Im tinfoiling here by BIG AMOUNT but....this leak said we'd get nintendo classic games all n one app, and just now the Switch 11.0 update added a new app and from it you can access both NES and SNES games from it

Its crazy but I mean I didnt keep keep with this update so was this known about well before it went live? what would be on the app?

Big deal it's just one thing that the leak got coincidentally right. Any 4chan leak should be taken with a HUGE grain of salt.

Hmm...you guys think Shantae 6 will probably happen in the next 5 years?
Not anytime soon but within the next 4 to 5 years? Absolutely. Just look at the timeline releases from RR to SS:

Risky's Revenge: 2010

Pirate's Curse: 2014

Half-Genie Hero: 2016

Seven Sirens: 2020

The only time a Shantae game took longer than a maximum time of 4 years was during the development of Risky's Revenge after the original which the release gap between was 8 years. I doubt another Shantae will ever take that long again since WayForward has more support to fund them and more money now. We should see the next Shantae by the next election in 2024 at minimum.

It might take a little longer than the pace the recent games have had if the next entry doesn't recycle assets, especially if it is 3D.

And judging from their latest grunt work project, WF might be trying to dip their toes into the idea.

I take it that means a lot of the DLC wasn't good then ? I never bought any of Half-Genie Hero's DLC.
Oh some of it was good fun, it's just pretty expensive for what it is. If you check the reviews on steam a lot of people found it re-used too much parts of the game with just tweeks. Still extra stuff to get, so I don't mind it at all, but they could either make newer things to go through or lower the price.

I think the only reason WayForward takes such a long time to make Shantae games is because they are still a relatively small company and they are relying on how much budget they can spend. Of course, when Shantae becomes mainstream, that will all change. WayForward themselves might still be indie, but they will become a full blown third party company. As such, they can get their hands on new resources and get a much bigger budget. This will help out so much because in order for the Shantae series to unlock it's true potential, alongside other IPs owned by WayForward, they're gonna have to gain some more dough (money). In between new games, they can give us stuff like comics, an animated series etc. All of which Matt and WayForward have expressed interest in. I don't know about you guys, but I think Shantae's future is very bright and set in stone. And it all begins with Super Smash Bros. Ultimate.

Not to mention that releasing each latest Shantae game for Nintendo's most recent console is a fairly smart business strategy. Sure, WF went multi-plat for the series, but that didn't start until HGH, and even then that was helped by a Kickstarter campaign. SSS basically came about from the leftover funding for that game.

I don't think WF is quite stable enough for spin-off tie-ins yet though. Hell, it took forever for Udon to finally get the art book ready, never mind the possibility of a comic. So I think some patience will be needed.

In the meantime, I'm still waiting for LRG to post news about the Xtreme Sports re-release.

Not that I implied they would do it now, but yes.

Shantae's popularity has grown stronger with every installment. It'll eventually get there, it'll just take a bit more time is all

I can't wait until WayForward evolves from a Indie company to a 3rd party one. You know what would really push WayForward and the Shantae brand in general to the mainstream faster? Getting Shantae in the Smash roster. That would really give the Shantae brand and WayForward the push to evolve into a 3rd party company as having Shantae in the Smash roster would open up the series to so many new fans. That would be the dream.

Correctamundo. At least SSS got distributed safely.

Let's not tempt fate though. This could just as easily wait until Smash 6 instead.
As of now, Smash 6 seems very unlikely. Masahiro Sakurai needs a really long break after this and I doubt we'll be seeing another Smash game for a long time. So, I'm placing my bet on Ultimate. I still believe she is coming.

Uh, dude.
Do you seriously believe there won't be another Smash game after Ultimate?

It's a very lucrative series.
So it'd be financial suicide to just retire the series out of blue.
I think he meant there won’t be one for a WHILE, not gone forever. The Switch is only nearing the end of its 4th fiscal year, I’d imagine the console will last at a minimum 6 or 7. So another smash game is still probably a ways out and on the next console.

That actually makes more sense.

But still, I've seen so many people being doom and gloom about Smash Ultimate.
As if it will be the absolute last Smash game to ever exist and every character who doesn't make it this time, will never get a chance again.
Which probably fuels a lot of people's arbitrary desperation over getting their favourite's in.

Which can lead to.........results some either watch, cringe or both when one is getting bent of shape due to that character not joining the battle.

Also, 4 days remaining until VGA. I still don't expect Smash Ultimate to appear at the event.

I open up the remake of A Boy and his Blob for the first time, and what do I see; 'WayForward' slapped on the screen :D
I totally forgot they made it, so that's nice, I look forward to playing the game.

It’s kind of my fault I told Robot Dump about that and also won’t be anymore characters after Vol. 2 according to Sakurai’s latest column lol and just brought to his attention to probably overlook idk lol. About that report for good news about Smash Ultimate possibly towards Vol. 3, I don’t really know if we’re getting more. I think it’s bit too much for Sakurai since he has been developing Smash Ultimate for 5 years now but some part of me think there might be Vol. 3 maybe because of Sakurai loves doing biggest challenges. Maybe it could be something else for Smash Ultimate from that report idk. Maybe Nintendo will let us know after Vol. 2 at the end of 2021 or later. Also next Smash game, idk either. Maybe there won’t be from my other perspective but it’s still possible either way because of next generation for upcoming Nintendo console after Nintendo Switch because I think that will be endless to have upcoming consoles as new generations. It’s up to Sakurai and Nintendo to fully tell us from what they think.

