hype I'd be for Shulk, Palutena, Ridley, etc.

Ridley has forever been my most wanted, but yes, seeing a character pretty much no one imagened is the most fun. It's why I really loved seeing Wii-Fit Trainer revealed, as I had never imagened what that character would do, while I have countless of possible movesets for Ridley. As much hype I'd be for Shulk, Palutena, Ridley, etc.

I was thinking that Marth could be a starter now, so that way, any possible Fire Emblem newcomers would be treated as unlockables instead.I feel as if it's time Luigi permanently graduate. I feel like Rosie would be a much more suitable Mario unlockable.
Implying we can't have both be unlockable.I was thinking that Marth could be a starter now, so that way, any possible Fire Emblem newcomers would be treated as unlockables instead.
It's kind of like a guess on what would happen if Ike wasn't coming back. If not Ike, someone else from Fire Emblem has to be a starter, so Marth could easily fit that role if most of the newcomers are unlockables.Implying we can't have both be unlockable.
As great as he would be, will he be part of the Mario franchise or will he define a own franchise himself?I can guarantee you Sakurai has some under his belt. Whether he reveals them today is entirely uncertain.
If we get Paper Mario I'll be so happy.
I thought up of an even stranger idea.I am probably just reading into things, but maybe the box update was a Snake teaser.
