Being me, I've decided to rank each character by how much they weigh. Pretty much done. Not sure if Jump or Smash stance shulk change weight but he doesn't use those stances so I can't test it until I get the English copy of the game.

Thanks for the useful information as always, Aerodome.

Since I was bored, I took the time to classify the weights into tiers (similar to Mario Kart).

Super Heavyweight (110-130) - Koopa, DK, Dedede, Charizard, Bowser JR, Ganondorf
Heavyweight (100-109) - Samus, Ike, Wario, Robot, Captain Falcon, Link, Yoshi, Shulk, Max Weight Mii, Megaman, Default Weight Mii
Middleweight (90-99) - Lucario, Dr. Mario, Mario, Villager, Min Weight Mii, Luigi, Wii Fit Trainer, Dark Pit, Pit, Robin, Sonic, Pacman, Frog, Ness, Toon Link, Diddy Kong, Palutena, Duck Hunt, Lucina, Marth
Lightweight (80-89) - Peach, Zelda, Sheik, Little Mac, Falco, Zero Suit Samus, Metaknight
Featherweight (70-79) - Fox, Olimar, Pikachu, Rosalina, Kirby, G&W
Balloonweight (60-69) - Jigglypuff

Additionally, I also made a list with character icons, if some prefer that.

Super Heavyweight (110-130) - :4bowser::4dk::4dedede::4charizard::4bowserjr::4ganondorf:

Heavyweight (100-109) - :4samus::4myfriends::4wario2::4rob::4falcon::4link::4yoshi::4shulk::4mii:(Max Weight):4megaman::4mii:(Def Weight)

Bowser Jr is a lot heavier than I thought, wow.
Just what I was thinking. Heavier then Ganonderp, even. Wow.

I used Junior all little bit when I was just barely starting to get competitive. I might have to pick him back up again now that I realize how heavy he is.

This is good, I like this.
Out of curiosity, what stage did you use for the test?
Any flat one.

but rosalina is heavy in mario kart

It's interesting how many heavy hitters there still are low in the tiers. I think of :4palutena::4zss::4falco::4metaknight::4pikachu::substitute:.
I like how not all characters in each category play the same. Muy bueno.

Let's just go for everything!:
- fall speed (w/ fall acceleration)
- fast fall speed
- jump height
- short hop height
- double jump height
- walk speed
- run speed
- air mobility (how quickly they can change directions mid-air. I guess you could call this air acceleration too)
- max air speed (the top horizontal speed they can reach in the air.

Ok, so who's going to start us off? 1-2-3 not it! ;)

---------------------------------
On topic of the character weights, holy jeez, Bowser Jr. is fatter than I imagined. Also, I am surprised to see Yoshi's weight now match Link and Falcon (he's lighter now!). It must be the trade-off of being so much faster standing up right.

I can't help but feel some weights on characters have been drastically changed. While I was testing the effects of rage on Greninja's Uthrow against various characters, Duck Hunt survived until 140% against a Greninja Uthrow while Greninja was at 100%. For comparison's sake, Greninja himself, who is seen as heavier, died at 129% from that same attack and certainly falls faster than Duck Hunt. It would seem that Duck Hunt is now closer in weight to the default thin Mii Fighter now. On the other hand, Greninja dying that early puts him in the same weight class as ZSS who also dies at that same percent (and going through the next two rage levels, this trend continues). We might have gotten quite a few weight changes in the patch after all.

Edit: one more example: Ness, who is extremely floaty and considered the same weight as Greninja in 1.0.3, didn't die until 132% from Uthrow in the same conditions.

aiight, fall speed is a GENERAL indicator of vertical "weight" but it's actually a hidden value called "gravity" that does it.

Dedede has the highest gravity in the game which is why it's extremely difficult to kill him off the top even though he's lighter than say, Bowser or DK.

By the way, in case you hadn't already tested it, both normal and Jump Shulk are knocked down at 325% by Falco's Ftilt.
If you have, then the existence of the last sentence before the chart doesn't really make sense.