I think it's possible they'll just rehash ultimate to make future games, because if sakurai's had enough, I doubt anyone can fill his place, so the easiest thing to do is just use ultimate as base and make tweaks and some new modes, etc. Maybe not a lot of new characters, but who knows.

Anyway, we'll see in the future XD

Pretty much this. I imagine in three or four years when the Next Nintendo system comes out, instead of a brand new SMash game they will make a "complete version" of ultimate. Improve the visuals and whatever gameplay improvements the new hardware allows, create some new game modes using assets already in Ultimate, maybe a few other things (like take all the trophy assets from past smash games and create a "Smash Museum" where you can view all the trophies from all the games. By focusing on history they wouldn't even need to update the trophies, just rip the models and plop them in.

And maybe for that game they will get Sakurai to come in and design a string of new characters, just as much as one of the current fighter's passes. That way the game keeps getting bigger without losing anything, but still let's Sakurai's work stay minimal since he would just be building characters for a already made game instead of building everything from the ground up.

Sakurai has pointed out many times before how Ultimate will be near impossible to ever surpass as a future game will certainly lose something that Ultimate has. And when he talks about this it's clear that it bothers the perfectionist side of his personality. Because of that I think they will simply keep updating Ultimate for as long as they can until the architecture just gets too outdated to make it feasible to continue holding on to.

Yeah. Remember what Sakurai stated about if Smash series continues moving forward, he doubts to bring those many characters together again. Meaning all the characters we have in Smash Ultimate won’t be the same in next Smash game so pretty much Sakurai might remove some of the characters to get the others to fit so we can have newer newcomers to have a chance. I think all FP1 and FP2 DLC characters will be back together since they’re new to Smash series. They all first came out in latest Smash game right now and I think fans will be pleased for those characters to come back in next Smash game if Sakurai and Nintendo thinks about it. Then again, they can’t bring them all back but if there’s a chance they’ll do it, then they can and we can be really happy that they’re back again.

Yeah, I agree.
I really hope this will be the route they'll be taking for future games.
Because building the next game from the ground up yet again, wastes too much time reinventing the wheel, so to speak.

Porting and continuously updating Smash Ultimate is basically the best thing to do with this formula.
It is too perfect to just discard it so soon.

The only concern with Smash, are certain third-party characters not returning.
Cloud Strife being the elephant in the room. Due to him almost not returning in Ultimate.
So if Square is being stingy here, Cloud and Hero might not return.

For all the other characters in the roster though... There is no good reason to axe them.

Honestly I don’t care much about Cloud because I’m not into Final Fantasy but I tried. Also Dragon Quest is kind of boring so yeah

So screw his popularity and the massive legacy of his game and axe him, just because you personally don't care about him?
Wow... <_<

Then again, this attitude fits the Smash fandom to a tie.

Completely irrelevant.
We were talking about the possible removal of characters, just based on their IP-Holders not wanting the character to be in Smash anymore.

So your little opinion was very misplaced.
These things are bigger than just us.
You may not care, but Cloud is a very beloved character that a lot of people love to have in Smash.
So he will be missed should he not return in future titles.

In that context, your opinion sounds rather conceited.

I’m aware but I’m just saying I just rather don’t want Cloud to be in next Smash game. If he’s in the next game, cool. Just don’t have many taste on him is all so there. My opinion thanks

Maybe but it’ll always still be a fresh new Smash game. No matter if it’ll reach the top or not. It’ll always still be one of most amazing crossover video games we ever experienced over the years especially being a new experience for new players

Not if they just keep porting Ultimate for a while and keep adding new characters.
That's what I'd do for a while.

So why don't you simply ignore him and pick a character you like then?
Or does his mere presence bother you so much, that you want him removed entirely from the roster?
It's a very selfish mindset to have. Screwing over thousands of fans, just because you personally don't like him.

How is sharing my opinion on Cloud easily offending you and thousand of fans after talking about I don’t have many taste on him is all? I’m not being selfish. I was just sharing my opinion on Cloud unless you’re actually a fan of him and my opinion on him is just he’s not my thing you know. If you’re trying to force me to like him, please stop because I don’t have to like him. Cloud doesn’t bother me and I have zero problems with him but just meh is all. Also I’m not trying to screw any fans like those kind of fans being selfish about spirits deconfirmed characters or assuming not going to happen. There’s no problem so stop being offended over my opinion. Respect it thank you.

You literally don't get the issue.

You say you want him removed from the game.
Why? You could literally just pick a character you like instead and ignore him.

Heck, Pikachu is my least favourite Pokemon. I hate that rat!
But you don't see me telling everyone Pikachu should be removed from the game.
Why?

Because...
1. He is the Pokemon Mascot.
2. He has a lot of fans
3. He was there ever since the first Smash game. So he is a legacy character.
And 4. Saying a character should be removed just because you don't like them, is the pettiest, most self-centered crap ever.
