i'll be honest

i watched the first match

and i dont feel that you space a lot. and it makes me sad.

i feel that you're just doing aerials for the sake of doing them, though, like i said it's only after the first match, i'll watch the others after lunch

edit: actually, you just didn't really space against charizard, you did fine against squirtle. same with second match though, charizard ***** you because you just threw out aerials instead of trying to find better positioning.

edit2: actually yeah, you got ***** the second match because you pretty much never spaced. you just threw out aerials trying to hit your opponent and he took hella good advantage of that.

Charizard's grab range is longer than Dededes (I've had tipperd dtilts get shield grabbed); and Zard's moves have tippers which are faster/easier to hit with and more damaging than Marth has.

It's because of this I try to get in close; Marth has good throw follow ups on Zard, and Zard covers behind him worse than Marth does. Also he is subjected to a much larger ease of juggle traps, which, trading off a couple of throws and untippered hits (whilst avoiding rock smash) to get Zard off the ground is a major goal.

Also Zard's dtilt and ftilt are so god **** close to range with Marth's tilts it's crazy (I wouldn't be shocked if it came out that Zard's actually had slightly superior range).

^ What he said.

Shaya and I have spent many hours playing the matchup and discussing the options each character has in a variety of situations. He wasn't doing that because he sucks, its because he's studied the matchup. But hey if you want to convince him that he should try and outspace charizard, then cool. It would make life a lot easier for me ^.^

If marth is at a tippered dtilt range its also the range of Charizard's tippered dtilt, which has superior knockback and damage, for a ridiculously low cool down.

There are a number of situations where the usual optimal distance for marth is less than desirable in this instance. I'm not saying that charizard can outspace marth per se...I'm just saying that its not as straight forward as you might be expecting, which is why it appears as though he's not spacing at all.

And yeah once charizard starts getting juggled its bye bye stock.

Lol S.D., defending your commentary :)
Maybe you should learn more about brawl so people aren't like "ughh FSMASH TOWN POPULATION SHAYA? wtfffffff" :p.

Also, over time I'll get better at the Zard match up. I'm happy at this point to still be beating it, but I'm always considering strategies that would work better. I did a lot better against Zard than last tournament. If tcr doesn't think of something quick he'll have to start relying on Squirtle or Ivysaur :).

LOL. The day I resort to relying on squirtle or ivysaur in that matchup is that day I pick up metaknight.

The fact that you still insist that marth vs zard is 50-50 makes me laugh. And then cry.

gg

And yeah S.D has fair pro commentary.

Good morning! (or afternoon)... (or evening)

New tournament videos for the world to see!
It's been a while, considering my last tournament was epic amounts of epic failure :( [i.e. me losing in match ups i didnt know] OH WELL.

I've really started to tack on heavy nair usage plus db1 stalling at some intervals (mostly against wolf on final destination). I hate roll spammers. And no, the loud screachy person in the background during the grand finals after I lost a match wasn't me :p.

Yes this is my third win in a row within my region.

lol @ match 4. Sooo much rolling. You both wanted the kill so badly.

Also, as Rukkiko said, yay for finally some decent Marth vs Wolf vids

At what % does tipper jab start comboing into fsmash? I know it does DB at 68ish% but Sam mentioned it does to fsmash as well.

Directly above you tipping a dair.
SAKURAIIIIIIIII!!!!!!!

Wolfs love to sheild stuff and punish with dsmash so i usually try and break their shield now. Since u seemed to be stopping DB anyway, either on accident or on purpose, you could at least throw in some conditioning/mindgamez for an easy ko.The commentary was too good ("i saw no tripping, its all in your mind") XD

****ing Sakuraiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii!

There was no conditioning or mindgames required,

Wolf is a one dimensional character, you can't force them to do something unless it's through recovering. And by 'force' I mean their only option against everything is pretty noticable, it's lucky Wolf actually has good moves, because he doesn't really have many options.

Lovely texures. Awesome accents too, even the swearing sounded sophisticated.

"DID YOU SEE THAT TECH?!" That was pretty cool. Nice ending on the 4th match too.

Those matches were great and all, but what would you do about a more campy Wolf? I usually have a hard time when wolf Lazers, and when I approach he Fairs. Oh and you used a lot of Nairs, how are they helpful? Do they stop his Fairs?

nairs outrage Wolf's bair and fair if Wolf spaces well, since his range I believe will clash or slightly outrange your fair.

Also Wolf is a character that uses his aerials as anti-air moves in conjunction with sonmething like his slow laser as an anti-ground attempt. In Barlw, Wolf really has to play defensive and just cover all your options with his small, but decent ones. Offensive Wolf would probably get ***** by Marth lol.

So nair being the anti-air aerial due to its range and WTF POWAR, it works to try to counter Wolf.

Although of course Shaya is just anti-Wolf in general. A bitter past I suppose.

Nair is safer as a rising aerial, because its hitting pretty much to the time you can start to fast fall.

Wolf hasn't got much on that, Wolf relies on the fsmash for lag punishes, and his own aerials to cut through crap; Wolf is one of the characters who can overcome Marth's fair purely by playing gay and catching him with rising fairs of his own.
To explain this better...
Marth does a fair out of shield that whiffs and he's stuck for over a half a second before he can do anything else... Wolf has aggrivately annoying complete advantage in this situation, and NOT MANY CHARACTERS CAN SAY THIS.

Nair on the other hand... more disjointed (i.e. better priority) than fair, hitbox out for long time, the fast fall stuff, and if I tip that mother fooker I can kill characters at like 100%!

Also Wolf relies on Shine a lot; and shine completely covers Marth's fair, but doesn't beat nair in really any shape or form.

Good **** Shaya.

But during the first wolf match in grand finals oh my god stop DB'ing out of shield when he's at like 120%! DS OoS for the kill! You go on for like a minute and a half trying to get the kill and keep DB'ing out of shield. Only problem is the DB isn't tippered so it won't kill him. He hit your shield so many times! DS MAN!

Good stuff though. <3

Didn't you hear my girlish screams "Why the **** am I so nervous"? Like when He fsmashed my shield and I db'd once instead of just fsmash or something ;_;. Wolf is a gayyyyyyyy character.
