Is Jr heavier than Ganon really?

Also, I keep hearing he takes more damage, why?
I believe he's a very high weight to offset the fact he takes more damage (and by extension, knockback) when his flesh is hit rather than his car (which is more often than not unless you play an aerial based Jr.).

It was said earlier in the thread, but Mario Kart weight is determined by the kart frame size the character needs in order to fit in their kart. Rosalina's height and dress in Mario Kart requires her to have a heavy kart frame.
Also explains why King Boo, the intangible ghost, was labeled a Heavy in Double Dash.

Being me, I've decided to rank each character by how much they weigh. Pretty much done. Not sure if Jump or Smash stance shulk change weight but he doesn't use those stances so I can't test it until I get the English copy of the game.

@ KuroganeHammer KuroganeHammer How about Shield and Smash stance kirby? You'd need 3 character to test it, however.

Edit: oh, I see now. Maybe one of us can try and help?

Do you think http://berathen.com/learntosmash/little-mac-ko-percents.php is a good representation for vertical survivability rankings at first glance?
Yes, that looks decently accurate although it seems @ Venks Venks landed on Jr.'s soft and delicate flesh hurtbox which would GUT his survivability (like an extra 5% damage is a lot).

lol at shield stance shulk. look at how stupid that is

pls frond, i have mentioned this like 8 times, it's not possible to do alone, or on vs. mode because of SMN and other things.

Sorry about that, i only noticed the your posts after i posted mine.

I'm going to try at least putting kirby on that scale in the nsmb2 stage to see what weight range he's in for shield. (in like 9 hours)

Please let me know your results. If you can pinpoint between which characters monado stance kirby fits, I can stick them in the OP.

Thanks for checking that out! I was surprised how long Dedede survived compared to Bowser, but yeah it definitely goes to show that weight isn't the only factor when it comes to knock back. Falling speed has its say.

I didn't have any idea Bowser Jr had multiple hurt boxes. Cool stuff. But yeah if Bowser is performing an action, shielding, or just standing there then this is how the move will connect. I'll have to test if this other hurt box saves him when using a short-hop aerial that gets blocked and punished with the KO Punch.

Love how on the first few pages we have people whining about Rosalina's weight and using Mario Kart as an excuse to complain.

Two different games and Waluigi who is also one of the tallest characters is in the same weight class, she only has a huge kart due to her being so tall doesn't mean she's heavy.

She's light in SMASH deal with it.

Comparatively, Yoshi has often been seen as a lightweight in the Mario spin-offs, and yet he's a heavyweight in Smash Bros.. Smash Bros. doesn't always follow Mario Kart logic with the Mario cast.

Waluigi's weight in Mario Kart rebounds. He's even been a LIGHTWEIGHT in Mario Kart GP. The point is Rosalina is likely light from a balance perspective moreso than a canon one.

I don't find it that hard to believe that Bowser Jr. is heavy considering his vehicle.

As for Rosalina, Sakurai confirmed on Miiverse that she's light despite her frame. It's also general knowledge that Super Smash Bros. doesn't always correctly follow the sizes, speeds, and weights of characters from their home games. For example, Fox has the third highest stamina in Star Fox: Assault and runs slower than Wolf and Falco, but in Smash Bros., he's lighter and faster than both of them (stamina in Assault can be compared to weight since both determine survivability). Additionally, Luigi in the M&L RPG games has more Defense and HP than Mario, while Mario has more Attack. Then there's Ivysaur, lol.

Something seems funny. When I unlocked Mr. Game & Watch today, his default weight limit is displayed as "23". Rosalina's weight limit is "22", and yet the table suggests that she's heavier than him.

I'll get the weight limit values myself later. I don't have everyone unlocked though; I still need to get Dr. Mario, Ganondorf, and Bowser Jr..

Edit: Here's a list of default weight limit values for the characters that I have available.

Thanks for this. I just checked again and G&W is definitely lighter than Rosalina.

Maybe they'd planned to make him heavier and... forgot?

Hard to say overall. Of course, like I said already, the table lacks Dr. Mario, Ganondorf, and Bowser Jr., since I haven't unlocked them yet.

It seems that the game's weight values aren't actually accurate to the real ones and instead just a good "rough" version. That's very interesting.

I'm not exactly sure how you gather your data but I've found the 'kill effect' to be very reliable, more so then eyeballing computers in training mode. I hope your gathering method is more in depth then my own so I don't put your data into question.

All testing was done against the entire cast with level 9 cpu in training mode with them standing in there starting position on battle field. The attack used was Sheik tipper usmash, results were written down when the 'kill effect' appeared.

It's unreliable because of a hidden weight that affects vertical knockback called gravity.

Also you would have hit Jr.'s 0.88× hurtbox so he should be the same as Charizard really.

The problem with this is that this also takes into account fall speed. (AKA gravity as Aerodome says).

That's a shame. I guess the only time it acts independently is when you hit it, which as you say is unreliable.

Although, that being said the only time its weight would be relevant is when you're trying to kill the thing, so it might be useful to work out an approximate kill percentage.

I might take a look at it, but I'm no expert in this field.

This is a weight list of all the characters in Super Smash Bros. for 3DS from Heaviest to Lightest. For vertical kills I used Shulk's fully charged Usmash (no Minado Arts) killing at the hilt of his sword in the center of FD, and for horizontal kills I used Ganon's sweet spot Ftilt in the center of FD. Overall is the average of the character's placing in Vertical and Horizontal (V+H)/2=O. Example: King Dedede's placement in Vertical and Horizontal is 2 and 4 respectively. (2+4)/2=3.

Isn't Rosalina a heavy in Mario Kart, but now she's a lightweight in Smash? Obviously Sakurai didn't collaborate enough with the big N and get her weight right lol. Either that or she's on a really effective diet.

On a serious note, this is fantastic. I'm pleasantly surprised with Mega Mans weight and Bowser Jr. is looking extremely strong with his high mobility, projectiles, stage control, disjoints and weight.
They made her a heavy cuz she wouldnt fit in the midweight karts

decisive monado shield and smash are absent.
RLY hard to get this data tbh, do you know what hoops I had to jump through to get whereabouts shield and the other shield stance were?

Significantly more time than I'd like to admit

So no. Not until Wii U version.

So here's a question for you weight testers here. One of WFT's down special customs, called Steady Breathing, supposedly makes her impossible to launch. However she still flinches when hit and does lift off the ground slightly. Does it actually make her impossible to launch, or does it just make her absurdly heavy?