... shulk takes more damage when in jump form

to get knocked down at the same percent as normal shulk would make jump shulk HEAVIER than normal shulk

so i must disregard your findings.

Ahh, I see. My bad. I hate to ask this, as I know you're really busy, but is there a gravity list out yet? I'd be extremely interested in seeing it (this would also explain some of the other perplexing results I had been getting while testing).

Edit: Looked it up. Alright, yeah, I get it now. Sorry about that. Weird that I hadn't known about this before, though (been playing since early 2009 lol).

I actually had noticed D3's higher survivability from Uthrow, but I knew he had the fastest fall speed in Brawl, so I didn't think much of it.

You can check Brawl's list here: http://www.ssbwiki.com/Gravity

Also sorry, I was completely wrong, Dedede's gravity stat is pretty average, but it's a lot better than most characters in comparison to their weight. (higher = more vertical knockback)

Dedede has a pretty slow fall speed in Brawl, gravity is a hidden stat (pretty much impossible to test), but we could make a safe assumption that the Brawl values are similar to smash 4 values.

D3 actually had the highest falling speed in Brawl (http://www.ssbwiki.com/Falling_speed), but lower gravity (now I have a word to explain time to reach max falling speed!) than the other fast fallers, but thanks! Definitely clears up the Duck Hunt thing.

I recall Dedede being floaty, how strange

I know his fast fall was VERY fast, maybe it refers to maximum falling speed?

Oh, come on, Shulk Kirby is totally relevant. You recorded miis for goodness' sake (and bless you for it). Why shouldn't a mathematically kirby player who sucks up a Shulk be privileged to know how they can expect monado arts to perform? It's okay to just be sick of gathering data and be done, but we your loving audience are not in the wrong for asking about it.

Do you have any additional commentary on what factors affect kill %s, and how? I went and gathered some data on kill %s and it's very different, of course; the better I can understand the relationship between that and weight, the happier I'll be. I'm sure it will help to see what your methods were for defining what weight is if not kill %s (which do seem a little inconsistent depending on what move is hitting what character).

I guess I can try and gather weights for Arts Kirby, since I was meaning to test Deep Breathing Wii Fit Trainer anyway

Sure, but it's not really possible unless you base all your testing off a move of shulk's.

I did all the testing with a different move.

Yikes, that sounds like a pain in the tush.

But that's still a question of what you feel like doing, not what's a legitimate interest. I respect that, but quit being a jerk about it. I want to like your thread.

Oh hey that's right

M-maybe Shulk has a move with the same damage/BKB/KBG as Falco's FTilt
@ KuroganeHammer KuroganeHammer , there isn't a move of Shulk's that fits the criteria. But Kirby's FTilt comes pretty close.

Falco FTilt:
- 9% damage
- 361° Angle
- 0b/100g (KOs at 222%)

Kirby FTilt:
- 8% damage
- 361° Angle
- 12b/100g (KOs at 230%)

My proposition depends a lot on how the WiiU version's training mode is set up. But if it's like Brawl's, you have the option of adding multiple computers and controlling them with multiple controllers. You had to use equipment to test Shulk's stances in the first place, and if you are to test Kirby's copied stances you would have to use it anyway. So I suggest using equipment to increase Kirby's FTilt's damage to 9% and to adjust his defense so that the FTilt does 9% when he's in the stance being tested. The only thing I'm unsure of is how the BKB will affect the test. Either way, this will probably get it fairly close, which is what most people are looking for anyway. You even said yourself that Shulk's stances may not be entirely accurate. Honestly, if I had the WiiU version, I'd do this myself so you'd stop complaining to people that it's hard/pointless to test.

And I should report you because
AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
is not a mature way to respond to a polite suggestion. Definitely not befitting a moderator.

It's alright is just a joke, indigo jeans understands me

Don't have a sook about it, if I get around to this then I will.

But I really can't justify it when all the important stuff is done and there's hundreds of other things I need to do.

Plus I'm at a tournament this weekend
